I have never in my life seen a guy like you, who can solder in a chip, with such ease, you sir should have been a brain surgeon, you must have had years of practice to get that good. you make everything look to easy.

awesome soldering job. You made that look so easy. I dont know how the solder didnt go over to the other contacts while soldering to cause a short. Very nice video for people with the same issue

I've watched some videos here but have never seen it done this way, but it makes sense to me. If you apply the solder to the pins you might get too much and make a solder bridge. This seems like the best way to do it.

Excellent video. thank you. I have a problem on the same unit. Unit has a whining sound when initiated. I believe its color wheel related. It whines unit does not turn or lights flash in the front on power button. Can you tell me what you think it might be?

I have changed this part in your model 2 or 3 times under warranty, it is quite involved but a fair repair shop should not charge more than 150 in labor. However if you are going to just toss it out, you should at least try to remove and re install your old board just to see if you can do it. If you succeed then order the used one and save some money!

Just one question, Was your friends digital board the exact part number? because the analog boards are matched to the digital boards. and if you try and use a 1659 in place of a 2084 then no sound is the result. as far a a 4 pin cable, the speakers plug in somewhere in middle of the board and not in the back as all the other cables.
@norcal715
@norcal715 12 жыл бұрын
does it make a buzzing/humming sound? if not it could be either the color wheel sensor of the DMD board. Sounds like the color wheel is running over speed and that causes a whining sound.

Hi, good job. how did you know that these were the two chips causing the problem and not the other two, is there a way to test them with a digital meter before removing them. thank you

Must have been the same - it worked. There was a 4 pin header that I messed during reassembly. The picture doesn't seem quite as good as it was. Would it be possible to send my old one to you for repair? Thanks for your help.

I just got one that keeps turning on and off and on and off etc. I disconected key pad and remote sensor but it does not make any difference.its not shut down issue but keeps turning on and off you can hear the melody every time it goes on and off.

Excellent video. This is the closest example of the failure of my HL-T6756W. Began getting dim on last day the screen froze at a commercial image. Thought it was the cable company. Picture went black. I replaced the lamp. Turned on but nothing. Lamp was bright. Couldn't get to settings via remote. Went to panel brought settins up and they displayed fine. Now a green-like display appears. Sound but no picture. Could this be the same problems as in the video.

Enter the factory mode, with the tv off on the samsung remote press in this order: mute, 1, 8, 2, power. go to option and then to WD Count. Thats the Watch Dog counter and counts digital board errors. you can reset it by selecting user reset, then let the set do its thing for a few days then go and check the count again. If it has incremented then the problem is on the digital board, possibly ram ic replacement would repair it. Thank You

Please help. I can replace the part my self. Diagnosis on the other hand is very hard. I used to work with a solder iron and replace chips, caps etc. I just need to know what part it is. Then i can find one online somewhere. I have tried researching and if I had to choose I would say its a dmd board from what other people have said. I just want a expert opinion. You look like you know what your doing and that your good at it too. I dont have sound on my PC so I couldnt hear.

I guess the service manual to find memory allocation address ,or a good old scope to check address lines and fine the faulty chips ,but if your unsure replace all memory still be cheaper than a new tv

I have done too many of these for it to be a BGA problem, The DNIE ic processes SD and HD the same and the problem is much less or not there at all when less scan conversion is done, remember it requires way more memory to up convert 480i or p to 720p needed by the DDP ic, however it requires very little conversion to convert 1080i to 720p. I have however seen some problems caused by BGA problems but with this propblem and multiple repairs for the last 5+ years I just dont think it's it. Thanks

Yes do the HD/SD test. GPU affects both HD and SD signals equally. Ram affects SD more than HD.

No it is a bit more involved that just unplug and plug back in. It requires alignment after re installation. As far as the worth, it's up to each person, there may be someone that thinks its worth 1000 working perfectly and the next guy that would not give you 25 working for it. As far as an independent shop installing a used part, we do it with the understanding that its paid up front, and if it doesn't work oh well, and no warranty. Hope this helps. Remember their time is their money. Thanks

if you are seeing green in the dark areas then adjust the color wheel index. Most likely that will solve it. The color wheel rotor and sensor may be in need of a cleaning. Try that and let me know. Thanks

Hello there norcal, I have skinny straight perfectly spaced vertical black lines on my Samsung DLP Model Code: HLR4667WAX/XAA They are in exact number sets. I think like they are in sets of 8. They go all the way from top to bottom of the screen. Starting from one side of the TV there is a set of black lines, then a space, then another set, then another space, etc. Taking in consideration of my description I will try to type it using the letter Capital I's to show you how systematic they are.

Hi, I am seeing many videos about this problem and solution. I see many videos claming it is GPU problem and fixing it by reballing the GPU. And I see you fixing it by replacing the Ram. Do you know how to find out what is problem between RAM and GPU? Is it by checking HD and SD channel as you mentioned?

I have a Samsung HLR4667WAX/XAA. Here is the issue: When the tv is fully assembled the lamp light in front flashes for about a minute or two sounds like everything is powering up then it shuts itself off and Standby/Temp light flashes. After looking into it with covers off and door switch unplugged tv will run for at least 5 minutes before shutting off. Lamp is on color wheel is spinning. I have no picture, no sound, menu does not display. Im thinking digital board replacement?

So I watched your video and if you access the service menu (with power off press in this order: MUTE, 1, 8, 2, POWER) go to DDP 1010, go to test patterns and see if the test patterns have the lines. If they do then the DMD board is the fault, if no lines then the digital board is the fualt

I don't know what my problem is but I have a 39" insignia LED LCD tv and it has this similar problem, no where near as bad by far, but I have been noticing, mainly when there's video movement any area's of the video that is black is where I notice the random green shades/lines. I did mess with the tv settings and one feature I turned off helped a lot but very faintly see it still in certain spots but that feature was insignia motion 120hz. I turned that off and its an improvement, but its always had that turned on a never has shown up this green video before. but if you could maybe give some idea what I may have going on let me know

@norcal715 12 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a bad DDP IC, bring up internal test patterns, with Samsung remote and set off press in this order: mute, 1, 8, 2. Then go to DDP1011 press right arrow to enter, go to test patterns and scroll through them and see if you still have lines. If you do then the DMD board is suspect, specifically the DDP IC on the DMD board.

The flux causes the solder to become much wetter and stick to the leads, Flux also causes a wicking effect. Trust me it is much easier to solder when there is not a camera 3 inches from the work!

Wanted to know if you had any idea for what could be my problem. I have a 72" Samsung dlp tv (HL72a650c1f) that I bought in 2009. Had the on/off problem, so I replaced the lamp first. That did not solve the problem, so I ended up hiring 2 technicians to some what fix my problem. First guy stated it was the digital board (not so), 2nd guy fixed the on/off issue by replacing the power supply and ballast. However, now the picture does not have the color red in it. Fired them and I have been researching all dlp issues on the net (nothing like my issue yet to be found). Found some one selling the same tv with the on/off issue, so I purchased it for parts. Swapped out the entire light engine but removed his ballast for mine and presto, it worked. But now after a few months my new problem is its turning on and off again but this time I can hear audio and after a few attempts the screen comes on but within seconds the color fluctuates and on and off cycle continues. Any idea how to fix both issues? My old tv with no red in picture and my new tv color changes rapidly and then no picture to just audio and back to the on and off cycle...
@norcal715
@norcal715 10 жыл бұрын
check the cap on the ballast as well as the 2 big filter caps on the power supply board and see if any of them are bulges. that will cause the on off problem as well as color fluctuations. as far as red color sounds like digital board setup problem, or color wheel problem

If it is a LCD tv, it sounds like a LCD Panel problem, that is if the lines are like 1MM wide. Most likely a drive pack failure that is bonded to the glass and no way to repair short of replacing the entire LCD panel. Sorry
