Nice common-sense review. Those worried about top-end specs won't want this tablet. Although I am "tech-savvy", my wife and I primarily use android tablets for mild gaming, watching you tube videos, news, on-line shopping and general web browsing. The display, overall responsiveness, and features make the A8 well-suited for these kinds of uses without paying an arm and a leg for a top-end tablet.

Shane, this was an EXCELLENT review. I own the A7, which is this one's earlier counterpart. I love my A7. I watch videos on it nearly daily. The only issue I've had with it is random crashes, which is really rare, but it can happen. Otherwise, nothing but positives here. Enjoy your evening!!

Nice review, I think I will buy the 126GB version. I love that it still has a SD card and headphone jack which a lot don't anymore. I also love the price. When I am spending $1200 to $1500 on new phone every 2 years I don't need to spend a fortune just to scroll the net at night or watch a little TV at night when I am away from home.

Hi Shane, Have you or anyone on here found that the colour resolution on this tablet lacking - which means that the colours are not vibrant at all - rather washed out. There are several reviews pointing this out as a disappointing aspect of the A8> 1) It’s just a shame that Netflix content doesn’t look very good, with flat colours and no HDR support. 2) in going with a TFT LCD panel, it’s not particularly vibrant or colour-accurate. I was very disappointed when I set mine up yesterday after buying it and even moreso comparing it to my older Samsung, the Galaxy Tab S2 who's colours are bright and true. So I am taking it back tomorrow

I'm thinking of buying new inexpensive but reliable tablet for tasks as watching Netflix, HBO, KZbin, reading e-books on Scribd, listening on music on Spotify. But, also I'm gonna use it for some internet, reading emails, light work stuff (occasional writing and reading docs, pdf, checking some pps...). Although I'm gonna need it rarely for this, is this tablet good enough for atleast decent Skype, Zoom or some similar video meetings? What's the quality of display, can I install and, for instance simultaneously listen on Spotify and scroll throughout internet without a hassle? Good to know I made a good decision, just bought the 128gb version on sale for $230, and I bought it mainly to use as a media device while traveling, and if what I've researched is correct, a GPS while traveling off the beaten path in my vehicle, as from what I understand, even though it is not a cellular tablet, the processor chipset it uses has a built in GPS module. Save myself some storage on my phone with the downloaded maps, and be able to use the full functionality of my offroad GPS apps while not having to use android auto.

I used to use a map setup like that on an old tablet I had. The larger screen was wonderful. Finding a place to put it in my car where it would ride easily, was the biggest problem.

I bought this tablet as I had a note 2014 tablet! The battery was pretty dead and 16gb of space limited everything. Because it was so old, there were alot of apps that the tablet could no longer support. In Australia things are alot more expensive, but I got this got for $295 which is good as it retails for about $380 at the moment. For me, this tablet was to watch you tube and to travel with on airplanes, and light Web browsing. I honestly would have loved to get the s8 but I couldn't justify that much $$$$ . I'm pretty happy with this tablet, does exactly what I need, the battery is great, really good speakers, and nice screen. I think the colours are a bit cooler than my s22+, and I use a fast charger to charge. I bought the 64gb version as well as its not like I'm going to be taking pictures with it.

@fapmashina1 It's been a great tablet. I've had it for over a year now. Has been a stellar performer. The only thing I didn't like was the initial start up. Google was everywhere. I mean you had to "jump through hoops" so to speak to get things going the way google wanted It. There probably is a way to circumvent that. Tablet multi-tasks well. I don't use Spotify mostly KZbin and internet radio U.S. and Europe via apps. Have experienced some way connectivity problems(ie., wifi signal dropping) but have remedied the problem by resetting the wifi modem and reconnecting from the tablet. Video is decent but I'm sure more expensive tablets are much better. Installing apps is pretty effortless. I've had no problems. For an inexpensive tablet it is fantastic.

I've had a samsung galaxy tab a 10.1 for about 2-3 years and it's slowing down, I need an upgrade. I really wanted the s7 but $700-$800 is not in my budget. I mainly read fanfics, watch KZbin,Netflix,so on, write, and can't forget read aloud....I might just end up with this tablet

I was in the market for a tablet a couple weeks ago and wanted 128 gig A8. They were a month out. So I bought the Lenovo M10 plus with 128 gigs. I'm not a tech guy at all, but I think the Lenovo is better. Just a little learning curve for me over the 2016 Samsung tablet that started to have issues.

I just returned yesterday the Lenovo m10, the second one, I had the first and second edition. And returned both. And why? Because it doesn't work for videoconference. When you are in a videoconference, after a while(random, it can be second or minutes) it says that it lost the microphone to another app and it is not true. I wrote in Lenovo forks but they don't do anything, other people wrote too. The Lenovo tablet is perfect for everything else, I love how pure Android it is, but if you need it for videoconference you are out of luck

Thanks for this video in reassuring my future tablet purchase. I have had an old iPad Air 2 for years now and it’s really starting to show its age, the storage is awful, a full charge lasts a couple hours at best and it’s just a hassle to keep up with it. Have been using it for 6 months, usually watch video using browser. I have to say it's not a particularly good experience. It lags all the time, I basically have to reboot it every single day. Only buy it if you are planning on using it for light tasks! I recently sold and replaced it with the Tab S8.

Bought this model a few months ago. Performs well, but a bit disappointed in the battery life. Tested the battery versus my 2018 Amazon Fire Tablet and my Fire Tablet battery after 4 years out paces the A8 a fair bit. Now I realize how strong the Fire Tablet battery is.

Not too sure I like the location of the 3.5 jack, would interfere holding it, would've been better if placed toward the middle. Another option is the iPlay40H with a IPS screen and 8GB of RAM same T618 CPU. No 3.5 jack and the updates might not be there.

Bought it last night. It is good. Mine is 4/64 which is enough for me as per my requirements. I have two phone out of that one I want to sell. I have a laptop too so wanna sell that too as I already have a good gaming PC. So I thought lets sell this phone and laptop and buy this tab. I can watch movies and series on it while watching outside. No need to sit in my room all the time for movies and laptop is a bit uncomfortable for me to hold longer on my lap. So I bought this. I don't have a tv. I have PC and 32" screen which I used for all my need. Work and entertainment both. In this summer time I don't like to sit inside the room. So I wanted something to watch movies and other things while sitting outside but no heavy device. So this was good option for me at this price.
