great review, great product. i'm looking forward buying a 10(ish) inch tablet for my medical research and it's imperative to have a good quality pen (active pen). sadly, i can't afford a surface pro 2/3 but this could be it. x86 windows tablets come at a high price, so currently i'm still looking for what the competition has to offer.

Thank you for your video. I just purchased the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition and felt kinda overwhelmed, because the sales rep showed me all the wonderful stuff that it did. Then I got home and didn't know where to start in learning how to do stuff on here. So I went to my favorite site for learning how to do stuff - KZbin and found your video. It may have been long, but it was pretty comprehensive and I feel comfortable knowing how to use my tab/note now. Once again, thanks!

I accidentally dropped my Galaxy Note 10.1 on the floor. The surface wasn’t hard because it was carpeted, and the height of the drop was from the waistline. But however soft the surface was and however low it was dropped from, the device was totally affected. The screen is now black and whatever I do, it just wouldn’t come back on. There are no cracks whatsoever on the screen so I assume it wasn’t really that bad. Do you know how to fix this issue?

It may have been shocked. Like have you ever heard of a "water proof, dirt proof shock proof case"? Well thats what the case does it protected it from being shocked. Really hope you are able to fix it or return it :)

I love my Note tablet, except for the fact that I have only had it a week and the gallery won't open. It seems like mine can be really glitchy at times. I thought the gallery would just fix itself, but it hasn't yet. Good thing there are other apps available to open my photos.

Mine did start working again. It was about a week later. I don't know if an update fixed it, or if it mysteriously fixed itself. Either way, it is working again.

Touch Wiz was horrible I downloaded Nova Launcher Prime rooted the galaxy note and disabled Touch Wiz. My pictures look better and Nova Launcher Prime without being rooted works great.

I have had my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Tablet for just over 3 months and when the screen goes to sleep I can no longer wake it up. I used to be able to just hit the refresh button to wake it but now that doesn't work. I have to plug it into an outlet and see if it will show the battery life. It takes awhile to make that come up. When it does you unplug the charger and hit and hold the on/off button on top with fingers crossed hopping to make it come back to life. I called and talked to Samsung for 3 plus hours today and they had me reset everything to factory settings. They acted as if they have never heard of this issue. I told them to get on the ball and google "Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition goes to black screen and won't wake up" to see all the other people who are having this problem and fix it. They told me I am probably charging my computer for too long. They only want me to have it plugged in for 4-6 hours tops. Then they had the nerve to tell me that since my tablet power was at 60 percent when our phone call started 3 hours ago but has now fallen to 28 percent that must be the problem. I am to charge my tablet and it will run correctly according to them. I HATE SAMSUNG RIGHT NOW and I will never get those 3 hours back. Don't buy this tablet.

This seems like a really good tablet. I've personally never been much of a samsung fan, but recently, their products have been good. If any students out there are reading this, I wanted to ask if this is recommendable for note-taking, importing pdfs and powerpoints and editing them and stuff. I'll be starting my first year (undergrad) of med school in a few weeks and I'm looking into getting this. Except for certain lag complaints in certain applications (which i am okay with) I haven't seen anything really bad about this. Please do reply and let me know if it's a good fit for a student who just wants note taking capability, the occasional web browsing, sometimes sketching, but overall just studying experience. Thanks for reading :)

Thanks for replying! :D One more question, does it let you import pdfs and ppt slides onto snote to take notes over?? Or any other note taking app that lets you do that? Just curious. Hey, i pretty much got good reviews for it except some lag issues sometimes. I wish I could help more, though. I didn't buy it in the end because I needed a laptop and couldn't afford both the computer and the tablet. But if you really need it, I think you should go for it. Just a personal opinion. Sorry I'm not more of a help.

Awesome series of reviews! Unfortunately, I have seen major quality control issues with this line of tablet. I went through 4 devices to find one without defect, namely severe light bleed. One had severe light bleed as well as dozens of dead pixels. Interestingly, I do not think you would even notice any of these issues if you did not play dark games or watch movies in letterbox. Question is whether this is due to increased production for holidays or with the production change to Vietnam rather than South Korea? Despite quality control issues, I wanted to love this tablet in part due to its raw functionality that truly pushes the boundary for what tablet devices are capable of. The screen is incredibly beautiful and the software is refined. Its fast, and graphical capabilities in gaming is the best out there. What are other applications or software that you have come across that is innovative. I think there is so much out there and sifting through all the junk applications for phones to find what is optimized for this tablet and Spen is truly a chore. For instance, what type of photo editing software uses the capabilities of the Spen? I know you have reviewed basic samsung Spen and multiwindow functions as well as nova launcher... But what else is out there that is worthy of talking about?

I have had Problems with the notification drop menu. Sometimes it wont slide down no matter what. I tried resetting my NoTe 10.1 (2014)to factory settings and restarting it, but it Wcouldn't work. It's annoyng because of the obvious shortcuts you find there. Like I said, Sometimes it works and others doesn't. TUTORIALS ARE REALLY GOOD BTW! Anyone with the same problem ? Thanks..

Hi!, which one do you think is best...Surface RT2, Sansung Galaxy Note 10.1, Microsoft RT from ASUS and best for drawing?. I also saw a video where you can use the Surface 2 as a remote control, as a gaming ctrl., can have a desk top., watch movies from Netfix., connected to your tv, printer, xbox or whatever through WiFi. (youtube video: Why I love my Surface 2). Can you do all that with the Galaxy as well?. Thanks for sharing! =)

Have gone through two Asus Memo Pads over the past year. Have just had to send the 2nd one back to Amazon as it had battery problems. I was thinking of replacing it with the Nexus 10, but now I have just found this tablet, so am even more confused! lol. I will definitely come back and watch your videos on the 10.1 Note though. Your videos are so comprehensive and relatively easy to understand for a non-techy like me.... plus I could listen to your voice all day! :o)

Just DL'ed Opera app for android, to get a better viewing experience on f.ex. G+, only got worse or poorer, there was only one column on the screen, compared to Chrome, where entire screen is filled :(, so back to Chrome :) I also have an issue with the keyboard on FB it lacks, making it difficult to make a comment without tons of strange or wrong words, that's a pain :(

One thing that would make the Note 10.1 and the new 12.2 NotePro is the ability to run Artrage (best paint app out there-not at all sure why it is missing in Android). Also, if split screen would work with all apps rather than just the few that the split screen is still limited to. The Wacom digitizer and screen quality should be a clear wake up to all tablet and 2-in-1 hybrid manufacturers. So, with the Note and Android it is art apps that are needed.

You mentioned multitasking on your video The fact that you leave the apps ruining in the background does not mean multitasking! Having 4 windows open on the same screen is multi tasking and jumping back and fourth to different apps and able to execute task. But I will continue watching your review great review. o_Ô

B'S video player is a better video player and Roocase is about the same as the Samsung case but a bit different also Nova Launcher is much better than Samsung's Touch Wiz

I have one of these and it has been super buggy. I have had the touch scree freeze often, but I can still scroll with the pen. I have also had the thing not take a charge. The daynote pad often screws up but I found a remedy on a galaxy forum. THe other issues seem to have no remedy, I have sent it in for service and they sent it back just to have the same problems arise. Search this tablet and touch screen bug you will find videos with lot's of comments form people having the same issue. Buyer beware !! mine is not an isolated case. Other than it's a great tablet but this issues I have mentioned are a major deal breaker.

I got this tablet yesterday, and already brought it back to the dealer, the battery on standy from 100 to 0 % was in 4 hours emptied. The charging calbe was not working properly and the tablet randomly shut down when below 40%

Let me just answer this question myself, since the author of this video has ignored this. It is easy to import PDF to S Note, but it takes several minutes depending on the number of pages on the PDF file. Bluetooth Keyboard works fine.

Specs don't matter when it doesn't do what it is supposed to. This tablet is incredibly laggy for having an 8 core processor. I liked the previous generation better. I returned mine for the iPad Air. I will never go back.

I'very been through 2 of your videos realizing that i'm watching towards the end of the second hour jelly bean operating system. You may want to disclose that right at the beginning of your videos from now on what os system your on. I was waiting for you to explain the hover Air feature for s pen that may only be in KitKat OS but what it's supposed to do is when you hover over qualified subjects it will give details of there software. So you put the pen over the item and a pop up box will appear basically. You do a very good job on your videos I did a lot of research before choosing my 12.2 machine note s. I use it to draw on but it has some major problems with sketchbook pro saving layered drawings that have utilized gradient features. When saving it has not been able to save basic sized drawings it saves half the layers at random choosing and it doesn't let me know when it's done saving it just sits and spins like it's saving still.So I tap the screen and it comes back to paper space and let's me know that the save was a fail. I contacted Samsung they Blair it on Autodesk. I looked my memory it says less than 1.2 GB Available.I hit the clear memory button it always gives me less instead of more. I'm on my third return at bestbuy.Autodesk is no help at all. My only hope is the new operating system update. Coming in November. You have anything to add. Could you help anyou with the hover command please?

Adobe stopped supporting Flash for mobile devices years ago. That's why new devices don't come Flash enabled. If you really want it, you can go to Adobe's website and search the archive I think.

awesome overview. I am currently on the market and bouncing between the surface pro and the note 10.1 2014 tablets. Basically, the only thing holding me back is the need to know if the galaxy note 10.1 2014 can recognize a portable hard-drive attached to it via USB. with or without the help of a OTG adaptor.
