So many people don't see how valuable a best budget device can be. It's sad when people buy expensive devices and trade up when the next expensive device comes out. I use my devices for basic tasks I don't need anything really great. Great reviewer and an awesome video. So many people even complain about the better expensive devices. People will always complain about something.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I was going to buy the tab s5e but then they went with the tab A7. Tablets usually last me 2 maybe 3 years, then it comes time to look for a new one again. The 64GB Galaxy Tab 5 SE plus the official Samsung case plus 256gb micro SD card was going to cost me over $400 dollars. That's when I ran across there Tab A7 and I am loving the tablet so far! And I also saved around a hundred $150 bucks or more. Friend of mine bought the Tab S 7 plus for about $700 or more. And he uses his tablet for exactly the same things I do. And your going to be replacing these tablets in round 3 years or so because the battery won't be that great. So I beat him by almost $500 with the case and all the other extras he had to buy.

Thank you. It was ticking me off hearing reviewers complain about the screen... Have they seen screens on tablets like this? Samsung released a 8" tablet that didn't even have a 1080p screen for $150. With a terrible processor. This has a good processor, 3 gb of ram and a really good display (for the price) and reviewers are saying how mediocre it is. This benchmarks right there with the S6 Lite, which sold for $350 recently. Anyway, rant over. I try to review phones and tablets and I focus on the $600 and under segment for phones and tablets, looking for the best deals. I'm just a normal consumer finding deals for myself and reviewing good bang for the buck stuff, so I appreciate the support!

I'm so glad you reviewed this tablet for what it is, a budget tablet and didn't compare it to other high end tablets. As you said, so many reviewers are so spoiled that when they review a budget a device they rip it apart because it doesn't perform like a more expensive device.

You definitely earned a new subscriber. I have the s21 ultra and getting this tablet was only for basic media consumption and I am definitely satisfied with it. I didn't expect a great screen but it's good enough. Just for movies and Netflix really when I don't feel like being glued to my TV while still binge watching my shows. The quad speakers were a surprise for the price and a big reason I got this tablet. Didn't make sense to me to get the s7 or s7 plus when I'm only using a tablet for basic use even when I'm spoiled by flagship phones. Finally a review that gets it right.

Great and accurate review. As you said it really is a great "budget" tablet. I bought mine in December and it works perfectly well for reading, videos, music and playing games like Terraria or Don´t Starve.

Thank you, matey. I see the headphone jack socket. I'm definitely getting one tomorrow. I don't know why the socket isn't mentioned on any of the specs &, as I said in another post, Samsung told me it didn't have one & I'd have to have an adaptor to plug it into the USB-C slot. Great review! All I needed was a tablet for KZbin, Amazon Prime Videos and social media. Screen must be looked at straight on for best view but....most people look straight on anyway. You must use the Samsung 15w fast charger to get fast charging. On sale at Walmart on January 2nd for $165. This was a great value for the money 💰

It’s really good tablet for average user compared to the last year model, I wish the base model to start with 64gb but probably will get something better like S7 lite with SD750 4Gb ram and 128Gb storage.

I was looking for a new tablet and wanted 4 speakers, 10 inch screen, expandable memory, at least a 7,000 mah battery or better, a 1080p hd screen at the lowest quality, and 64gb of storage. Those were the things on my checklist. I was going to dish out $400 dollars plus for the Galaxy Tab S5E, with the official Samsung case and 256gb memory card. But then I saw the Galaxy Tab A7 64gb. I paid $250.00 dollars for the 64gb tablet and official Samsung case combined, plus a little over $20 dollars for the SD card. I got to tell you, I couldn't be happy with my Buy! I saved over $150 dollars, and the tablet does EVERYTHING I want it to do! I highly recommend tab A7 for anybody who's looking for a good budget tablet! The speakers Rock compared my last tablet!

Can I use a universal touch pen with the A7? What software do you recommend for handwriting notes and what software do you recommend for doing some sketching?

It works with any capacitive pen/stylus. Capacitive styluses don't have any extra features and work similarly to using your hand. There's a ton of options out there for apps, honestly I wish I was more helpful. For basic notes onenote or samsung notes are both good, and you can sync the notes to transfer between devices for free. Sketchbook is a great app for coloring, but someone else may have better thoughts on this!

Yeah, a lot of tech reviewers, they aren't normal people and normal consumers. They get $1,000 tablets for free to review, they use them every day and then compare them to cheap stuff. I actually buy 90% of the stuff I review, and I don't buy it just to review, most of the stuff I review I actually buy because I think it's a good deal, or because I think it's worth using. I'm just a normal Joe Schmo looking for good cheap tech like everyone else. It really does frustrate me that some reviewers don't review from a normal customer's perspective

Just got home from Best Buy with my Tab A7. It does take around 10-15 minutes to get through logging into various accounts and initializing the device for setup. Very cool tablet, definitely more of a 'cool tech to have' device rather than something to REPLACE any other tech (except for another tablet, like my ancient kindle fire hdx). Only concern so far is how LONG it is taking to download the google updates. Did anyone else run into this? I'm connected to a 5 GHz wifi router but a small update (10-20 megabytes, not gigabytes) is taking upwards of 10 minutes a PIECE!! Strange. Could be an initial setup thing, could have to do with my own personal network, not sure. Few recommendations so far: Dark Mode is really cool, access it under the display settings or on the swipe-down quick settings. Auto-Brightness is turned on out of the box -- turn it off. Otherwise it's a really good little tablet for the money. Not sure if I agree with complaints about the screen. I thought it was dim and lifeless out of the box and finally looked at the setting and it was barely even on because of the auto-adjust. Plenty bright, especially for indoors use, and I would be shocked if that brightness isn't enough for outdoor use as well. Feels great in the hands, excellent build quality for the price. Very responsive for a tablet. The screen is big but not massive ~ this makes it comfortable and lighter in weight for extended use, but I didn't pull it out of the box and think, 'this thing is HUGE', no. It's more than enough screen real estate for casual use but even with the ability to open applications like a desktop, I can't see this feature being TOO useful unless it's directly in front of your face. HOWEVER. This tablet is a weird size in that, in theory, you really COULD bring it to a coffee shop with a little stand and a cheap mouse and keyboard that are compatible and really get some stuff done! Totally could. Excited to explore the A7 some more and I will come back and update if anything else weird occurs. So far the updates are the only strange things of note. The device also came at 50% battery so be prepared to charge it while it updates/sets up etc. Thanks!

Thank you so much for this update! People need to hear directly from consumers, that's why I do reviews, as I'm just a normal consumer myself. People need to hear these comments! I'm sure your just experiencing a weird thing, a new device. It may be updating the full tablet in the background or other things slowing down minor updates. Go to your system updates and check it out

@@AndroidDigest Solution (kinda) figured out! When you first instantiate the device it asks for a google and samsung login. If you ALREADY HAVE accounts with google and samsung, of course, log in, HOWEVER, for the device to accept that you have fully logged in, you MUST confirm in whatever email you use for google and samsung that it is in fact, YOU, who signed into the device. After confirming those emails I had to briefly re-setup the device (there's a swipe bar under the notifications drop down that says 'finish setting up your SM-something device' that only disappeared once I had confirmed the email and 'proceeded' to finish setting up the device. As for the download speeds, some of it I think was security related based on my unconfirmed accounts, some of it is the technology under the hood of this tablet (it just isn't going to have the same wifi capabilities as my Galaxy S10+ or a desktop, obviously), as currently the download speed is back to what I would expect. The 5GHz internet is a TAD faster than the processor inside the tablet lol. Everything is working fine now. I will comment updates if anything arises. Definitely worth $150, I got mine for $200, still worth it, somehow $230 seems like a lot, especially for anyone like myself with a fast, modern smart phone. Only complaint so far: why is the pin-unlock box so tiny!? privacy? idk thats the only weird feature so far. I won't rant further but briefly: this thing is perfect for reading on. Plenty bright, great size for zipping through your kindle library. KZbin came up a bit grainy in full screen but I only tried one video so far, I'm sure it's fine :)

@@AndroidDigest The galaxy S10+ charger works as a fast charger for the A7 Tablet. Took about 30-45 minutes ish to go from just below 50% to full charge so even with a fast charger, looking at about 2 hours on the high side for charge time with a (not included) samsung fast charger. I purchased a very different stand than the one in your accessories video, although also from amazon I went with a sturdier model for businesses that uses the edge-clasps so I could use the tablet like a mini-tablet pc for writing or to watch youtube while I do dishes, whatever. Sorry for the extra comments I just wanted to let people know that at least the S10 series phone chargers DO fast charge this tablet. Unsure of how far back in generations the appropriate fast-charger goes. Thank you.

Hi! Me again! anyway i wanted to know if the a7 is compatible with OTG. This is because i wanted to use my 2.4ghz wireless keyboard with this tablet. I just wanted to know if it would work or not, (with a type c to usb a dongle). Thanks

It's really weird because I know it works with wireless keyboards, And I know it doesn't work with monitors, but I'm pretty sure I've seen people connect wireless keyboards through USB. The tab S6 Lite is the same though. No monitor support.. Both only have usb c 2.0.. So you won't be doing any better by getting the tab s6 lite. It would really be a guess for me to say yes, but I do think it will actually work with a keyboard. Just from other things I've seen. But it's not something I've tested. It won't connect to a monitor though. So keep that in mind

It is strange why they don't allow some support for monitors/tvs but I'm fine with viewing though the screen. I guess I will try when I get the tablet! Hi. Have you tested moving app from the device memory to the external storage? ... You can't!!!!! You can move photos, docs, movies, etc, ... but apps, you can't, and it's a 32Gb, but when you open it, 19Gb it's already taken by the OS..., and by not being allowed to move app to the external micro SD card, you are stuck, ... in a few months, you'll get out of memory for apps.

This would work. I mean, taking pictures, sending Microsoft Word files, these are things even the cheapest devices can do. It doesn't take a lot of power to do any of those things. With that being said, the Tab S7 is a powerhouse. It's a beast for productivity. It comes with Samsung Dex, a laptop like interface, so you can open up Android apps in multiple windows. All of that is extremely helpful when trying to do work. But it also costs $550 when it's on sale vs $150 (what I've seen the Tab A7 go for during the holidays). If you are simply going to load up word filed and send them, take care of pics from job sites the Tab A7 will do, but if you are going to be editing long documents, doing a lot more productive work, multitasking, trying to do budget work, etc. That's where the Tab S7 may come in. I reviewed that too so feel free to check it out. Ask any questions you need

@@ratfinder7812 honestly you can do all of that stuff on a phone too.. but yeah the Tab A7 also has a micro sd card slot so you can save a ton of files on that... remember though that with Android tablets, or even laptops, Microsoft office will not run for free. You can READ microsoft office files or send them. But to edit them you will need a microsoft office 365 subscription. That goes for the Tab S7 too.

I can't decide whether to get the A7 or the S6 Lite I want the best image quality of the 2 but if they look identical I might as well just go with the A7 since I'm not doing anything crazy.

The Tab A7 and S6 Lite look pretty identical. Only differences: 1 GB more RAM on the S6 Lite, about an extra 90 nits of brightness on the S6 Lite, and it comes with an s-pen. I personally don't do too much with it so the RAM didn't mean much to me. I don't use the s-pen. And the A7 does get bright enough for me anyway. So I'm going with the A7. But if the price is within $100 and you would use the s pen, or if you plan to use several apps at the same time, that may tip you to the S6 Lite. Hopefully this helps

And I don't see myself using more than 1 or 2 apps at once. That's why I'm more interested in the image quality of the screen and I feel like the s6 lite is more expensive because of that s-pen and 1 more GB of ram.

From my experience the image quality is the same. I think the only benefit for you would be the brightness being just a little brighter on the Tab S6 Lite. But again the Tab A7 gets more then bright enough in my opinion. From everything your saying I think the A7 is the way to go
