What I love about this review is how you don't just identify the good and bad but literally talk about using it. Like you said, it's not perfect but very fun to use. For me, if I was into 360 videoing then that's good enough for me.

Amazing little thing. Just received a Gear 360 Camera yesterday and I took it with me to the shore on-the-fly while I went fishing. This camera has a lot of potential; now I want to take it into the forest when I'm trout fishing and as the leaves turning here in the Northeast.

I received this camera as my gift for ordering the Note8 in 2017. I use it when I'm surf fishing in the spring and fall with my brothers. After nearly three years it's still a blast to use. I have it plugged into a Samsung charging slab and the Gear 360 records the full day's activities. Also, this camera works well as a dashcam.

I have the LG 360 camera. It's audio is really great. It has surround sound recording. Plus it can do 16 MP stills, and 2k video. You can pick one up for around $170, and it works with all Androids, and iPhones.

Those spherical panoramas looks amazing. Do you think LG will put out an updated version of their 360 Cam to try to match Samsung's? Compared to the Gear 360, their camera last year was worse on the video side and technically better on the audio side (5.1 surround vs stereo), but the volume was much lower.

How well does it handle heat? The 2016 one sucks, unless it has cool air actively flowing over it. Mine is used as a dash cam, and works great for that. Far better than my Hero 1, but the Hero beats it hands down in terms of heat resistance. If I don't have my AC set to the defrost vents, it's worthless in Arizona.

You can pick the first generation Gear 360 up on eBay, for a dirt cheap price. Probably due to the last buy a s7 get a 360 for free options over the last month's. I got mine unopened and unused for just 100 bucks, which i consider an acceptable price.

Cool video!You are wright about the picture quality and I also believe that the earlier model is better in resolutio(like in sam phones;they are like going backwards in resolution in newest models!) and at all!Having said that the only things that the newest model got better is a smaller design and the ability to do a 360 live stream!Guess they understood the quality by themselves since the entry pre order price is as low as 250€ compared to the previous model which was double!

Well dont get me wrong,I'm a samsung fan and got a S7 edge(had the S6) and just bought (yesterday) a 360 older version cam for 151€ to try it(they went all on sale cause of the new model).In my opinion is that my S6 was doing faaar better pictures than the S7edge!If not faaar better lets say better and lets be bald and say equal!How come they were also bald and transfered that camera to the S8?Thats the great dissapointment for me.I mean others are releasing phones with more than 20M pix cameras and this is samsung,they should have a cam matching those competitors but instead they are going backwards!

I preordered a Note 8 and went with the 360 camera instead of the 128gb microSD card and wireless charger bundle (I already have a wireless charger, and I don't need 128gb of storage since I have a 256gb microSD card in a phone). Looks like I made the right choice. (Now to find out how to mount this to my car's roof so I can play as a Google Streetview car).

Got one yesterday and I am pretty pleased with it even though I was not happy about the fact that I had to get a Samsung S6 just to be able to fool around with it as my Huawei H7 is not compatible. Samsung said that maybe in future this will be fixed but they can't tell for sure because it is up to Huawei and not to Samsung to make those products compatible with each other.

Sure! Wrist strap is on one side, and is tied to the stabilizer ring. So you can use either or both, but the ring and string are always joined together.

Hey Michael, great video as always! My view on this camera... I just got my New Gear 360 (2017) a few days ago, and I'm returning it asap! IMO it's horrible compared to the old (2016) one. The photo quality is just plainly bad, really bad. All of the photos come out soft. There are no points in the picture that are sharp. I've tested it in perfect lighting condition, and it's still not sharp. The video suffers from the same soft mess. The stitching of the photos in absolutely horrid. The 2016 managed it in a few pixels, yeah sometimes it was a little off, but it was ok. The 2017 model widens the stitching over a large area and blurs everything. It's very noticeable and looks really bad. Also the quality of the lenses on the 2017 seem worse than the 2016. Way more distortion and softness on the edges. This might be why the the stitching looks so bad too. For some reason my model doesn't have live streaming! It's on the box, but the neither the camera, nor the app has the feature. I assume this'll be fixed via software update, but it's slap in the face of the consumer, who buys it thinking they'll be able to live stream right out of the box. I'm really disappointed with the camera, I expected to be better, or just as good, as the 2016 model, but it is noticeably worse. Of course it's way cheaper, but if you are looking for quality, get the 2016 model. The form of it is nice if you have tiny hands, otherwise just by holding it naturally, you'll be touching the lens and smudging it. The 2016 model's handle is way more comfortable. Also it turns into a fairly stable tripod. The 2017 has a rubber ring to do this, but it's a joke. I'm always afraid when setting down the camera, that it'll fall over. There are some good things about the 2017 one. It's faster than the old one, and the size makes it more portable. The video resolution is better on paper, but higher resolution won't do you any good if the image is bad from the start, and it is bad. All in all DON'T GET THE 2017 GEAR 360! Get the 2016 model it's way better, and it'll probably come down in price eventually.

To live stream you simply open whatever app you use to live stream... Then you pick the camera... Just like you would if you were using the phone camera or any other. You don't open the camera app and make it choose a streaming app. That's back-asswards

I use the old version to shot 360 photos for google street view .. if you hold the Bluetooth button for 2 seconds you will see 3 options *1* is to connect to the apps in phone. *2* to connect to a remote control. *3* is google street view. it's good but not perfect don't expect to much from it *the old version* thank you.
