Samsung Galaxy S21 FE vs S20 FE Camera Comparison (Both on One UI 4.0, Android 12)

Howzit everyone, welcome back to another camera comparison. Maybe you have the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and are considering upgrading to the Galaxy S21 FE, but are not sure if you’ll see enough improvement in camera quality. Hopefully this camera comparison helps you decide. They each have the same cameras: 12MP main wide camera, 8MP 3X telephoto camera, 12MP ultra wide angle camera and 32MP selfie camera. Both are running One UI 4.0 (Android 12).
The main difference is the chipset, the Galaxy S21 FE has the Snapdragon 888 and the Galaxy S20 FE has the Snapdragon 865. Will there be any different in image processing due to these different chipset? Let’s find out.

Except that it's a bit brighter on the S21 FE, everything else is equal but I love the cooler tone of the S20 FE

I would like to add that the ultrawide does not have OIS, and on the pro mode you can't select the telephoto lens. I made some tests with the 20 FE and there are some details that nobody tells you. Like you can't shoot with the tele camera with 60 fps, no matter the mode. And it sometimes doesn't activate if you have the subject too close or there isn't enough light. A nice thing is, if you start recording with it using the zoom lens, and you don't change the zoom, it will keep using that lens, wherever the subject is and no matter how much light it is. One other little thing is, with stabilization on, using 60 fps crops in a bit more than 30 fps, and sharpens the image a bit and overall the subject or text of what is filmed is clearer, too bad it will never use the tele lens, it will make another crop if you zoom. i thing as far as cameras are concerned the s20 fe has nothing to be replaced with here.

Thanks for the detailed comparisons. Please consider doing group selfies sitting at a table in future videos as that gets used pretty often and the S20 FE is really bad for that type of shot, blurry and smoothed out.

i kinda like the S21FE on selfie at night bcuz its more brighter, but as u say it results to much more noise. for around 450usd for the S20FE i guess its a much better choice compared to the 699usd on the S21FE.

I have an S20 FE. If you notice in the video tests for the rear cameras, one thing that bothers me in the S20 FE is the excessive contrast, which causes a lot of information to be lost in the dark parts. In S21 FE this does not occur. Shadows present much more information than in the S20 FE. Note this at 6:51 in the tree in the background (left side).

thats' true... but the opposite works better to S20FE when we have a bright area I feel like S21FE loses detail on bright areas. Basically thats it S20 FE loses details on dark areas SF21 FE loses details on bright areas

They are so similar, 21fe has a tendency to have HDR like colour and more over sharpen, while 20fe has slight more natural like colour. Both phones tend to have it's over exposure (typical Samsung affair). If not 5G, 20fe wins here.

Man this video was a lot of work, thanks dude, I just came from some f-ing hoax comparison videos that were identical photos except some had altered saturation, not really taken with different devices, and it was obvious. Too bad KZbin doesn't f-ing let us downvote hoax videos like that, in Google's infinite wisdom. But thanks again it's obvious how much effort went into this video.

Both fones are gr8. The pick for me is definitely S20fe because of it's snapdragon processor which is definitely a yes for me over the Exynos. Samsung should either improve the exynos or should discontinue in high end phones as many non-tech savvy people do not understand the difference and later they regret it!

Overall the pic quality is very similar. if one has to buy a mid-budget Samsung phone, S20 FE is still a great choice cause it will have lower cost compared to S21 FE. One reason to prefer S21 FE would be to have latest android 12(which is great to have), S20 FE was released with Android 10. Anyway, thanks for another good comparison Grant, well done.

Damn right they have. Samsung about to release the S23 so I'm hoping for something good. Imagine we get 108 MP for the regular S23 along with the S23 Plus. Then the Ultra is rumored to get a 200 MP camera. Samsung might have to up the camera since that's a huge resolution just to be cropped into 12 MP.

You could change Tint, Contrast, Saturation, Highlight, Shadow, of the image on the S20 FE pro mode, under the "Standard" icon, aside the WB icon. The S21 FE lacks that in the Pro Mode?

Hey guru Kindly provide following inputs aswell for Samsung Fe s21 1. When the 4G network is just 1 out of 4 lines, is the reception and call quality good? Which specification tells this aspect? 2. #1: Not sure what you mean by lines. Are you talking about LTE bands? If so, then check if the 4G bands it supports are what you need for your wireless service. #2: Also, not sure why you'd connect to a wifi network with no connectivity. If you do, then most devices won't get data.

I go S21FE chipset plus better have camera sensor in S21Fe, I afford so I don't mind the price. I watch 5 youtubers who compared this two phones before I buy, but yeah I more convince with S21FE ,. camera and performance wise, but if you are in budget meal, s20 fe is also great choice.

I'd go S20 FE. Main difference is the chipset. You also lose the microSD card in the S21 FE if that matters to you as well.

Watching this in February 2023 and i'm going to save for buy the S20FE in some months.

People's selfie of S20FE look like zombie. The frontal camera of S20FE to take selfies is horrible, the skin looks like colour grey and people looked uglier hehehe The normal camera is great, but the frontal one is a disaster for selfies. Great review my friend!

S21 is a bit sharper in some photos, slightly better HDR but not worth paying 200$ extra, especially that you get a smaller screen and no microsd slot, and no charger. Total BS. Get S20 FE while it's still available.
