Colors on the 22 look a bit more saturated and punchy, but the S20 FE seems to do a tad bit better in low-light (dark) scenes. Skintones do look a little more normal and natural with the S22.

Excellent review. I had both. When I was eligible to upgrade my Galaxy S10, I discovered the S20 FE. The specs blew me away. I wasn't ready to give up the earphone jack or the SD card slot and the FE seemed to be the last of that breed. The size (large) put me off but I got used to that really fast. Then along came the Galaxy S22 and when it came out, every carrier (in the US) seemed to be giving them away. I was offered a free upgrade as long as I turned in my S20 FE. I reluctantly agreed. I kinda wish I hadn't. For anyone needing to buy a refurbished phone, I highly recommend the S20 FE. It is a great phone. If I didn't still have my S10 in reserve, I'd buy an S20 FE to keep as a backup.

@@GadgetRevNow it's even weirder to not have sd card(for flexibility), and audio jack for a flagship device. many flagship device buyers wish their pricy ear/headphones can be enjoyed while watching/listening to their phones, just like they did before. you can't fully enjoy the verstaility,as well as the technology of a flagship phone's "cutting edge" display if the phone manufacturer skipped on providing BETTER audio hardware (DAC,headphone amplifier), which was eliminated to cut cost? bluetooth codecs and DACs sucks! elimination of sd card & audio jack is a disgusting apple's move that samsung COPIED for cost cutting & profit. a good multimedia device must have excellent sound & display.

To my untrained eye the only thing that's clearly better on the s22 is the dynamic range and macro shots. To your average point and shoot type of photographer it doesn't make much real life difference (if any) and that's a great achievement by the s20 FE/S22's failure . We might've gotten to the point where the evolution is not as easily perceived as it was 5 years ago. Had my s20 FE for 2 years now, was looking to change to the s22 but this makes me wanna keep for it as long as the battery gets me through a day. Even more so when the overall UI experience is not too far off the current model.

Not a big fan of contrasty, punchy colors. They're called punchy for a reason, because they are boosted. But I suppose the s22 is more color accurate (lower delta e of produced images as per notebookcheck testing). Otherwise, I really like the color rendition of the s20fe. They remind me of the natural colors of older iphones.

I've often found camera phones upgrades are very minimal and the difference in price often does not justify the upgrade. I know the word free upgrade is thrown around, but it's just free when it's 60 bucks a month for 2 years, or just have a sim only deal and pay 12 bucks a month. Better off spending that 1000 buck saving and buying a real camera if that's what your after. Personally I kept my F. E due to it being 12mp and much bigger individual pixels, no fan of the pixel binning method. The 22 has a sensor slightly bigger but crams 8 times more pixels on it resulting in tiny pixels.... Selling numbers to people that think more is better, Quantity vs Quality. Might help with heavy cropping

Do you suggest getting the s10+ or the s20+? We're talking about someone who keeps their phone for atleast 5 years, I've watched the video you made about them but I still can't decide, mainly because the price difference (I can afford both but it's still great to save some money) and the 120 Hz, and also is the unlocked refurbished version from Amazon great? My country doesn't sell neither phones so I can only get them from Amazon, anyways great entertaining videos and keep up the good work.

How much is the difference by the way? Two phones are entirely different I tell you. I used both of them. So if you want better battery life and longer updates, go with S20+ but if you need the headphone jack (like I do, for vlogging, I have 3.5mm external mic) I will simply go for S10+. It is cheaper too saves you a bit for your next phone.

Yeah, I'd go for the most recent. Also, S10+ are aging so all used S10+ with probably have weaker battery. S20+ is also a bit faster. 😉 By the way, get the Snapdragon version. S20 series has two variants FYI. Careful.

I take pictures of glitter and have trouble with finding true colors for blue, purple, black. I normally have to play with filters on my older Galaxy and walk around my house into different lights and shadows to try to get the color to be true while not losing definition. Can you recommend which you think would be truer to color in this situation.

Go to notebookcheck and look for phones with the lowest delta e on their cameras. You can also see the color accuracy per color. The s22 (dE 5.7) is more color accurate than the s20 fe (dE 7.5)

I'm noticing my older Samsung phones have washout video output now. I think Samsung is doing that deliberately for older models. I actually started marking the S21 lineup to see if that will be the case after few years and I will call out Samsung if that happens. That's bad.

It is definitely smoother on 60 fps compared to 30 fps (for S20 FE), I noticed. But colors, low light and details, S22 is a bit better.

I think the camera wasnt cleaned properly and that is why colors are a little washed out. I can tell you they look just right on my phone. Maybe they upped the vibrance on the 22 just for "show". Idk.
