I prefer the lg g7 as well not a fan of the curved edges on the Samsung panels. I prefer a flat display. That's my own opinion though. I have had the lg g7 for past 3 days and the battery is nothing to worry. Averaging 14-18 hour battery life with 4-4 1/2 SOT. Yes it not as great as Samsung battery but it gets me thru the day from morning to night. I don't care if Samsung lasts 2 days. This is my 2cents though each their own.

Bought s9+ for my dad and g7 for myself, and I kinda like g7 just a tad more. Bit lighter in weight, and audio quality thru headphone is definitely better. I also prefer wide lens as secondary camera as well. Oh and I just don’t feel comfortable holding curved glass. Just a personal preference thing. S9’s display is gorgeous though. Looking forward to upcoming v40 with oled, as well as pixel 3.

I think LG G7 is better but it personally depends on how you use your phone. I listen to alot of music! I currently have a V30 and the LG DAC is amazing. Additionally the boom box feature is a cool addition to the G7. Lastly for my purposes the wide angle camera is far superior to a 2x zoom. And LG's camera software in manual mode is far better than Samsung. Yes Samsung has a better display but LG is good enough. I could see how if you want media consumption on a better screen then the Samsung is the way to go for you.

LG just needs to work on refining their phones instead of reinventing them with each new version. This is something Samsung has been doing since the s6 and you can see how far they have come also. The s9 just feels more refined and complete then the g7 and that's the only thing I really give over it. Otherwise Samsung takes the cake for me

No S9 sales aren't doing well because it's too similar to the s8 and the s8 was such a good phone and so many people bought it that people who needed to upgrade already bought the s8. The s7 had a very similar design to the s6 and that sold over 5o million.

S9 is an excellent phone, no doubt about it, but here in a South Africa, its way too common. I'm just tired of seeing it, lol. That's what kills it for me. The G7 gives you that 'exclusivity' compared to the S9 that you got in the good old days with a Nokia 8850 / 8800 for example,for those who can remember. And the notch? It's different, and its refreshing, sure it kills the visual balance, but in a world of conformity, isn't that nice to have? There's beauty in asymmetry as well. That's my 2 cents.

I honestly believe LG should stop having two different times of the year to release phones. They should try and make the G series smaller and cheaper, focus on nailing the basics properly without so many gimmicks, that way it can compete with the likes of the regular version of iPhones and S lines of Samsung Galaxy, that way they could use the V series for all the gimmicks, features, experiments and premium price tag. And release both at the same time, without releasing so many variants for each line. That way the G could sell for the people that don't think that LG should be charging a premium price tag to compete with Samsung and iPhone, and the V series would sell for the people that think that LG is still worth that premium price tag.

LG doesnt have a single thing going for it that puts it above the S9. Even the sound is debatable since the S9 is rocking duals with Dolby. The S9 currently is the best phone on the market and it IS the most complete phone. That phone you are repping is hideous and you're just saying it is better because you probably dont like Samsung. I've seen this error a lot. The LG G7 does support fast wireless charging via the Qi EPP standard. Up to 10w. it seems just as fast as my S8 and doesn't get as hot.

Two great phones. I like both of these as they don’t compromise on many of the things I look for in a phone. They both have a Headphone Jack, Great Speakers (Samsung in Stereo, LG in mono), SD Card, Waterproofing, Bluetooth 5, Fingerprint Scanner, Wireless Charging... A lot of boxes ticked. Personally the Wide Angle Cam, Quality DAC, Louder speaker, Super bright screen option, FM Radio, Great Build Quality (MIL-STD-810G compliant) and not being a curved screen puts the LG G7 ahead for my personal preference. Again, both great phones in a world of disappearing expandable storage, Headphones jacks etc.

I hate the notch as well but the lg as a smartphone is an excellent phone. The battery despite using a LCD panel and smaller batter and higher resolution screen is still better than the galaxy s9 plus, the audio is on a different level and that wide angle lens is way more useful than telephoto. When/if a Samsung smartphone comes out with a notch, what will you people say? The pixel 3 is also going to have a notch and pixels phones are always better than Samsung.

Notch isn't a problem when you actually have it. It's actually pretty beneficial. The status bar doesn't take up any extra space on the screen, it just lives in the notch, which offers better screen real estate. And even though it's LCD, this screen is very very good. Only thing it loses in is deep blacks, but I can live with that. Despite lacking deep blacks, you won't notice it too much unless you're really looking when trying to hide the notch. In terms of battery, even with a smaller battery, it's still giving me at least 5 hours screen on time everyday, and more when I don't play games and such. UI you can just download another launcher and you'd be set. Even if you don't, Oreo on the LG isn't too bad. They offer things like icon quantity on the screen control, Google feed when you left swipe, swipe up to access app drawer, and the bloatware is minimal to none. I'd have to recheck but the only bloatware I remember seeing is Verizon's mess.

I discovered that update the other day, I had to check for updates to find it since the Notification wasn't pushed. Date should be in Settings -> About Phone -> Software Information. Big improvement for the camera.

Souvik Exynos version. Battery is optimised, game mode enabled to use WQHD and FHD for anything else. I always use the optimisation widget to clear memory etc. My app usage will be different to yours. I used to get 5.5hrs from my Exynos S8 so between 6 and 7 hrs is good for me. If I go mental I can still get 5ish hrs but over 6 the majority of the time.

I have the ThinQ. Pretty sure it's pronounced " think", not thin_Q, which seems to confuse most people. I've had iPhone, hated it. Android gives you what you want. Apple tells you what you can have. I've had Samsung. All my Samsung phones have died a slow, painful death. They don't just quit working, which I guess is a good thing, but they randomly quit certain features, like speaker. Kinda need that, Losing the Sim card, then suddenly finding it, losing the cell signal, then taking forever to find it while I'm standing in the middle of the yard under a clear sky... Of course, in Samsung's defense, I don't upgrade every chance I get. I use a phone until it breaks, so maybe these failures are to be expected. I just thinQ stuff should last longer. (See what I did there :-) Anyway, I have the LG, and in my world, it's a better TelePHONE. Yes, there are people out here who still use their phones as phones. The reception is better, the sound quality is better, the speaker phone is better on BOTH ends, something I never had with any other phone. And the super bright display is great. It's nice to actually be able to see my phone outside in broad daylight! I haven't actually used the S9, but I have a friend who has one. He likes it.

So much hate on LG G7. I think it is better then S9+. LG have more features then samsung especially in music area. Photo in outdoor in this video shows G7 better the S9+, color not as bad as mentioned. Wide angle camera is another great feature. In low light photo (bananas), I think G7 can do better. It seems the camera not focused well. Maybe the shutter slower then S9+ in low light but I'm pretty sure it can do better then the photo sample in this video.

Andre154 I mean sure the screen isn't the greatest.. But it's not the worst. It's far better then the iPhone 8 screen. Or the LGs screen. But far worse then the Galaxy screen or the iPhone screens

Andre154 I beg to differ, at least mine pixel ( I got my pixel after they fixed the issue) it's no where near my Galaxy a8s screen. But damn it's far better then my friends iPhone 7. His colors are dull with no pop while using saturated mode on the pixel gives the pop and life back into the pictures

Akshay There is nothing wrong with the iPhone 7 screen, it only lacks sharpness. But still you are comparing a 2018 phone with a 2016 phone... Obviously it will be slightly better and the iPhone 7 and 8 colours are not that bad.
