After 4 months of using the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, we can definitely say that the honeymoon period is over. But how has the S23 Ultra held up in this time? In this video I share my experience as a lifelong Apple iPhone user who switched to the S23 Ultra. After 15 years of using iPhones, I can't help but think: Can the S23 Ultra be responsible for a defining moment for Android devices?

I agree with the keyboard. Samsung keyboard comes up with wrong words sometimes when i am using swipe feature. Sometimes Bixby gets activated automatically when my phone is on the table and I am talking to my family members. Haven't experienced the delay with screenshot or the camera app. I haven't come across any other issues tough.

@@xShinobiXx If you didn't know Apple buys displays from Samsung for their iphones, the resolution is the same, ppi similar if not also same, the only thing is that iphones go for more natural color grading by default, while on galaxies its more vibrant by default, but you can still change it in the settings. It's what DalPalWXMan said, at this point it's just preference, but the quality is pretty much equal.

I swapped from iPhone 14 pro to S23 plus (ultra felt a little too big in the hand). I still use an iPad and Apple TV as we have films in iTunes. I find having cross platform gadgets works okay for what I use them for. Even swapped my Apple Watch for a Galaxy watch 5 and loving using both Samsung gadgets. Not having a brand loyalty and going for what works best for you is so liberating.

I know ultra seems big but it's worth the extras it comes with... especially the spen and the zoom for the camera... the s pen let's you do so much wirelessly .... take a picture so no one is left out of the picture in a group photo .... while your watching a video skip to the next video .... turn the volume up and down and more... but I do understand and it was hard for me to see what the hype was about but now I keep an iPhone for family and my S23U is for me 😂😂😂 the customization is crazy on these phones!

Long time iPhone user myself. I started the switch with the S21U. Now I have the S23U, and this is really the best phone out there with its chip designed for galaxy, which resulted in an even better performance and outstanding battery life. This one is a keeper. @@casual257 s8 club here The s8 is really a 😮 phone right? My phone never really had any major issue. Although it is a refurbished one. But even refurbished 6 years now. And it is doing it's job. But man i got to say. It is unbelievable how well the s23 ultra is. The S pen❤. I would like to purchase one. Since the volume button got broken. But on the other hand, the Ultra is quite big and shiny. I don't want to have a phone this big, which people would like to steal or destroy because if jealousy haha. Even with a case on, it is not easy to hide in the hands like an s8 right? I would like to buy an standard s23, because of it's size, but then again no s pen, at almost the same price like ultra 128 GB😢. And even that standard s23 is like 950€. 😅 the prices are insane now adays. So i thought to upgrade to a 34 5g. Even though it is bkgger with no s pen. But atleast cheap right? Do you have any recommendation yourself? What would you buy as next.

On the s23 ultra you can adjust the shutter speed so it registers the capture button the second you touch it vs the standard option which triggers once you let up your finger. Also if you swipe down from the top with 2 fingers it opens menu all the way 😉

I don't know if you mentioned it here, but Samsung's Smart Switch app is what I find to be the easiest way to transfer any and all files/apps/contacts or whatever it may be, from one phone to another, you just connect the phones either wirelessly if you're switching between 2 Samsung phones, connect them with a C to C cable, or if you have an iPhone and a Samsung phone you connect them with a Lightning to C cable and it works flawlessly, you can pick and choose pretty much anything and everything for what you would like to transfer, and it works both ways.

There’s a solution to the auto-rotation when you’re watching KZbin videos, IF I’m understanding your issue correctly. When checking the "auto-rotation" button after swiping down to view the menu, keep it on "Portrait." Now, when you rotate your phone horizontally, there should be a button that pops up on the bottom right of your screen (where you back and home buttons are). When you click that button, it’ll make your screen go into landscape mode. Turn your phone vertically, click the button again, and it’ll turn your phone back into portrait mode. Hope that helps!

I have just ordered the S23 and browsing around for hints and tricks on the S23. Really looking forward to setting up and using this beast I have never been an IOS user due to Apple being such a closed OS with limited customization. In the early days of Android and the Galaxy series, I was able to keep Android current through XDA Developers via rooting my old phones for a few of generations of Android which saved me a lot of hard earned cash having to buy a new handset to get access to the newer features of Android, now that's an open source OS for you. Welcome to whole new world that is Android, both functional and being able to make it your own. Thanks for the video which has resulted in you gaining another subscriber.

You can actually put the brightness control on the first pull down menu. Just swipe twice and then enable brightness control on the quick panel layout by clicking the triple dots option. You can also put your six most used quick panel buttons as your first six so that they're available on the first pull down. If you have more than six, there's just nothing for it because that's the size limitation. That's pretty much the case for all phones though because they want room for notifications.

Thanks for making this video! I had a 12Pro and then went to the 22 ULTRA, really liked it but my friends hated how I had the 'green bubble' and couldn't see me in 'Find My'... so I went and upgraded to the 14 Pro & now I'm sad lol... The camera on my 14 Pro is awful, not sure exactly why or if I had just gotten used to the 22 Ultra's captures and for some reason my 14 Pro's screen likes to freeze and lag a lot. I was thinking of going back and getting the 23 Ultra when I can turn the iPhone in. I do have an apple eco system however the Andriod system with Samsung just seems to make more sense to me. Also not super important but Apples new way of wallpapers is horrible, I dislike how you cant really change the Lock screen and Home screen, everytime I try it wants to copy to both. I feel like its just user preference and people shouldn't be 'green bubble' shamed lol.

Three other problems I've found is this: when connected to my Android Auto in my car, Google reads out my messages like a sped up record! It's hilarious but I can't understand what she's saying!! Secondly, I use apple music and I find the volume goes very low when connected to Android Auto. I've checked settings in phone and car but to no avail. Lastly, I hate the way my images are being compressed when uploaded to social media. I have even changed this setting but to no avail. Use modes & routines to deal with issues like youtube rotation etc. You can use this to disable autorotate when the app is launched and if you rotate the phone a small 'rotate' icon appears temporarily. GoodLock & Good guardians is an excellent add-on for more detailed customising. Dex is awesome and screen mirroring / app casting takes seconds. I have an ipad and the only two things I prefer is the photo editing software and the stability of Skydemon flight planning app.

Hi there! I record the first a-roll entirely at my desk with two angles. Then when I finish the first edit in its entirety, I try to find bits where I could re-record outside, to add a bit more of a dynamic. Great video! I made the switch from a 14 PM 3 months ago as well. For perspective: i'm just a regular guy with a 9-5 job. I'm not a camera or video guy; I just point and press a button and see what it looks like afterwards. I gave up the 14PM b/c I didn't think the iPhone was doing enough innovation-wise to justify the price year after year. The kicker was iOS 16; bugs on launch and it got no better (for me at least) with 16.1, .2. 3 so I decided to jump into the Android pool, so to speak. While there's lots I like, I do miss some of the simple things (Alex called it housekeeping---I like that word) that Apple does that some of you tech guys would just dismiss. Would I switch back when the iPhone 15 comes out? Ummm...not sure. I will say I'm not a fan of One UI. For me, its just too much; I don't need all those extra bells and whistles. And sometimes I think there's a battle on my phone between Google apps and Samsung apps, lol. For me, that's been a pain, ngl. Honestly, from the renders i'm seeing on the Pixel 8, I might go that route. Anyway, great video Alex. Thank you!

I really think in the early days of smart phones. I'm talking your iPhone 4's and equivalent Samsung's. The IOS and Iphone experience was alot smoother. The software always seemed to move and operate alot smoother than the equivalent Samsung. The look of the software and the actual hardware looked alot more high end and felt more premium in the hand than those earlier model Samsung's. But I feel over years apple haven't really done alot to evolve the overall experience. There main focus has been the release of multiple products to add on and focusing on the integration of their eco system which is great in some ways. But today with android in its current format and with the new looking skin's on Samsung Android. I just think it's a better overall experience than IOS. IOS is pretty boring and basic these days. I think simplicity is a big part of why people like apple so much. Apple is also very good at marketing lol and making it seem like a feature that's been around for years is the next best thing and they always do it in their apple way that usually further locks you into their eco system lol. But I feel like android is ahead of the kerb these days. It feels alot less restrictive and you can really tinker it to how you like your phone to look and operate. I've got an S22 Ultra and to be honest I probably don't even use half of the feature available to me. But I just enjoy having premium hardware available and using android so that's why I bought the Ultra. But I still use my Mac book very occasionally but still prefer Mac over windows. But like you Alex I pretty much use my phone for everything my computer mostly sits there collecting dust lol.

Oh man thank you so much for the support there! Really appreciate it. Totally agree with you, I kinda took it for granted that I had so many Airtags and how convenient it is when looking for car keys, etc. I have tried the Galaxy Watches, and really enjoy their design, the weight and the flexibility in choosing cool watch faces. Much easier than the Apple Watch. But I couldn't really get used to the notifications, they felt very inconsistent. Sometimes I'd get them, sometimes it would be delayed and other times, I'd get no notifications at all. I think if Samsung makes the notifications really sleek it could be a great alternative. The Watch Ultra for me has been awesome, especially in my health and sleep tracking, hence why I am reluctant to let go of it. I am very soon trying a Garmin which is agnostic to Apple/Android and maybe that's when I can start not even needing an iPhone. Its like the gaming folder which use to come in windows Vista / 7. I have downloaded google keyboard and microsoft keyboard too, but haven't tried it yet. Its just there on my phone just incase if I want to switch on future. I read somewhere that I can switch keyboard on android with a tap of a button, but will have to enable that feature. But samsung keyboard comes with so many features. Also I keep my display brightness point at 20% and its still very bright. By doing so, the battery keeps running longer. The only app that I am not using from samsung is the samsung messages. I am using Google messages instead. The reason is that google messages can permanently block spam messages which don't have any numbers (they are very irritating). Drawback of using Google message is that it doesn't show sms on samsung watch when received, but still works with link with windows. The features that I use alot are spilt screen with 2 fingers, keep my phone unlocked at home or any safe zone. Automatically go into silent mode when I step inside the office. Link to windows. Call recording. Spen for quick notes. Now I schedule birthday messages throughout the entire year for everyone in advance. I schedule it for 12 am. Now everybody thinks I remember their birthdays and is happy that I am the first one to wish them. My inlaws are also very happy now because. They don't know that, Its just synchronized with samsung / google calender. 😂

Awesome video. I'm having this dilemma also because of just facetime, but Google meet will work just fine I think over time.

Thank you, glad you liked it! I managed to find a compromise with a 'burner' iPhone Mini, but rigth now I don't even use it. Still miss Airdrop sometimes but other than that, I am pretty happy, despite the mixed ecosystem 👊🏼

Hey man, there’s a setting under Maintenance Control (don’t remember the exact name right now) that you set to once a week the phone reboot itself when you’re not using it. I have an iPhone now but used Samsung for years, that setting should help you

The video player in gallery app has option to capture photo from video. It's a tiny in lower left side. You may want to check that.

I've been an Apple consumer (with short stents on android), starting from the iPad Mini 1 and eventually ending at the iPhone XS Max. Tomorrow is the day I finally make the permanent switch to android with the S23U!
