I know it probably has to do with the Tetris of internals, but one thing I dislike is when companies decide to put the two type-c connectors on the same side. Would be so much better that, given they both provide power, that it being either side for easier charging on any side.

The track pad IS in the middle relative to where your hands would be while typing. I always center my keyboard relative to the space between keys G and H. The number pad offsets the center of the keyboard

That's what I love about living driving distance to the American border. Anytime these companies charge a premium (not referring to the exchange rate) on devices, i just order it online from the US website with my Canadian USD credit card and have it delivered at a FedEx or other pickup location south of the border. It's usually just $5 a box for the pickup service. Drive south, spend the day there (usually a weekend) frolicking about and drive back up.

It's nice to hear someone say how rubbish those stupid stickers look on Windows laptops. I suppose they are the external equivalent to pre-installed bloatware software, if someone paid to have their sticker there then it presumably helps keep the purchase cost down, but after the manufacturer has gone to all the trouble of creating an expensive, premium device with a clean aesthetic design the garish, and entirely redundant, stickers are as if a child has scrawled graffiti all over it.

Good review. I'm deciding between the 16" Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro and Ultra, and the 17" Dell XPS 17 9730. The later costs the most by far, but I love that 17" screen in a roughly 15" form factor. That said, I can save some money and go Samsung, get some better specs, some, and since I plan on buying the Galaxy S23 Ultra phone, maybe even more reason to go Book3. I'd love to get the Book3 Ultra, but am worried how much of a drop off in battery life I'd see from the Book3 Pro to the Book3 Ultra, any thoughts on that? I would get what you have here the gen 13 i7 chip (H chip with the Ultra, P chip with the Pro), 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. I'd get those same specs if I went with the Dell XPS 17 (H chip), but with that I'd have to decide between the 4k UHD+ and the FHD+ screens, the latter getting better battery life of the two. I do need to learn what if anything Windows and/or Dell offer in the way of connecting between laptops and Android phones that might compete with what Samsung offers between its devices specifically, you made some slight reference to that, so I'd welcome any added insights on that too. Thanks.

I think Samsung would be a better pick simply because Dell is infamous for their quality control issues in recent years. Just more peace of mind. And if you have other Samsung devices, it gets even better. Also, other laptops do connect to Android phones through phone link / link to windows, but yeah it's good but Samsung-Samsung integration would always be better

@@lavitra. Thanks for the input. You say what I was thinking. It's just I love that 17" screen in a 15" form factor, I really appreciate the extra display real estate. I know 17" is only 1" more diagonally than 16", but I imagine it would be relevant, especially for my many long streaming watch lists and charts, but movies too. So round and round. But that quality control issue with Dell, I wasn't aware of that, so kind of relevant. No similar complaints about Samsung laptops and their quality control or c/s?

I already have the 16” M2 Max MacBook Pro. However I also have an 16” HP Envy that has 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports and 2 usb A 3.2, 2TB SSD, 32GB, hdmi 2/1 and WiFi 6e and 120hz non hdr screen and i9 12900H cpu and 3060 gpu. You can buy that laptop for £1000 less than the Galaxy book 3 ultra. I know specs on Laptops improve but for what I use a windows laptop for, for me the Samsung is an unnecessary £1000 extra expense. Also what I’ve seen from previous videos, and I’m not sure if you’ve done one of these Karl, is that you take the power lead off a M2 Mac, the performance pretty much doesn’t drop until the battery is quite low . You do that to a high spec windows laptop and it does, quite significantly in some cases. That is why to me, the new 16” M2 MacBooks are the best portable laptops in the world.

Being in IT for... ...a long time, those stickers are the first thing I remove as soon as I take it out of the box. You don't want to rub it down then complain that it doesn't come off. I've taken hundreds of those stickers off. If you pull slow and firm it will come off without a trace if you do it right away.

In UK the MB Pro 16 M2 Pro competes well on price with the Ultra, so it is an easy choice to buy the Mac. Reasons include, better speakers, longer battery life, display brightness and reflectivity better on the Mac, runs cooler, performance close, and better options for the Mac; only 16GB RAM version in UK for Ultra which for many prosumers is simply not enough.

Lots of people dont care about many of these, 500 peak brightness for an OLED is plenty, My laptop has an OLED and at 400 nits its incredibly bright, usually run it at around 250 nits. Reflectivity is something but most people wont care about that. Sure speakers and battery life are a plus for Mac. Although theres people like me who hate MacOS, Absolutely hate the operating system. As well use android phones and like the occasional game. For those reasons the macbook is a terrible purchase for me and others. So I think this new Samsung laptop has serious potential!

Thanks for a good review. The only reason I am hesitating getting the new Book3 Ultra since I do plan on buying the S23 Ultra phone is that it is 16" and I really prefer a 17", especially the 17" in a near 15" form factor of the Dell xps 9730. If the Book3 Ultra came in a 17" I would absolutely get it, but since it doesn't that's why I'm torn. Actually, there is one other reason. All the new Book3's (Pro, Pro 360 and Ultra) have super reflective screens and that worries me. I wish Samsung added some kind of anti-glare/anti-reflective coating to these otherwise incredible screens similar to what Dell does in its xps models. Round and round.

I have the version with the RTX 4070. Overall I like it but I wish that it had g-sync. Many of the games don't look all that smooth even at higher frame rates. I will probably be returning it.

@@CaramelColored I returned the Samsung and picked up the ASUS M16 with 4080 at BestBuy. I've been much happier with it. I love OLED but not at the expense of stuttering. My LG CX OLED supports GSync. Not sure why they didn't implement it it the GB3U.

As someone accustomed to the sleek bezel size of the LG Gram, this became a significant concern for me. I bought this laptop and ended up returning it. For a company as large as Samsung, WHY DIDNT YOU PERFECT IT? How can you allow apple to beat you? Horrible. I had the i9 version, and it wasn't good. LENOVO all DAY. I used the Samsung for about two weeks and took it back. I have a Lenovo and a HP Omen laptop. I was extremally excited to get the Samsung, then I was disappointed and ended up back with my Lenovo even though my HP was newer and slightly stronger. I really hate youtubers who don't know what they are saying. people don't care about the specs, we already know the specs from the manufacturer. You want to do a review do something no one else is doing. Use the laptop for a while and then give us a real review. Yeah we all already know you can connect to your phone, that's one of the main reasons people would want this device, one of the main reasons that someone would buy a samsung. This is similar to Apple, why are you telling us WHAT we KNOW.
