Same here. The colour and contrast was punchier on the 95C but the 900 looked to have a bit more detail on surfaces and in Shadows for both live capture and games. This is the first video where I've seen that though, all previous videos like the one Brian and Fomo did showed the 900 to look washed out especially compared to the 95C and didn't really excel at anything. There must have been an update, either that or this display demo from Samsung was designed to make their more expensive TV excel at something 👍

This video that Brian showed here seemed to show the 900 had an improved a bit from the video he did with Fomo last week (in which the 900 didn't do anything special at all). It's possible an update could improve it more. Only time will tell, maybe at the next shoot out video that Brian's doing at Value Electronics will be the final word 🤞

Brian, My new West Highland White Terrier puppy is still a handful at 11 months old and takes up most of mine and the wife's free time. So, I haven't been around very often the last four or 5 months. I too, am contemplating LED tv after two years of OLED. I love the Sony OLED, but my wife really prefers an LED as she sees it as less of an issue. The issue being, she is a school teacher and off work two months during the summer and cannot leave the tv on all day long, pause what she is watching, take care of the dogs, laundry, or other daily chores without the possibility of burn-in. QD-OLED still falls short in regards to having excess film judder(Plasma does it better) and too much motion blur(Plasma wins again, and at it's best smokes OLED). These TV manufactures need to implement better black frame insertion, along with dual strobe BFI specifically for low frame rate content like movies & TV series do reduce the motion persistence down. CRT's are still the holy grail at 1ms. Samsung's QD-OLED's can get down to 8.3ms from 16ms, but only with video games unless you plan on buying the upcomming External BFI device, retrotink4K. Current QD-OLED's like the S90C/S95C can reduce motion blur by around 50% with BFI when gaming only, which is pretty good but it does not work for 24 & 30fps content.

I replaced a 3 year old LG 65" oled with the 85" 900C. The oled had a great picture. I thought it was bright enough till I started watching the 900c. The LG at full brightness is equivalent to the Samsung at about 15. Samsung brightness setting goes up to 50. Since backlight issues are one of the major issues with led tv's, being able to set the brightness well below full for general watching should curtail any future backlight issues and I can set the backlight higher when watching movies or other occasions. Also I don't have to worry about burn-in any longer. The black levels are pretty darn good for an led as well. In my opinion, the Samsung 900C is a great replacement for an oled especially if you are looking for a brighter tv and want to avoid burn-in anxiety!

I did a similar walk through in Best Buy and noticed an issue with this video. In this video, in my opinion, The qn900c is not on same in store demo mode as s95c. This can be seen during portion of demo where ox plows. The s95c is on a more vivid in store demo setting which is why the earth looks neon. When I went into Best Buy , 900c had same inaccurate image as s95c shown in Brian’s video (neon dirt). I had the picture mode on 900c toned down to both b Film Maker and cinema. After that It produced a more realistic image very similar to that depicted in Brian’s video. I look forward to value electronics comparison where brian can manipulate tv settings so we know the comparison is apple to apples.

I would say that its the oleds who gets better every year and the LCD is still stuck in the no mans land. They cant really get brighter cuz then they cant supress blooming, but they still cant get the highlights super bright in a very dark scene.

Always interested to watch your videos. Please this year with the 8K models do something that not one of the YT video creators did. As we discovered the Samsung multicscreen option is rather limited, not making it possible to use actual different input sources. However one of the benefits (for some installations) that 8K can bring is that it enables huge potential of having 4x 4K monitors from a single and potentially large display. Look into how its possible with PC to use "Fancy Zones" that is free and lets the user create many options regards multi-tasking scenarios from a PC. Its also possible to use elgato 4K capture card (PCI 60Hz) to have a 4K source from PS5 or XB as one of those workable windows. S23 Ultra offers 8K full frame recordings Lets see content about this and how/if that looks better on 4K Vs 8K displays. Be great if you could also have a video dedicated to PC gaming with the resolutions it supports for 16:9 / 21:9 / 32:9 Thanks

Hi Brian, Nice video as always!!! The Best buy near me has the same setup, but they cannot output the same contents on all tvs like the one you went. I have asked the manager and he said it was impossible. Your video is so helpful. For now, don't get a QN900C yet if you want a 85" tv. My neighbor put his 85" QN900C next to my QN900B and my QN900B is brighter when watching HDR10, HDR 10+ (Amazon), Dolby Vision( Disney+, Samsung doesn't support but it works) The QN900B is brighter in every single scene both on film maker or standard mode. When we played some local dimming test and black HDR videos on youtube, the QN900C did have less blooming than the QN900B like you said, but not a lot better. My QN900B is still on the very early firmware 1084 though, so I cannot speak for the QN900B owners have their sets on the latest firmware, which I heard it dims down the tv and also destroys HDR performance for gaming. If I were you, I would wait until the Sony X95L is out while let's see if the QN900C has a firmware update to improve the brightness. However, I have a feeling the QN900C is just a QN900B with a newer image processor. I love LED tvs as much as you do, but I think next year I will upgrade my 900B to a 83" G4(if LG makes one) after Rtings does a burn-in test on the S95C and G3 , and both tvs are proven to be as reliable as the older/less bright oled tvs. OLED are like light bulbs, the brighter they get, the sooner they die, it is physic. I don't mind to replace a small tv every so often if it gives me the best picture quality, but not a big one. It is a pain to replace a big heavy tv.

Im absolutely inlove with my s95c 77. I havent loved a tv this nuch since my first oled which was the lg c6. Its literally like watching hdr for the first time when i watch the s95c. The color is just so damn good. I liked the g3 while i had it but honestly it was just like my c8 oled just a tad brighter. But th s95c is a whole new level not ublike when hd first came out or when hdr forst came out or like when oled first came out, its that much better no lie.

Brian do you happen to know or remember what TV is below the S95C? EDIT: I saw the tag, it's the QN90B. It's holding up rather well I'd say. Can only imagine how well the QN95C would be against these TVs. I do believe it's better than the 900C at least. Seems like the QN95C is a much better choice over the 900C. FOMO could clearly see the differences and that almost none of the flaws the 900C have doesn't appear on the QN95C. It's time for Samsung to stop with the 8K and put all their MiniLED focus on 4K high end models instead. Imagine the QN95C with the 8K processor (obviously not 8K but it's capability). It has 64 threads vs 20. Imagine the 1.5x more MiniLEDs that the 900/800C gets if that was put into the QN95C. It would be SUPER bright (because 8 million pixels instead of 33 which is too dense for light) and have tremendous processing for 4K upscaling. Then just add even more dimming zones and it would likely spank even the top dog OLEDs like S95C and G3.

You're correct sir. Once I saw both side by side it made me pretty bummed out about my 85 inch 900C. I got it with that one day total tech price of 5K. Insane deal for the 85 inch. Especially since it hadn't even hit stores yet at that time a few weeks ago. But I might be willing to go down in size to get that QD OLED newness. My 900C is just so dang dim in accurate modes like FMM and MM Especially when using "static" instead of "active" with all other extras turned off like CE.

Accurate modes are meant to be accurate. Majority of movies are mastered with max peak of 1000 nits and average picture brightness being under 350 nits. As you can see many TVs can manage that. Only few scenes would be more demanding and that’s where the differences show. It’s pretty pointless to me to get a set like 900c and keep it in filmmaker static mode. At Minimum use active tone mapping. 5k for 85” is still not bad deal imo. I wonder what your thoughts on 8k upscaling especially crappy Netflix 4k - whether it does better job then regular 4k tv which doesn’t do much with it.

@WhiteCrowUK I'm very well aware of everything you just mentioned. I've been in the AV community for over 20 years. What I'm referring to is the set being even more dim then what it should be. I have a 77 inch CX and a sony 85X95K. Both of which are much brighter in their accurate modes. As far as 8k upscaling goes, it does absolutely nothing. I notice no difference at all whatsoever between the 3 TVs when it comes to clarity or image quality. The only place the 900C has a very very slight edge is in SDR it can get much brighter, but that does nothing unless you're mainly watching SDR in a very bright room.

We need to wait for someone to do calibration and measurements- but with this tv price it seems to be very niche product at launch at least. Hence less interest from reviewers. Hopefully Samsung will release firmware update to address this like they did with 900b but it will take some time…

Not surprisingly OLED contrast translates into more perceived details. It will be interesting to see 900c in demanding content with moving highlights on black background. Also to compare it to X95L next month. 8k upscaling vs XR cognitive processor - which one will win better details battle. It also would be interesting to compare using crappy bitrate 4k like Netflix does to see which one would look better. 8k upscaling should be even better this year. So is Sony’s XR cognitive processor. This no one seem to cover only showing perfect 4k content - most of the time people stream though. Btw don’t think dynamic/store mode on 900c does it any good - I think with certain settings which would lower its peak brightness would make look better - less washed out. But for this we will have to wait.

Owning last year's 900B, and this year's S95C, I can definitely tell you the 8K upscaling on the 900B is unbeatable, 4K Ultra Blu-ray discs are jaw dropping, never would I stream low bit rate content, it's only upgraded versions, like Netflix Premium on Apple TV4K for the 900B. With that said my S95C still has richer contrast and depth, but the 900B destroys it with way better detail when upscaling 4K content to 8K. I love both, but I also love my S95B, A95K, and my LGC1 48", and I'll probably sell a couple when the A95L drops...

You can tell the S95C is in Dynamic mode and it's not helping it at all. The colors are way too strong and over saturated. Too bad the QN95C wasn't in the spot below the S95C in the display, but it's not out yet.

The difference between the S95B VS S95C is visible but not massive as the S95B was already excellent. If jumping up to 65' it's definitely worth it. The S95C easily beats the 900B. I could also never recommend a 65" 8K TV. 85" is the 8K size for me.

It's unfortunate we can't get the best features all in one package. I wish we could get the S95c, but in 8k. People can say 8k isn't needed all day, but it's nice in huge size TVs, especially with Samsung's AI upscaling. I would have therefore bought the QN900c but it gets absolutely smoked in person (I've seen it) compared to the s95C in terms of popping colors. The S95c just destroys in that respect. So I wait another year or three until they can dial in great contrast on an 8k TV for under $5,000 on the 75 inch. That's all I ask.

The BB here just got both of theses TVs in last week and for me to compare. Not impressed with the 900C and the S95C was too bright. Both will need to be adjusted out of the box and then they might look better. Waiting for BB to get the LG G3 and the Sony X95L so I can compare them more. I've seen a ton of reviews on all these TVs and the Sony X95L 85" should be the winner with the G3 coming in second. The main key to purchasing a great TV is to get one that "fits your eye" and what content are you going to be using it for (gaming, movies, sports, or just regular broadcasts, etc.) There is no "best TV" anymore because everyone is so different from each other. Better to wait for the A95L, G3 is nice, but just using Micro Lenses to make the pixels appear brighter still falls way short of even last year's S95B, I'll keep my calibrated C1 for gaming. I still haven't seen Oled that can compete with my S95C or my A95K...

I simply don't understand the obsession with the S95C. A TV where the processor pushes reds to an absolute extreme. Everything is red, red and then a little more red. You can't even get white snow on this tv, and then neon green trees?? I've lived in the Colorado Rockies all my life and haven't seen one neon green tree tree yet. I think TV manufactures have pushed colors beyond whats real a long time. It makes the panels look like they've been colored with magic markers.

@@KZbinuser1aa Ya, but you can’t change a processor, and certainly can’t guarantee image retention or burn in, which was occurring with last years S95B. If you can remove all the red tones, then send me a video of it. Without sounding like a smart ass, I would really like to see it.

I understand Kyle and unfortunately the appear more that way in camera especially in store however they are actually pretty accurate with a few tweaks. However some people just don't enjoy the sometimes cartoons image of Samsung. Thank you so much for watching

Reflections on 900c so much worse and so distracting - coming through even with bright picture not to mention totally washing out blacks.

Yeah, I noticed the 900 definitely had a more reflective surface for sure. I wonder if OLED has a natural advantage there

@@joeljodrey5310 900c is VA panel and it has bad viewing angles natively so they need to put wide angle layer which creates this absolutely crazy smearing, looks like it’s less rainbows but still smearing massively. QD oled has none of that. Makes you wonder why would you brighter LED which behaves worse with light sources forcing you to control light in your room. I guess 900c is off my list.

Nowadays, oled tvs are so bright that there is no reason to buy lcd tv. The picture quality on oled is unmatched

I've seen both in person at Samsung's store here in NYC and the 900C was much better in brightness and color richness. Unbelievable!!! Micro LED is going to leave OLED in the dust.
