Another great video Sam. I did notice that the rear wheels on the tender didn't seem to turn when you were running her slowly. Sometimes the middle set of wheels didn't rotate either. But they did seem to turn when the loco was moving faster.
@SamsTrains6 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Charles - yeah unfortunately the wheels are quite stiff on that tender, so it looks as though I'll need to add more weight! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

#6869 "Resolven Grange" was built at GWR Swindon Works on March 31st, 1939 and was withdrawn from service on July 31st, 1965 from Cardiff East Dock Shed. It was cut up at Birds Scrapyard on October 31st, 1965 at the age of 26.

@SamsTrains6 жыл бұрын
haha yeah - I think the tender needs a bit more weight, since the wheels are quite stiff on mine! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

I noticed that, too. The middle wheels did the same thing at times.

Modern design was in the 2000s, its gone down hill since in late 2010s and 2020s. The patchiness would have been because they would have washed the parts that need to be clean for regulation purposes. In the last days of steam, usually only the number plates and the br emblem would be cleaned. While everything else would be dirty. "Yea" to the visable valve gear which would have shown the internal stephenson valve gear. The tender wheels are stiff, but great model nonetheless, love the weathering. It's on my list of future locos to buy lol😄

Not in the same league as the new King Class for sure but a nice looking loco nevertheless. I couldn't help but notice that the tender wheels were not turning much on linking up with the carriages and then again when setting off. Maybe the tender is too light.

A lovely model Sam, and a great review as always. It's always personal choice, but when these locos are running on a layout, it's difficult to see all this fine detail, so getting a value purchase as you have managed to do is the right way to go. If they're purchased to go into a display cabinet, then the extra details is fine....otherwise, the extra costs do seem difficult to justify...Just my own opinion...Regards...Bob

I spotted LMS Crab, LNER B12, King George 6th and a Southern Tender Engine (can't remember which class loco it is). I prefer pristine engines. Weathered ones put me off buying them. Your weathered Grange engine, Resolven Grange, is nice enough in her weathered condition, but you would have done better to buy a pristine model of her. On the subject of GWR 4-6-0's, I was thinking you could have a running session with Resolven Grange and King George 6th double-heading a matching GWR passenger train of six coaches, Pitchford Hall with her Tysley Set and Broome Manor with four Mark 1 Chocolate & Cream Coaches.

Johnny the Jinty is a good runner. He fits in with my pristine engines better than I first thought. They've welcomed him very happily, I'm glad to say. I like weathered locos but I would always take a mint Flying Scotsman over a weathered one but that is just me. But the GWR Grange class looks grate weathered. Also why was B.R. so hasty in getting rid of all of there locos, and it was the same here in the states unfortunately.

In fact, that new Jinty of mine is weathered. So I've had to break my own rule about weathered engines on my railway. Johnny is a good runner. One weathered engine won't hurt.

Another fine engine. I thought the detail looked very good, especially from the front. Never worried too much about cabs myself, though I have painted in detail and I do like to add a crew. Of course I am not really one for the weathered look, I would want to dust it!

@1701_FyldeFlyer6 жыл бұрын
Nice review Sam. Good to see Bullman again! It looks like the middle and rear wheels on the tender are not moving at slow speed when you was doing the slow speed test. I was wondering if them dragging was likely the cause of the noise? For a 13 year old model I think the detail is very good myself. Not sure about weathering on locos, some seem to suit it and others not. think this would have looked better without myself.
@SamsTrains6 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot mate, well spotted on Bullman! Yes the tender wheels aren't too great - but it's really because the tender is too light - I had it all to pieces when it came, so I know all the bearings are cleaned and oiled! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Hey Sam, I had a question, is there a version of that model but without the weathering and with the GWR markings? Let me explain, I like the weathering effect but I like my model Locomotives to look like their new, and I just like the GWR markings. OK, thanks! Have a nice day! :D
