Just under a year in and I am very happy with the G6, here is a breakdown of my experience with it. The 8 main things I really like about this phone are... - Wide Angle Camera. - Water and dust resistance (ip68). - Great Build Quality (MIL-STD-810G compliancy). - Flat Screen design. - High Quality Audio DAC. - Headphone Jack. - Extra Storage (SD card) support. - FM Radio built in. Design.... The screen is flat, not curved. I prefer flat screens as less prone to getting knocked and cracked and easier to put a glass screen protector on for extra protection. No camera bump on the back. Fingerprint Scanner / Power Button on back. 5.7” screen with an 18:9 Aspect Ratio. Height 148.9mm x 71.9mm width x 7.9mm depth, 163 gms weight. Glass back and front with a metal frame. Note: I have the Black one which has the top and bottom of the screen also black. Personally I like that look better when the phone is off as the whole screen looks black (Just a Personal Preference). Build Quality... I have a screen protector and a case on it. I have had one major drop drop from about 1.5 metres and no cracks or scratches so far. I put this down to the Great Build Quality (MIL-STD-810G compliancy and the phone having a non curved screen). The odd time I’ve got it wet in the rain, no issues, I’m sure the ip68 water and dust resistance helps here. Screen... Clear and bright, no issues in sunlight. Performance... Very quick and responsive. My main usage is Browsing, KZbin, Music, Camera (Still and Video) Messaging, Texting, Calling, Notes, Maps, Calendar and Email. No issues with any of these. Battery... Easily gets me through the day. Fast charging works well. Charges quickly to 90% then at normal charge speed for the last 10%. I charge it overnight. Note: There is no wireless charging on this model (64GB/4GB RAM with the High Quality Audio DAC). (Wireless charging is available on another model without the DAC). Camera... Photos and videos are great. Love the 2nd Camera Lens set up - the Wide Angle - I use this so many times in order to get everything I want in the photo. I’m not a big user of the Selfie Camera, the odd one I’ve taken looks fine to me. Music... The High Quality DAC really makes a difference when connecting up through the headphone jack. Bluetooth works fine on my Wireless headphones. Through the speaker is good, however not much bass. I have solved this by using the custom setting on the Equaliser and set the bass to maximum (I set the far left bands (16 and 230) to max. With this setting the speaker sounds great. (Through headphones I set the equaliser back to Normal setting otherwise it’s way to bassy). The FM Radio works great, nice interface. Storage... I took my 128GB SD Card from my old phone and put it in the G6 for all my music, photos and videos. I save all new music, photos and videos to the SD Card. If I ever do need more storage I’ll probably get a 256GB SD Card, although I can’t see the need for that for a couple of years at least. The 64GB in built storage I keep free for applications and everything else. No issues with either. In summary... A year on and I am very impressed. The G6 ticked so many boxes, a great device for my needs.

Bryan U The G5 wasn't a module with a phone attached and everyone including you it seems forget that it was first and foremost a SMARTPHONE. It was a good smartphone that had the ability to add modules but no one said you had to. It was still perfectly usable as a normal smartphone and it was a good one at that. Everyone however just decided to jump on this propagandist hate bandwagon because they don't have a mind of their own to think. Also the back was NOT plastic. And anyway what is wrong with a plastic phone? Why is glass (which cracks easily and leaves smudges) and metal (which gets hot and dents) better than advanced plastics which can be made with a scratch healing coating (the coating thay heals scratches like the LG gflex) and can be made to look and feel like any material (whether it be brushed aluminium look or a glass look). It's sad how they've brainwashed you all into thinking glass and metal is somehow better than ADVANCED plastics that is much more technologically advanced and can do so much more. The G5 had a metal unibody. The back was covered in a primer for painting.

Both great phones and will do whatever you need with no problem. The ONLY reason why I bought my wife and I G6's over the S8 is when the guy was showing me both phones and as he was showing me the S8 it slipped out of his hands and dropped maybe a little over 6-7 inches onto the counter. He picked it up and there was a giant crack across the screen. The G6 is durable as hell. Metal with gorrila glass. It will take a beating.

LG G6 for me. Both have advantages over the other in certain things. S8 has better specs and screen. LG G6 has durability, 2 side buttons rather then 4, and a wide angle lens for photos. Personal preference will decide the rest. I really prefer the look and style of the G6.

Finger prints can be copied, face recognition can be fooled by photos but you can't replicate the Iris at the core. It's the safest security to date. Not to mention the most convenient because you literally unlock your phone just by looking at it. Do YOU hear yourself talking? You ought to look in the mirror before you ask that question

Having seen both videos (Mr Mobile's & yours) back to back, I'm left wondering why the G6 has the projected durability point when I saw somewhere it has a front facing Gorilla glass 3 (gorilla glass 5 on the back), whereas the S8 has level 5 gorilla glass on both front and back. Whichever I'd pick (leaning G6 because of the dual cameras - it'd be more of a toss up if the bixby button could be remappable) I'd do a cardinal sin and put an Otter box on it: those prices are too steep not to consider safeguarding it against...we'll, yourself.

Marlan Menuau gorilla glass 5 is shatter resistant but more prone to scratching than gorilla glass 3 or 4. So a gorilla glass 3 on the front is actually much better for protecting against scratches on the screen

You forgot that the G6 screen is full RGB-matrix and not Pentile, so it is sharper.

Sharpness on a 5.x screen with >560 ppi doesn't mean nearly as much as contrast & colors, all of which are better on an AMOLED than on an IPS. S8 does have a negligibly higher ppi than the G6 so it is actually a sharper display between the two, though the difference really wouldn't be perceptible. Personally, the only thing that would make me consider the G6 over the S8 is its lower price, pretty much.

The worst thing about the S8 is bixby, it would be alright if they removed the google assistant but they didnt so now i have an extra button on my phone that's wasting space, samsung could have ditched the bixby thing and added a bigger batery or something useful, but like apple they need there own version of everything. overall not a deal breaker :D
