@Avishar I had iPhone for last 10 years, even though cameras are truly amazing, zoom capabilities of my S22U make it much more preferable when taking pictures. A minor difference in picture quality can be overlooked, but a huge difference in zoom capabilities are just making S22U much more useful.

If you still have the S22 Ultra, you should revisit this comparison. As part of the late August/early September update, there's been a significant update to how the cameras process images. The images now look even more comparable to DSLR, especially when in 108MP camera with "Detail Enhancer" enabled.

As someone who had Iphone as go-to phone laste 10years I have S22U one now and I am blown away by this phone in general, better experience then I had in any Iphone, camera wise its next lvl compared to anything we have on market, for me highest quilty feature is portrait video, it looks like a movie, you can literally take HD moon photos, the one you saying is not used so much, Id find it usefull only when taking photos with large group of people in it, otherwise i prefer standard 3:4

It's very interesting to see how good mobile cameras has improved over the years. I recently ordered a S22 ultra, just to play around. I thought if this is that good, i might as well just have it. Gonna play around with landscape photography and low light shots at night. But gonna use tribod if the light is way too low.

I have the S21, S23 and S24 Ultra. They are nothing compared to the dedicated camera. In fact, after4 taking the picture with any of this models, the pictures get distorted because the software is trying to refine the photo and you cant even turn it off. This is a known issue with Samsung ultra phones. And don't forget that the 200 megapixel is enlarged by the software. The sensor in the camera is much much smaller. This is how Samsung cheats and lie to people. This issues are in Pro mode as well. This is true. Anyone who wants to buy Samsung for the camera, do your research. The camera is good only for day to day photography.

It would be interesting to see RAW shots between the two. You could then match the S22 and the EOS camera settings and apply the same filtering in Lightroom. Most users won't be shooting RAW, but a lot of users won't add any color correction to their DSLR shots either. Overall, great comparison to see!
@458Avinash
@458Avinash 2 жыл бұрын
My thoughts as well. Some of the Canon shots didn't look colour corrected enough. I felt this because I use an R6 and Pixel. Pixel definitely has great computational photography and portrait shots are very pleasing too. And for social media, I could do with Pixel JPEGs in certain scenarios. Definitely not for Prints, I mean, I can, but it wouldn't be anything like the R6 (or even enough to compare with my old 700D). Samsung oversharpens and saturates a bit more. Since we cannot undo that without losing detail, For the R6, Lifting the shadows and using masked sharpening to give a more comparable image would be better. These days people don't buy mirrorless to shoot JPEGs.

Most people who shoot with DSLRs shoot in RAW, shooting in JPG is like buying a Ferrari, but only driving in first gear. A mobile is not even comparable to a good DSLR camera. Of course, straight out of the camera, on a TV screen, a mobile photo can look better. But if you are knowledgeable, and know how lightroom works. So the result will be considerably much better with a DSLR.
@josebarboza4875
@josebarboza4875 2 жыл бұрын
I feel like in all Samsung pictures the colors are really saturated making every object look separated (almost like there is a black line around every object looking like draw) while the Pro cam makes the colors softer and making everything looks in blended and realistic.

You should not be so impressed.... He compares a HIGHLY processed S22 photo to a alomst zero processed R6 photo. If you process the R6 photo equal to the S22 it will be way better (btw. It´s an EF Lens, adapted to the R6 - it´s not an RF lens, made for the R6 and even if you take that into account it seems he own a very very bad (soft) lens. Send me a RAW shot of the R6 and you will see, whats possible... The only reason to prefer the S22 is that you have a lot less work to do.

For statics objects and good light Im use the 108MP in many cases but I have to say, the portrait take great pictures. I sell photos and for 2 and a half years I have only used my phone, 1st because in 4"x7" photos up to 2'x3' posters there are no differences in quality, if there are certain details that most people will not notice. And 2nd, it is more challenging to be able to get the shot you want because of the limitations of the phone in terms of cameras but...the rain is not an obstacle, nor the sea, nor the rivers because it is waterproof....obviously, camera is camera but for small jobs it's great. And I have to said....great video!!!

Excellent work. So good, everything youve touched on is practical real world testing information. So much better than even the biggest youtubers. Who spend 14 minutes talking about on paper specs while holding the phone in their hands. This is the best work I have seen in a review video. And Im convinced that I can more than get away with buying a flagship camera phone to make youtube videos and some social media photography, than going and having to buy a mid range phone and a dedicated camera.

I think the s22 is adding sharpening and clarity witch gives It a compressed crunchy look where the r6 looks very nice. At night the s22 will beat out the r6 because it does up the exposure in phone and such but when editing you'll notice the dynamic range in a raw file from the r6 is mutch better. The phone can probably beat out some entry level crop censor cameras but it can't beat a full frame uncompressed raw file from these newer cameras like the sony a1, canon r6, nikon z9

So I have a bad habit & hobby of shooting off photos and getting pictures on dark rides @ Disneyland. The strength smartphones have over are: - Lighter, not heavier like a mirrorless or dslr + lens. - Better lighting conditions to get pictures on the fly. - Don't have to time it & can snap away. Strengths actual camera bodies + lenses have over smartphones: - Can get a richer, clearer photo. - Images, blurred or not, can still be seen. - Media captured can be further edited for more detail. Ups & downs, still can't go wrong with either. But just be mindful that smartphone handsets have a long way to replicate the same media richness that designated cameras can do.

Also, comparing an unedited/unprocessed/unsharpened image out of a DSLR versus a ultra-processed, filtered and modified shot in a phone is kind of skewed. So if we're talking actual image quality, then the DSLR will win every time. BUT! If we're talking delivery time, and quickly adapting it for social media feeds. Then there's no need for a DSLR anymore for most people.

I'd argue there's no point in making an entire video to come to a conclusion every person knows by default, so this is definitely a waste of time. It's comparing apples to oranges to see which one is "better", which is extremely vague and most of the time it's perceived as "looking better", in which case he's being straight up unfair to his expensive camera gear in order to draw in an audience and falsely convince them a phone is ok, even against this camera, which is unbelievably false.

I appreciate how your photography-centric reviews focus not only on the positives but also honestly present any limitations in the phone cameras. Your balanced approach helps consumers make informed decisions.🙌

Bottom line, unless you're working in professional video industry, as a photographer or a film producer, you can just buy a flagship phone from Samsung or IPhone. I'd even use an S22 ultra or even the S22+ as a vlogger or a KZbinr

That's what's happening , phone companies are not marketing their cameras to photographers. It's the hobby shooter that they market to, not many people walk around with stand alone camera systems anymore.

I have the best of both worlds, the s22u and the iPhone 13 pro max and I prefer the S22U. Did you take pics with the raw camera app and pro mode, both free from Samsung? Apple doesn't offer anything like that.

I have noticed that the S22U's photos are consistently sharper than the R6's but when I look at them side by side the Samsung's photos look a bit oversharpened though it is crazy how close the smartphones have gotten to pro cameras because of computational photography though R6 will destroy the S22U when it comes to video as the phone cannot process those many images at the same quality.

For me the oversharpening instantly gives it away especially on every wide shot. I'm really interested to see what these pictures would look like without all that oversharpening, I bet it would be even more pleasing.

GREAT comparison - quick question and that is for someone just starting out in photography/videography, should I still invest in a "real" camera even though I have the S22 Ultra?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think either night or zoom photos use both the 12MP and 108MP sensors to combine the images and provide a sharper photo. I may be wrong but saw something about a feature like that during the announcement.

Great video! That church shot could have been made a lot better on the R6 by placing it on a tripod and taking a long exposure!

Great video bro!!! Can you please recommend a small camera that can take close up pictures with very clear details on both small and large screens?. I'm on a budget of $2500 and currently confused if I should just get an S22 Ultra or an actual small camera to take good pictures for my grand mother's 70th birthday.

It kinda comes close if viewing on small devices, but its a fully 'computer processed' image vs not properly processed. In the R6 there's no computational processing taking place like HDR imaging, shadow pull, sharpening, iso compensation etc. The R6 is pretty much SOOC whereas the raw files on the phone are being fully processed, computational photography. At the very least he should've enabled one computational photography mode on the R6, like HDR. Sensor to sensor the bit depth alone on the much larger sensor blows anything on a smaller sensor away. Put them both through same processing and you'll see.
