Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 - Wait for the Ultra? | Leaks & Rumours | TSW195

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is officially launching in Summer 2024, possibly with an Ultra and FE option - so here's the latest leaks, rumours and other news on this mighty foldable. Can the Samsung Z Fold 6 compete vs the OnePlus Open, Honor Magic V2 and the other best bendy phones? The Z Fold 6 so far seems to be only a minor evolution over the Galaxy Fold 5 from last year. Samsung is apparently sticking with the same camera tech, battery size and features for this fresh folding phone, depending on which leaks you believe. If that's the case, then the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will likely struggle against the OnePlus Open etc.
However, rumours also say that the Samsung Z Fold 6 Ultra will be launched this year. This (even) more expensive model will boast the same or similar camera hardware to the S24 Ultra, as well as a built-in S Pen. If so, here's hoping it's not priced too crazily.
Alternatively, for those with smaller budgets, a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE might be a better option. Apparently this will cut some of the more premium stuff while still delivering an enjoyable foldable experience.

Got bored of Samsung releasing the same foldable for 5 years straight with only minor improvements, so switched to the Honor Magic V2. Best decision I ever made, it's what a foldable form factor should be, not the skinny brick Samsung keep throwing up every August.

I remember one review for the original Z Fold. The guy said something like "isn't good, its expensive, but its cool to have glimpse from the future in your hands". I guess the Z Fold 6 would be the same case and im afraid that would be the business model of Samsung for the decades to come.

Im not sure what the point is of 7 years of software updates. I have an s22+ which gets 4 years of updates but there is already functionality on the s24+ which I'm not going to get. How much are s24+ users going to be missing by the launch of the s31+?

I have to admit I'm done with flexible blowers. I bought an oppo find N2 flip last June and I woke up one morning to turn my alarm off a couple of months ago and despite the phone sitting on my bedside cabinet all night it had a crack down the middle and is unresponsive. I've had the z4 flip for almost two years. I've had the screen protector replaced back end of last year, and a screen replaced recently (both covered in my warranty). I enjoy using the flip but I purchased it with the knowledge, I would likely run it to a screen issue at some stage. I should add I have a back up phone.

I found myself only ever using the front panel because opening it every time got tedious and unwieldy which sucks since I could have gotten a regular brick phone and indulged in a tablet for the same price.

I had the fold 4 for a year which was pristine but I traded it in for the fold 5 and they are durable as long as you look after it. I've dropped mine a few times and it's still in good shape. Also buy a good case and screen protector. If I were you I'd wait for the fold 6 if you can.

I suggest it depends on what you really use your phone for or your lifestyle. I've had the Z Fold 4 shortly after launch, and based on what I do for work, I read lots of emails, reports, graphs and spreadsheets. So, that device works great for me as I don't need to open my Galaxy Book every time to get certain things done. And it has proven to be quite durable so far, replaced the screen protector twice which isn't expensive to do.

Anyways, forgetting that, was it the Sony Xperia Z2 that was the first waterproof/IP rated mobile phone? I know I had the compact version....what a blower. Decided to take it with me whilst snorkelling in the Red Sea off Sharm. Bottled it though and bought a waterproof case. Not sure how salt water would have affected it TBH!
