Hold on, why the fuck do you say 'Hopefully not long for this world Micro USB charging port?' Ton's of devices use Micro USB. I can charge my galaxy S6 and PS4 controller on the same chord. USB type c is the future.
@stuartmorgan36549 жыл бұрын
+HadesWTF I don't understand how it's condescending or bias. USB is an open standard it's used by almost everyone because it's free to license. iPhone uses a proprietary connector that costs more to both the manufacturer and the end user because a licence fee is required. Yes USB type C is incompatible with USB micro because we needed an improvement to the existing design to deliver better performance but USB type C will replace micro on pretty much everything over the next couple years. It's not bias to understand how this song and dance works remember mini USB? it's what we used before micro USB replaced it.

Another one of those Top Gear conclusions. "This phone is superior to the competition in every objective way, but it just _feels_ like the opposition is better." Also, the Note is designed to be used primarily with the stylus and is designed for media first and foremost, so complaining that it's big is really stupid; just like complaining that any phablet is too big is stupid.

That's what it says. Also, size and screen size are two different things, Linus said that previous models felt large, while the Note 5 actually feels smaller and more ergonomic, while having the same 5,7" display. The conclusion is, this is a 700€+ phone off contract and I can get a new Note 3 for 200€ off contract easily. What exactly has Samsung done to deserve my 500€ in the meantime? Oh, they have taken my IR interface, detachable battery and SD card slot away? Very well Samsung, fuck you.

There is only one thing I really want on a phone. If there is a company who makes a phone like that, then I'll buy it. No doubt. But what is that feature? Well, it's very simple. Matte screen! I won't buy a laptop with a glossy screen. I won't buy a monitor with a glossy screen. I will not buy a tablet again with a glossy screen. I also want a phone without a glossy screen. I currently have a Moto G (2014) with a matte screen protector. I love how it feels. I love how easy it is to look at it in sunlight without brightness turned to max. I only hate it that it has a lot of colour distortion on white parts of the screen, because it creates a lot of rainbow pixels. I just get a lot of little coloured dots on the screen. So if they make a screen like I have on my laptop, but then as a touch screen I'd love the phone and I'd buy it. (unless it is overly expensive and overall just a bad phone.)

You nailed so many accolades and issues with Samsung here, excellent job. Samsung makes an excellent product, sends it to market, then promptly forgets to do anything for its buyers in the post-market support. I also thought I wasn't going to use the stylus much when I got my N5, but surprisingly I'm using it quite frequently. Especially for taking quick notes (for example, a phone number, address or something to buy) in a pinch, just taking the pen out and writing, without even turning the screen on, is super fast and simple. Plus there is also the "Rolling Screenshot" feature, that is somewhat hidden, but AWESOME. Plus it's actually really fast, even if the internal memory isn't even close to something like the iPhone 6S. Btw, Quick Wireless Charging is SUPER DAMN COOL :3

Erm, I don't know what the fuck you're thinking, but the Note 3 has 5.1.1(Officially) on it, and looks to be getting the new 6.0 as well. Not to mention that I got myself a Galaxy Tab S, (10.5) and I've not regretted it all. the power users who dislike the lack of support for the Tab devices, can easily root & put custom roms (as tripping knox is a laughable joke, once support is ended really) -As Samsung makes it rather easy to root & place your own roms on the devices Though honestly, I look at phablets like the note 3, and wonder 'what braindead fuck think this is a one handed device when your are using it for anything past phone calls or checking a notification' I seriously think that to large is a laughable joke, and honestly the note series has ALWAYS been a 2 handed phone, with the S-Pen being among the best and more accurate styluses, matching up to drawing surfaces that cost multitudes more, and while I honestly think the whole 'note' bit is clunky, it's real stretch comes from marking screenshots, drawing, and otherwise allowing the creation of legally binding signatures that can be saved. Though this review has made it easier to decide to get a Note Pro tablet (10+inch) to Replace my Tab S, as with as much as I love my Tab S, I really wish that it supported the S-pen which is frankly damn right fucking amazing for drawing on a phone/tablet.

The Note 5 is my favorite Samsung phone of 2015 But I think that it doesn't hold a candle high enough to the Note 4 since it does lack quite a number of features that the Note 4 had. Linus made a great point about heavy power users who use gigantic aftermarket batteries and high-capacity SD cards. These are the type of users who are drawn to the Note due to its large size and flexibility. Now that these 2 are somewhat gone (perhaps the SD slot may return), it lost part of that flexibility. I think with the recent announcement of the LG V10 (which has both), heavy power users who don't use the S Pen all that much may consider the V10 as an alternative. Speaking about the S Pen, it's still my favorite feature on the Note and I love using it on the Note 5 as much as I did on the 4. Don't get me wrong. I love the Note 5 and it's one of my top devices for 2015. It's just something I'd like to get out of my system.

I have purchased notes from the original, to my current note 4 edge. I did not buy this one because of the reasons you stated at the end. They missed the mark for people like me who bought the phone as power users or creative or creation users. The lack of interchangeable batteries, up-gradable storage, and real software or even gimmicks focused on us, and just kind of the overall "here is a new phone with a pen in it" attitude this note has been given from samsung. They focused more on the s6+, and completely missed the mark on attracting old users like me to purchase a new note series. even the edge is missing on this phone, something that is fantastic on my note4. This has been the best review so far on the new note, thank you for your candor at the end, you hit the mark for old users.

I don't know what to do. I own a Note 4 and I just hate the touchwiz on it but I love the S pen. I want the Note 5 a little bit, but I also want the iPhone 6S Plus. I came from an iPhone to the Note and I feel like I need that iPhone back. Android just isn't what iOS is.

Great to finally hear a reviewer say this about android OEM's. I love android but hate the fragmentations.

Why drop your Note 4 Im curious? What makes the Note 5 so amazing being that it no longer has an IR Blaster, removable battery or SD card? In addition the Note 5 has a two step process to remove the S-Pen instead of one. The Note 5 is a fingerprint magnet and more slippery in the hand unlike the Note 4. Its made up of glass therefore easier to break upon accidentally dropping it. Please someone tell me what makes the Note 5 so amazing?

The last point is kind of so true with expensive Samsung products and the anemic updates. I feel so lucky that I got an update in September on my Note 3. 2 years after its release and it still gets updates? Not too bad for a Samsung product, but it's probably the last one. Thank god there is the XDA community. :D

The Smart Lock criticism is actually because Linus doesn't know he's supposed to swipe the screen, not the lock button below, it actually forces Trusted Devices to turn off until unlocked (user of GS6 here with Gear S as trusted device)

I actually like bottom speakers. Keeps it from being muffled in the pocket or any soft surface.

Someone that actually addresses about the software update thing!!! Thank you. I just love android but the manufacturers don't update their devices. For example i've got a LG G Flex ( great phone) but i'm stuck on kitkat. The thing is they won't even unlock the bootloader for us to make a custom rom. Now, i know Apple is overpriced and the OS feels kinda "closed" , but they actually care about their consumers (the Iphone 4s has ios 9 !!). Now that's a thing that Samsung and other companies have to consider rather than making a ton of different models that they won't support after a few months

The thing about the iPad 2 being updated to iOS 9 is that since 7 it has run at approximately 7 frames per second...

Isn't lame long term support kind of a staple for android phones across the board with the exception of nexus and Nvidia stuff? It's why you kind of HAVE to root and install a alternate bootloader just so you can get more then a years worth of updates if you're lucky enough to get any at all.

Isn't it waterproof too? That is a nice feature, though I do love the features in my note 3 that this lacks

Linus made a good point. When Samsung tries to sell you a phone, they try really, really hard. After you've bought a phone from them though, that's the end of their support. Note 3 had a lens flare unlock effect when it was launched with Android 4.2.2. The lens flare unlock effect was lost in Android 4.4.2, but Samsung customer reps have no answer for me. Also, being in a smaller country, I only received the Lollipop update in May 2015, about 10 days from Android M's announcement, when other countries got it 4-6 months before myself. They make good phones, but their after sales is horrible, and they do not even attempt to build a long term relationship with you.

I don't know if it's just me but I don't seem to be enjoying LMG as much as I used to before the big move. Maybe it's just the lack of hardware releases or the lack of PC builds.

3:10 what made me get the note 5 over Galaxy s7 edge/ note 4. Also the edge series had a faulty screen and after a while would get a pink line. The note 5 doesn't have any of that. And despite the microsd and removable battery of the note 4, I would rather go with power and looks.

Precisely why I decided not to wait for the Note 5 over the S6. I loved the Note 3 so much, but losing the expandable storage and replaceable battery made it a bit of a silly choice.

Video Tip: When filming shots of the screen don't use a polarizing filter on the camera or remove the screen protector on the phone. The shots had a rainbow look to them. Hey look, I gave the experts a tip.

Well... i used to have a Note 1, and it was a very good smartphone, but it was so slow that i bought an Alcatel Idol 3 6045K (5.5 Dual-Sim model), and gave the Note to my mom ( witch make her happy). At least, now i can hear the phone ringing, not that little noise on the backgound. For the Summer, an AMOLED display is the best, LCD IPS + polarized sunglasses make no good combination :( .

My Galaxy S2 has never been so useful actually. Last month i installed the Resurrection Remix Rom (based on Android 5.1.1 CM) on it and feels faster than it ever was. I've been using this Rom for long enough to say that it is even more stable than any other official Samsung S2 Rom i had on it before. Battery life is amazing as well. This Rom also exists for the Note series. I kinda feel like going on ebay and buying a Note 2 for cheap just to install this Rom :D

I still absolutely adore my Note 3. I don't use the stylus day to day, but for the rare occasion I need to jot something down quickly, it's great to have. My next phone will eventually be a Note 4. The Note 5's lack of upgradeable battery and SD storage is an absolute deal breaker. Hands down. My Note 3 just bulldozes its way through emulators, which I keep on a 64gb Micro SD along with all my music and photos. I also have the higher capacity Anker battery with custom backplate, which actually adds a little nice weight, and nice thickness. It feels like a piece of paper with the stock setup now! :) I couldn't kill the stock battery in a day anyway, but it's nice to know the slightly thicker battery lasts for 2-3 days...but I'm not a teenage girl who never even lets the screen auto-dim, let alone shut off. Note 5: Why you do dis Samsung!?

+Jween Tech actually what your missing out on is a processor that is absolutely lag free when handling all apps and software, which is worth the loss of the sd card, but in fact if people would do their research they would know that companies are al ready releasing cases that include expandable battery packs WITH expandable storage, so you now get it all!!
