Samsung Gear 360 (2017) - Setup & Review

So Samsung recently dropped their new version of the Gear 360 (2017) camera. With a new look and smaller form factor, this device is easily something you can carry with you. In this video, I am setting up the Gear 360 and giving you guys my review on what it can do and how it performs. 360 videos are definetly still new and not many people use so Samsung is aiming to put this 360 camera into more consumer's hands. With a price tag just above $200, if you are in the marker for a new and cool gadget, then this might be it.

+J.Kogen TV on the specification page, it states Recording time: Up to 130 mins (2560 x 1280 / 30fps), so I would assume maybe up to 100 minutes for 60fps.

Should I alway use the best setting 4k for recording video and pictures? And then find some pc apps to convert 4k video to the smaller size and somehow to keep the same quality?

+Vinh Kha I personally had a better experience with the resolution mentioned in the video. However since you will be editing the video I would go with the highest resolution and scale down as needed so you don't lose frame rate and resolution. Hope that helps.

MexTechGuy This is a 360 video file, is there require specific editted software to convert a smaller size and keep the same quality? Do you have any suggestion which software I should use and what's setting I should be converted?

+Vinh Kha if you get the Samsung gear 360, it comes with an editing software. You will need to contact Samsung to get the activation key but it works well! Hope that helps.

+Vinh Kha well the higher the fps, the more smooth the video will be. The resolution mentioned in the video was the best resolution I found to work best with the fps. I prefer 60fps if at all possible. The lower the the fps, the less smooth video will be but probably the resolution will be alot better.

Of course you can! I did the same for my son's soccer game and it works fine. Really cool when you play it back. Just make sure you have enough memory on the micro SD card.

That means you had the recording mode in hyperlapse mode. You need to change it to just recording and that should do the trick. Then just press record. You can test it out prior to the game that way you know it is working like you want it.

How do you add the 360 logo to the bottom of the video/photos you are taking?

With the earlier version of the Samsung GEAR 360, there used to be the option where you could place a 360 logo at the bottom of your videos. This was helpful in hiding or covering up the tripod or even your hand holding the camera.

+Roy Martinez well this one does it automatically. It doesn't use a logo though. I didn't do any editing to the 360 videos so how you seem is how they come out. You could see my fingers holding the camera every now and then but not that much to get in the way. Hope that helps!

Roy Martinez been looking into this and after installing all the old versions of the gear 360 app it won't do it... it seems that option only came on the old 360 cam or when you use a newer phone... s8 and above and note 8

Mine won't stream to KZbin even though I am using a Galaxy S8+. It keeps asking me to sign in and KZbin keeps saying I already enabled the feature.

+Jon Gordon that is odd. Have you made sure that the software is up to date? I just did a live stream earlier today and used the KZbin link so not sure why yours won't. Last resort would be to factory reset

+Studio-Retes Videos! Either go into the settings and perform a reset from the app once the camera is paired or do it directly on the camera by powering it on, then going settings and selecting factory data reset. Hope this helps!

If you change the mode on the 360 to single shot, it'll do the wide angel shots which essentially is panoramic.
