@@georgechristolini7869 Sound but no picture is usually an indication of bad backlights. The led tester is just a low current power supply used to light up the led strips. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching!

I've been putting off changing my backlights on my own 55inch. My problem is I have a few backlights out but I still get a picture just a quarter of my screen is a shade darker, barely noticeable but I can still see it. After seeing this video it has gave me more confidence. You made it look easy. 43min video will probably still take me about 4hrs lol.

Thanks for the nice comment. But U do need an Led Tester to test the entire strips. Only thing a Multimeter is good for is seeing if you have voltage going to the led strips. We have some in stock....bigdogelectronics.us/collections/digital-multimeters

I took two 12 volt batteries in series and plugged into the harness at each of the pairs +/-. Told me some worked and some were bad. Enough to tell me I need to replace some, so might as well replace all.

I got a free 32 inch one Model le32r88b, would make a loud cracking noise on speakers power up and no display but eventually would come on and work. it's usually the 4 x 1000uf 10V caps. Two of them are under the shield on main board two of them are outside the shield. They're electrolytic surface mounted, level 4 difficulty removal and hey change the battery in the smoke alarm, that chirp gets ignored until it's too late.

You would have to troubleshoot that one. That is a Backlight tester. Its just a low current Power Supply used to light up the led strips to make sure they work.

Use 2 people; one on each side, and both of you put one hand up under the screen toward the middle to keep the screen from bending.

Question, I have the same TV the picture doesn't come on but the sound is on. If you walk up to the TV you can see a light blue on the whole screen. When you turn the TV off it gets a purple streak that's about 3 in wide across the whole TV and another roll a few inches down. When I unplug the TV for a full minute and turned it back on it said Smart TV and the picture actually came back on for about 2 or 3 seconds and then it faded. Do you have any thoughts. Hello BD I have a Samsung UN43M5300AFXZA and the entire back light stopped working all at once. I can take a flash light and see that the display itself is working when the tv is on. I took the back off and was inspecting the power board and there is a heat sink that had a glob of white glue or heat sink compound covering half the heat sink. Like someone dropped a glob on it! I haven't been able to test the LEDS but was wondering what kind of multitester you use and if you think its a safe bet that the power board is bad? Thanks for reading
