Galaxy S8 and S8+ Skins: dbrand.com/sam...
Our full Samsung Galaxy S8+ text review is here: /2017/05/14/samsung-galaxy-s8-review
For much more details, camera samples, and in-depth data, check it out!
For the last two weeks I've been approached by at least 10 people for the same two questions that always came together. The first was: Oh, is that the new Galaxy? The second is: Well, but does it explode? This proves how much of a footprint Samsung owns in the smartphone market, where people associate the name Galaxy more to a phone than to the Milky way, and where one mistake has only made the brand even more viral.
The result is record sales all across the globe, but the question is if all that marketing accounts to a smart buy for you. Watch our full review to learn more.

I knew the bezels were small, but I never expected the phone to be so small in the hand when I actually held it. My Mate 9 looked gigantic next to the S8, and it's even more amazing when you consider that my Huawei's display is just 0.1" larger than the Galaxy, it really impressed me a lot. The S8 felt as petite as my old 5" Lumia 830, so good job on Samsung for minimising those bezels ^^

Indeed, and to think the old S5 was just launched a few years ago back in 2014, what a leap in design by Samsung. For looks, LG's G6 is a good competitor, and even BlackBerry's KeyOne, though not a bezel-buster, looks incredibly unique in an elegant yet sturdy way. Looks of course are subjective. As it seems, this year's new flagships from Apple, Nokia, HTC, and Huawei have quite a number of rivals to stand up against in terms of design now. Really looking forward to all the phones coming out this year! ^^

TechPassion I was just as amazed as you were, however, dont forget you cant enjoy whole screen size, as the bezels are curved. i dont like the aspect ratio either.. its just pointless to watch videos on this device
@techpassion4126
@techpassion4126 7 жыл бұрын
Tank Man i don't really mind the curved display too much, I actually really like the look of it and don't mind sacrificing a little bit of the display ^^ However, as weird as this may sound, what I do mind is if my phone is too light. I like something that feels substantial and slightly heavy, and my Mate 9 achieves that. I'd love the smaller body of the S8, but the lack of weight makes it feel a tad flimsy for me, even though I can safely assume it was assembled amazingly well. It's an incredibly weird preference I know, but I just love something that's nicely weighted

TechPassion the reason its lighter than previous galaxys is because of VR. People always complained that heavy phones make their head tired when holding a heavy phone to their face.

NewOrder66 Sith the whole idea of someone sponsoring a video on KZbin is already retarded to begin with. As if the video can't be filmed, edited and uploaded without some random 3rd party douchebags sponsoring it. But this is democratic society full of selfish money hungry morons so what do I know..

aestheticsforlife I agree with the other guy awesome battery life, surprisingly very smooth, probably one of the few androids that have allot of apps optimized for it. Every single year Samsung software feels slow and every year reviewers excuse it by saying updates will fix it and every year Samsung doesn't fix the lag issues. Maybe you guys should stop giving Samsung the benefit of the doubt and start going hard on them. Or are you guys like most and are afraid to be blacklisted by major companies that send you phones like Samsung?

Bryan_A99 that's true. One can always get used to a bigger phone including myself, but side by side the S8+ feels uncomfortable compared to the S8. I understand the benefits and need of the bigger one, but Samsung definitely nailed the S8 with that footprint. I've tried the G6 straight after that and it felt like a brick.

Don't get why people hate on brand. Samsung has been killing it and people still talk s**t. No phone is perfect and any android flagship is far more capable than the pathetic iPhone yet iPhone users (I admitt I was one in the past) make up sad cases why they think they're better devices but in reality they're a joke for the price. If iPhones were $500 they'd be in the convo for best value phone but they're almost double that. People need to learn about tech. IPhone is so far behind it's laughable. They're finally going to get LED notification indicator for God's sake! And still doesn't have so many basic features it's unreal they'll been able to sell so many units based on brand loyalty alone.

abcdefg No not really. A lot of Samsung new phones and old ones too have this "Problem". Have you not see the speed tests iphone dominates the Samsung in speed. Even tho it doesn't have the outrageous specs that Samsung do. iPhones are better optimized. Samsung just have the looks and fancy new technology. And what's with that speaker like 1 speaker is so last year.

I've had my Galaxy S8 for a year and a half now and I still love it. I upgraded when my S4 finally stopped working. My only issue with the S8 is trying to find a screen protector that really works for the curved glass and I've just given up at this point. Beyond that not a single complaint.

If you're using the standard S8, 4-6 hours of usage is normal. S8+ gets you up to 6-8 hours(these are screen on times btw). Downscaling the resolution improves your screen on time. Also, if you have bloatware, you should turn them off.

One thing I noticed about the application scaling is that it cuts off the very edges of the content. The bigger battery in the s8+ is very welcome, though - gets me through a full work day of moderate use with about 50% remaining. And, both are definitely the best looking mobile devices on the market.

I'll be really curious if developers really do embrace the DIFFERENT curved screens. Like my games. They often have corner mounted menus or controls. To use the full display on the S8, the developer has to pull those controls in significantly, or tailor angle them around the S8 Specifically. The former is probably more likely, for better general compatibility with different aspect ratios, meaning there will be a display border of unused space. So bezels are "bad", but we'll be replicating that with unused display.
@ChrisJohn_444
@ChrisJohn_444 7 жыл бұрын
JuanBagnell Good points. I agree about it being more likely that developers make changes that compromise in favour of generalizability. Samsung sells a lot of devices, so something will be done to accommodate them for sure. And, overlays don't intrude too much into game immersion, so I don't see it as as much of detractor as are large bezels.

I'll wait and see what OnePlus has up their sleeves with their upcoming phone. If they can offer similar specs at a cheaper price (it will be cheaper), I'm going for it especially if it has front facing speakers and a fingerprint embedded in the screen. The last feature is what Samsung wanted to add to the S8, but was forced to move it to the back at the last minute ( that's what I was told).

Android phones doesn't lag. Samsung touch wiz has a history of lag. The s8 does not lag, I own one and it can stutter a tad. It's not the same as lag. The phone is very fast all the time. He said stutter but people assume its lag, and the stutter is soft, minimal and rare. Ex closing a app is fast but sometimes it will stutter while maintaining the same speed. That was fixed with this update. So far so good. super smooth

I installed an S8 ROM on my Exynos S7 edge and see no lag (or bloat) at all. People really need to learn how great it is to install a ROM. Adaway alone makes root worth doing.

Mark Hense Bixby actually wears down on the phone performance of the phone. The software seem a bit on stable but if you disable it the problem is gone.

What exactly are people doing with their phones? My S8 has never given me LESS than 6 hours of screen on time. Whether I'm playing music, social media, KZbin, or gaming, I can't kill the battery if I tried.

I think Jaime prefered the G6 over the S8 based on the comments in both reviews, and I'm on his team. The S8 is the most beautiful smartphone ever made, bleeding edge specs and all of that, but I think that the G6 for a day to day basis, is the most enjoyable of the two.

I like the direction Samsung is going in but they really need to address software flaws, like the bixby page on the left that lags when you swipe in, or the battery drain issues that most Android phones suffer from. The software continues to turn me off and I'll be sticking with iOS, until something comes along that is worth my money.

Hi! I'm quite confused and a little bit of information would greatly help. In my country the OnePlus 5T prices are at 64GB for $570 and 128GB for $650 while the Galaxy S8 prices are at 64GB for $654 and the Galaxy S8+ 64GB for $730. What should be the best choice? I'm mostly for the camera quality and longest software and hardware support. Thanks guys!

Stop comparing the S8 with the iPhone. It's not nice. I understand that these are high-end phones, but try to get the fact that these are representatives of different realms. This is what makes the tech world beautiful.

The phone is great but one thing I do not like is the software or the new touch wiz being exclusive to this phone only. Why can't they make it available to all galaxy models like what apple is doing with there phones.

I'm a Samsung fan. But, even though I loved the operation of this phone and the screen had a beautiful display. This phone is tiny. I also felt like the phone would break if I was grip it to firmly. I also didn't care for the haptic in screen home button. it's nice that you can swap the the hard buttons, even though I believe the back button should remain on the right. Not the left. my 2 cents. I'm gonna wait for the Note 8

So many people saying 6gb of ram is overkill and that for 4gb is enough. Jamie said the UI is. ram hog. Reality sucks doesn't it people in denial? This is why I'm waiting for the Note 8 and hoping Samsung catches up in the ram department and adds at least 6gb of ram!

Skipping this one and waiting for the NOTE, since Samsung has more time to polish it. Bixby will be ready from the start and fully functional. Probably we're going to have 2 lenses (dual camera) if not an upgrade in megapixels. As well other features worthy of a Note phone.
