Samsung Galaxy S9 Waterproof Test

I’ve finished an all-around water test for my Samsung Galaxy S9.

It is officially announced that Samsung Galaxy S9 is IP68 waterproof. Is it true?
There are two ports that water is most likely slip inside the phone: charging port and SIM card port. So, I made a water test on these 2 ports. And I found that the running water didn’t enter the phone.
In the immersion test, my Samsung Galaxy S9 stayed in the water for 5 minutes, and I found that the touchscreen was disabled while the phone is under the water. So, we cannot take pictures or shoot videos underwater. However, the face ID and screenshot is working underwater.
In the IP68 Water Test, I try my Samsung Galaxy S9 in 1.5-meter water for 15 minutes. The device is still working normally after all these tests.
And I even shot a video underwater. We can shoot video underwater, no worry about water damage. Huawei Mate 10 Pro is awesome!
My suggestion is: Samsung Galaxy S9 is IP67 water resistant. We can use the Samsung Galaxy S9 in the swimming pool but don’t put the phone in water deeper than 1 meter and pay attention to the SIM card slot where is the weakest against water.

@@eccentricpigeon5639 Well if ur usb port is underwater then u dry ur phone . It will warn u a moisture was detected in the usb port. So if u try to charge it makes beeping sound or vibration without sound and disables charger if it is still inside. Just keep s9 standing upright on a table so the USB port can leak the water out to be dried. Or use hair dryer on the port for faster results. Or mabye use a small cloth for the port then voila. Good as new. When u use charger it will check for moisture. So double check always.

@@PanduBiasramadhan well, I have the s8+ and after i take videos with it underwater and want tl watch them right after, a bit of water is getting blown out by the bass, but you have to shake the phone a bit for the water to come out of the speakers completely and then everything sounds fine again. Its probably the same with the s9 since the design didnt really change much.

The way touch screens work is that they're using electrons from your fingers to "touch" the display. Water interferes with that, and that's why your touch screen won't respond to anything (like a stick).

I have this phone. Yesterday I went swimming and forgot it was in my pocket. It was completely submerged underwater for at least 10 minutes when I suddenly realized what I'd done. I got it dried off and covered it with rice for about 2 hours. It is working 100% properly. No issues at all. I love Samsung!

The reason screen has issues when wet is if the water has any kind of heat it triggers the heat sensors in the screen. The heat sensors are what help detect input to the screen. Same with if it's cold water the input won't be detected as the cold water cools the sensors to much

Touch screen stopped working cause you had water on it. Which is conductive to your finger and seems to cancel it out. Wipe the screen and fingers and good to go.

Because every phone has the same feature. If water is in any port that is passing electric currents it could spark and cause a shock or burn. There is no way around this with current technology.

I have a 3,5 years old xperia z2, with which i filmed tons of underwater videos, plenty of times in high speed streams. No problems whatsoever. Though the last time i forgot to firmly close the usb cover and got water "shadows" on half of the screen which eventually dried out and the phone remained perfect. Considering the specs, S9, xz3, etc have better water protection than z2 (which, btw was advertised as a waterproof phone!), so there should be no problem immersing them.into water. It.s not like a god damn amazing stuff that the s9 managed to survive 10 min underwater when i was taking baths with my z2 in the pocket in.mountain rivers. The real problem is if the phone has a bug/gap, etc, how the warranty will.deal.with it? Will your phone be replaced? Until z3, sony exchanged without any comments water damaged phones. Then they changed their policy. Meanwhile, the samsung active bla (or whatever samsung was made waterproof 4 years ago), offered only one waterdamaged phone replacement per guy. So if your 2nd phone felt victim to water, then you were done. I say again, ip68 means the phone is FULLY PROTECTED against water BEYOND 1M DEPTH, the real.problem is dealing with the WARRANTY if the phone fails the test.

If you want to dunk your phine into water, as a precautios check, you should get an internal.pressure measuring application. Install it into your phone, then gently press on the phone. If the pressure rises, the your phone should have no gaps. If the pressure rises only to a small amount or worse, it stais the same, then your "waterproof" phone somehow leaks air - it.s not fully protected, and in case of.immersion water will enter inside your phone.
