I watch an s-ton of tech reviews and I think this was a fantastic run-down of Samsung's new smart watches. Why on earth all the thumbs down? I'm guessing it's because some don't like things like the death of the rotating bezel, but that's not this person or CNET's fault, damn.

This watch was advertised to be used in sand dunes. You think your silly bezel on the watch 6 classic will survive 10 minutes in sand particles? No shot. They made the right move.

Because when you are using your finger to move around the edge of the screen you are essentially covering the screen and you cannot see as well so with the bezel you will be able to see the screen clearly

I thought the whole point of them keeping the circular shape within the square frame was because of the rotating bezel. Guess I was wrong. Anyway, I'm coming from the watch 5 pro, so I'm good without it.

@AllDayErrDay. I think they wanted to make a fully square watch. Got backlash and then decided to add the circle inside last minute. The ultra is probably replacing the " pro " version, so next year they'll most likely release a Classic version. One year for square watch type lovers, the next for circle

This Is a shame that they left the round screen on square like body... as the only explanation for such move would be to keep the rotating bezel working... and... they did not. The main reason they made it square is to include a bigger battery, and since they don't want to make any software changes to handle square display, they decided to put a round display on top of the square base body.

Man, I was really looking forward to the Ultra as a potential replacement for my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. It finally has dual-band GPS, which is the main thing that I'm missing on my 5 pro (which has awful gps accuracy), but I'm not a big fan of the design. It looks so bulky even compared to my 5 Pro, which is already a big watch. Hopefully it looks better in person.

As we go forward, the functions of the digital watch are more and more like the phone. With round watch we end up scrolling more for info. Ist time for Samsung to go back to it's initial designs of square/rectangular watch? I was hoping this new watch would be the one but only to find out users we will be stuck with square watch with round display 😢 There is a good reason why our phones do not have circular display and going back also our books were never round paged.

Really can't believe the amount of people that are complaining about the rotating bezel, but somehow can't understand the physical limitations of one. Did you see the ad? A rotating bezel would last about 15 minutes in the sand dunes. Rotating bezels are for office watches, not adventure watches.

The rotating bezel on my samsung gear s3 saved my watch display when falling directly on its display since it offers both functionality and durability in terms of drop protection since I don't have a screen protector on my gear s3 smart watch. I dropped my gear s3 multiple times directly on its display while it was in the charging cradle since it kept on getting knocked over multiple times from a table on a hard surface on the floor. The watch would even come off the charging cradle and bounce off the ground multiple times and land in random positions. The only part of the watch that has a crack is inside the watch next to the watch sensors. My samsung watch sensors still work perfectly fine since I still wear the watch with cracks on them underneath the metal watch band. I replace the stock watch band with metal watch band. I changed the links myself since the metal watch band came with tools to remove the extra watch band links. Removing the metal band watch band links was easy to do but it only took awhile because I don't know how many links I needed to remove to fit my samsung watch on my wrist since it was the only time it was time consuming until I figured how many watch band links that I needed to remove. The only thing that I did not like is that the metal watch band clasp can come off easily and become loose but that's the fault of the watch band itself because the clasp was too easy to push without any effort to loosen the watch and open the watch band. The watch band was built really well besides the annoying quirk of the watch band. I had other metal watch bands and they would easily break and the links would off easily on regular watches before I started using any smartwatches. For example, the metal watch band would automatically open if it came into contact with something by accident. For instance, I accidentally smacked the metal watch band with my other hand or if it grazed against a door. The watch band clasp would be loose and undone and it would happen multiple times. I have been known to drop stuff like linus tech tips lol.

I love the new design ,ive traded my 6 classic in for it . Its a rugged watch ,so no surprise that they haven't invaded a rotating bezel , as its a moving part, and it would compromise that . I bareley used the bezel on the 6 classic anyway , its easier to swipe

Great dude! I'm about to trade in my watch 6. Can't really understand why only 1 out of 30 people can comprehend why they axed the rotating bezel for a watch advertised to be used in sand dunes. Ball bearings and any grit do not mix. Everyone is acting like it's such a party foul. Like go find another adventure watch with a rotating bezel. You won't, because manufacturers aren't stupid.

(for $650) I'll look forward to Samsung bringing it back with the Ultra 8 after they realize again how popular it is. Maybe by then I can get the nomenclature figured out. I guess the 2025 model with be the Galaxy watch ultra classic? In the meantime with a trade in offer of $250 for the watch 5 I never wear because of terrible battery life and another $50 off for ordering direct from Samsung I just preordered one.

I just ordered mine - and subsequently found out that the new Watch 7 series does NOT support reverse charging from the phone (S24 Ultra) and they highly recommend only to use the original charging puck and not the older pucks from like Watch 6 Classic (which I'm trading in) - due to heating issues - Not sure if this is really an upgrade ?!? 🤔 but I got an amazing deal which was hard to pass up . . . we'll see when I get it in my hands 🤲
