SAMSON AND DELILAH with MAX VAN SYDOW. JOSE FERRER as the consulting wise man. He played CYRENO DE BERGERAC and was married to ROSEMARY CLOONEY. VICTOR MATURE plays Samsons' father. EXCELLENT cast! Doesn't follow the Bible, but a good movie. It's one of THE best stories in The Old Testament, if not the best. However, the story of JEZEBEL, as it reads in the Old Testament, is excellent. Heck, ALL the stories in the Old Testament are excellent. Thanks for the upload.

This story should be a warning to every true Christian. The devil will come to you to rob steal kill and destroy. Most of the time he knows what your human fleshly weakness are. In this case he came to Sampson in a disguise of a beautiful woman. Sampson knew never to divulge his secret but in a drunken stupor he let it slip. It cost him his life.

They took the names, the general idea and made up a story. Did it not occur that there was already one to be told? 1. He (Samson) had been told from childhood, NEVER to divulge the source of his strength.. 2. The lion attacked Samson near the vineyards of Timnah. It hadn't touched any soldiers. 3. Samson was humble and not full of himself. He offered his riddle during the party where his father was making the final wedding arrangements. It was told to 30 young men chosen to be his companions. 4. Delilah was NEVER in love with him. She was amazed by his Strength and wanted to know more. 5. When asked to find out the source of his strength, she jumped at the chance and used her beauty to seduce him. He played with her until she finally got angry and was captured. She NEVER felt sorry for what she did. That was a fabrication. We know the rest of the story. Unfortunately, none of it made it into the movie... Lastly, his hair had grown Back when they brought him into the pagan temple (it was the reason he got his Strength back).

When the king went to pronounce his sentence, he pushed on the pillars that held the roof up. They collapsed as well as the roof killing EVERYONE including himself.

My favorite bit of trivia about "Samson and Delilah": Cecil B. DeMille had originally cast Steve Reeves, the handsome bodybuilder, as Samson. Then, as the initial tests were made, DeMille told Reeves that he was "too muscular", and would have to lose 20 pounds for the role. (This may or may not have had something to do with the idiotic belief current at the time that men who built up their muscles,, without participating in a recognized sport like football or boxing, were gay.) Reeves refused, telling DeMille that he had worked long and hard to get the physique he had, and that he wasn't about to spoil it. Exit Reeves. Oddly enough, when Joseph E. Levine cast Reeves as Hercules a few years later, there wasn't a word uttered about the need to lose weight. "Too muscular" to play one of legend's great strongmen. Go figure.

Us humans are quite unpredictable unfortunately. And one tends to find this behavioral issue in both male and female. In this particular biological story, Delilah happens to be the sneaky one, by trying to make Poor Samson reveal where he was getting his power from. Little did Samson know that Delilah was up to no good. Samson was naive on Delilah’s intent, sadly enough. There’s more to this biblical story which is equally interesting . In this whole movie, Samson did demonstrate that trusting in God is the key regardless. Awesome movie I must comment.

Lee Philips, who directed this film, is well known to all lovers of "The Twilight Zone". He played Jordan Herrick, the luckless journalist who ultimately winds up as "a pile of dust and old clothes" (Rod Serling's words in the closing narration), after running afoul of the ageless Egyptian siren played by Ann Blyth in the episode "Queen of the Nile". This was also the episode which featured Celia Lovsky, who was soon to play Tipau, the ruler of Vulcan, on the classic "Star Trek" episode "Amok Time", where Spock's hormones went berserk.
