LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS IF YOU NEED ANYTHING ELSE.
This video will show you how to replace the Glass on your broken Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and your Samsung Galaxy Note 3. (It is the exact same process for both phones) Remember that this will only fix your phone if your phone still functions, which means you cans still see the screen, and it recognizes your touch. If the glass is the only thing broken on your phone it is a pretty easy swap.
You can put any color glass on your phone, it doesn't have to be the same color that your broke.
I took my phone apart first before I removed the glass, but you really don't need to. The glass is completely removable while the phone is all put together.

I use isopropyl alcohol and an old t shirt to dissolve the glue after rolling off the bulk of it with my thumb. you have to let it set and dry a bit before installing the new glass though. otherwise a wet spot can visually form under the glass even though it is dry. Maybe dry it with the heat gun. I love the playing card method, it works the best for me. I use a heat gun and an inexpensive laser thermometer I bought on Ebay. 200 degrees F just like you said. You have the best how to smartphone repair videos on youtube. After watching them, I had success replacing glass after failing my first two or three attempts. since then, Ive fixed the glass on about 10 to 15 Samsung smartphones!

Gr8t vid bro! 👍👍ps. Isopropyl alcohol is a gentle, but powerful remover. A hidden gem that most of us already have in our cupboard. I use it to remove all my glue messes! It's fast, but more importantly safe for removing anything sticky on an electronic device.

I paid 5.99 for a screen and toolkit off eBay,watched you video, followed your instructions to the t and have now successfully completed what was a $150 job for $12 and a little lost sleep. The screen works flawless and the only mishap is I think my home button is possible placed upside down and even that's a plus as I didn't really care for the clicking sound of the button being pressed. Being experienced at using a heat gun to remove labels(adhesive) was a huge help. Thanks Jerry I have no choice but to subscribe.

Followed your instructions, took it SUPER SLOWLY and my phone screen is fixed! Hopefully it has extended the life of the phone while I hunt for a replacement. Phone shop said it was unrepairable and a write-off. Windex and a microfibre cloth worked like a charm to get the glue off, not that there was much - slow and steady with my Remington 1800 watt hairdryer did the trick. THANKYOU THANKYOU!

So I have the note 3. I see you don't use a liquid adhesive to attach the screen directly to the digitizer, you use just stop adhesive along the rim, how well did that work? Bubbles on the lcd when the actually glass screen makes contact, sensitivity, dust anything that could happen without the internal glue. Let me know thanks man!

Thank you Jerry, With your expertise I was able to successfully remove the glass today. It's not easy but very possible. I used a paint stripper from 3 inches away from glass, and used a laser thermo meter to keep it under 90C, and 2 laminated paper playing cards. In total took me about 1hour. I think removing everything before you start gives you the best chance, as it's harder insert anything in to the glass with the bezel surrounding protruding high up.

Hey Jerry, I had been informed to use a soft cotton cloth like a new baby's diaper and lens cleaner, not Windex. Windex is too harsh of furmula for the LCD, camera lens, plastic prescription glasses or a computer display. All these are made from composite plastics, except the LCD surface. I'm not certain what the material of the top layer of the display, but scratching is what I want to avoid. The learning expense of the top glass repair has a high cost, because I have destroyed 3 phones dosplays already. I have an attitude this thing is not going tp beat me and I will pull this off. Also it is wise to use a digital remote temperature guage and the glass needs to be 85°c in order to have the best possible separation. This means it is too hot to hold and gloves must be worn. Good luck as I really enjoyed your video. The one thing you said which hit me square in the eyes is when you said the comment about separating the glass from the LCD is extremely difficult to do without damage. That's almost an under statement. There are a lot of phones for sale with people who have attempted this. Best Regards, John

Thanks for the video you've definitely helped me, this is the third time I have attempted to do a glass only replacement, first time I havn't knicked the lcd with the razer 😂 As far as getting the glue off I am currently using a rag made from an old t shirt wrapped over my finger and just gently rubbing the glue away, I originally dipped the rag in a bit of methylated spirits but it seems to be working better dry to get the the bulk of the glue off, I'll try again with the metho to get the final smudges off (should work much the same as windex I would imagine)

The best video yet that I've seen as far as tutorials. You are incredibly well spoken and concise, took me about 5 videos of listening to people stumble over their words and walking away with half an idea. Also, it's good that you disassemble and remove digitizer/screen combo for 2 reasons: 1) To make the edges more accessible, and 2) to avoid heating the motherboard, battery, et al. Is a Note 4 the same? I found no tutorials on them. Where do I get molybdenum wire? Any gage in specific? What is a good temperate, 180 degrees or so? One guy used a hotplate at 55C, so 130.
@JerryRigEverything
@JerryRigEverything 9 жыл бұрын
Ed Stearns My hotplate is at 95c. So its pretty hot. I also use playing cards instead of wire. I personally find that it is easier. I DID Try a glass only repair on a note 4.... and broke it. The LCD is incredibly thin. So... goodluck ;-) (I have a video showing the Note 4 tear down... just not the 'glass only repair')

great video, thanks, did as instructed (no complications, removing was easy, but a bit tricky, as the top glass screen kept cracking all the time, more and more and it gave ma a paranoya, because, the glue came off in streaks, and i got spooked, that i broke the digitazer, and was relieved, when i removed it completely and found that it is all fine) but contracted a mild problem after applying the screen in the end.. . the screen feels pretty loose, and i broke the glass again, when i pressed on it in the area of the buttons, for it to stick better... as there is sort of a dent around the buttons... that glass is wayy too fragile, i had no idea how much exactly ... ordered the UV glue and a few new screens, just in case for the future... i think the glue is essential, sticky tape is kinda fleamarket type of way to do this it i think... in any case, You've been a great help and i learned a lot, i have no knowledge of electronics, but this was a really nice tutorial

I do repairs too. I agree that the success rate of glass/ lcd separation is very low with any type of phone that uses loca or that is amoled. I always tell the customer about the risk of what happens if the glue cools too quickly or if a tiny "island" of glass is caught by the wire or blade. There is always risk in damaging the LCD. I prefer not to do a separation if the customer agrees. If the LCD is damaged then they are out the cost of the glass and a new LCD. Cleaning is another issue as you mentioned. I do NOT recommend using ANY chemicals as I have seen screens get stained even using alcohol. The only chemical I will use on a screen is the LCD cleaner made by Zeiss that can be purchased at Walmart which also has a very nice cleaning cloth. Just my two cents. Thanks for the video.

Goo Gone works excellent to remove the residue off the LCD screen (TESTED). Use alcohol afterwards to remove leftover film.

I used a little baking soda on my fingertip, and scrubbed the adhesive off that way. A final pass with a cloth and isopropyl alcohol removed any leftover baking soda and fingerprints.

Nice, I'm glad that worked for ya. Ive mostly just used a plastic spudger to scrape the big glops off and than the isopropyl alcohol to get rid of the rest.

and what about a cheese slicer it has replaceable wire and a roller to help control where the string is get guitar strings all the way down to #6 (.0065 i think it is) to replace the string. mines plenty wide enough bout 4 inch.

Great videos. Love the detailed and thorough work you do. Kudos. I bought my wife a used note 3. Light was bad when I bought and inspected it. I didnt notice that the screen had minor scratches (lots) and a deeper one. What are your thoughts of getting rid of these scratches. Anything else to try before replacing the glass? Tooth past is a myth.
@JerryRigEverything
@JerryRigEverything 10 жыл бұрын
emailausdrucker Sometimes putting on a thick screen protector. (Zagg) will hide the smaller scratches. You can try that. I wouldnt ever try replacing the glass just to get rid of scratches though. The risk is *way* too high.

The best way to get the adhesive off the digitizer is to not get it on it to begin with. Just have to be more careful and not push anything in past the adhesive.

Ok, thank you for posting this and allowing others to ask questions. I have replaced three samsung galaxy tab 3 screens without any problems. But, this time I had to take the back off, and on the back side there is another gold pronged connector about half way down that came loose. It is similar to the top one that comes with the replacement screen, but I have no idea how to get this reconnected. any help?

In this video/glass replacement you didn't use the glue. Is it suggested to use it? Also, i ordered the glass from the source you suggest and it comes with the double sided tape. Which means the massive roll of tape from Amazon was unnecessarily ordered. Irregardless your tutorials are fantastic and appreciated.

MrMyTwoCents It honestly depends on your personal preference if you want to use glue or not. It is a much more permanent replacement when you use glue... BUT it is much easier to screw up your entire phone when you use glue as well. So its really up to each person if they want to use it or not.

Thank you very much... i will be attempting this method. I have never used a case on my note 3 for 3 years but did have a zagg screen protector. I got a replacement from them and took the old one off... Couldnt get the new one on for some reason so i decided Ill just go without anything. Big mistake. 2 days later dropped flat on its face and shattered horribly bad. HAH. Murphy... why Murphy... Why!!!! My note has been dropped in 3 years on every corner possible and even face palmed about 4 times... if this method works ill go back to no case as I bought 3 of these screens! hah.. thanks again!

I did a repair for the home button for a client. The screen was fine before hand, but after I replaced the button & screen the screen is distorted. Works fine & button is fine, but the screen looks like a cable is loose, even though I was careful. Is it done?

First, very nice video. I replaced the glass according to your instructions.... and I nicked that tape in the top left corner, rendering part of my touch screen untouchable. Ideas on where I may order a new one/how to replace it? Thanks.

***** At that point you just need to order the LCD/ Glass combination. Its kinda expensive, but if the touch screen has failed its kinda your only option.

Can you do a tutorial with UV loca glue? My hardest part actually is applying the UV glue. It's not air bubbles but instead the glue seeping onto the motherboard of the phone and through the home button.

I know that when my husbands phone had the screen replaced, there was what looked like a watermark on the front of the screen. How do you get it to not have the air between the digitizer and the new glass?

Works great.. little advice.. take your time taking out the glass... WD40 works great.. for glue..but try to use your finger first try to get all that glues 1st... start on the home button when u put the screen.need it to stick really good cause that's where you type..after you put the screen spray some windex and put a little pressure start wiping from the middle up and down.. so u won't get no dead spot.. this method works for me.. tnx for the video...
