The G7 sucks. The screen would flicker and after getting RMA, Black screens would randomly happen. If you set the monitor to 240hz, the latency is atrocious for esports. I had to connect an HDMI instead, but now I have a ripple or a wave that starts from the top of the screen and ends at the bottom. The tearing is random and seems to get better with a better HDMI. I wouldn't go for the headache, my two cents.

I have this monitor now for a month or so maybe slightly longer, it's paired with a 6900xt which is undervolted and oced to reach 6950XT speeds and matches the 3090TI or beats it depending on the title, I have Resizable BAR enabled with a 5800x3d and 3733MHz CL14 custom tuned memory in dual rank configuration. All in all a very fast PC. While it's true that newer titles on maximum settings will not run 240Hz, people forget that you don't need to run on absolutely maxed out settings at 4K, you can easily run high settings or even a mix of medium / high settings and it still looks great. Coupled with technologies like FSR and DLSS you can even get more "free" performance without too much sacrifice. I personally enjoy playing lots of indie titles and even older titles where I can easily reach 240 FPS locked. It's an awesome feeling when running these kind of framerates at 4K. 32 Inch brings that much more immersion compared to 27 Inch and the increase in resolution means less jagged edges and farther viewable distance. And the refresh rate means smoother picture and less motion blur when moving the camera around. This all comes with a price tag, but it's worth it in my opinion.
@G-O-A-M
@G-O-A-M Жыл бұрын
yes well said. But what do you mean with "increase in resolution means less jagged edges"? You meaing the shimmering edges in games that are sometimes/often visible? I have a problem with these personally on my 27inch 1440p screen.
@Marthos01
@Marthos01 Жыл бұрын
@@G-O-A-M It's exactly like aliasing, the resolution of 3840x2160 means less aliasing. 1440P is nice but it still has lots of aliasing and it doesn't show the detail in long range distances like 4K does. You get 4x MSAA by default pretty much running at 4K is what I'm getting at. You don't need to use MSAA or any anti aliasing at higher resolutions as much.
@geno7507

In a world where you can OC a 6900xt that's already at a 3080 level and it is now faster than a 3090ti. Oh wait, you're one of those fan bots that refuses to see that the 6950xt is as good as a 3080ti. You don't know what a performance average is, you base it on 4 games. Yikes "But it bets a 3090ti in this AMD funded game!" What I'm wondering is why did you say you OC'ed it and now it's at 6950xt speeds and then claim it matches a 3090ti or beats it after that????? Which is it?? It can't be both LMAO. I'm going to get the 6950xt now, based on your story I should be able to OC it to 4090 speeds.

OK so 1500.00 for monitor and like 4k for a pc that can run 4k at over 120 fps plus hardware = like 6k to play games on pc now! I've been a pc gamer for over 30 years but at 600.00 for an xbox and less than 1000.00 for decent 4k tv , makes pc gaming a niche now. Life has gotten ridiculously expensive and right now I'd rather eat and pay my mortgage then pay over 6k to play the two maybe three games I play like once a week. Rip pc gaming

Makes perfect sense if you can afford it. Even when you don't get 240hz on games, you will get it everywhere else. Using your PC on a day to day basis benefits from the 240hz panel. The only downsides I see to this monitor is that it does not come with DisplayPort 2.0, and that it is not OLED. I am not entirely sure why it can't be driven at 240hz on their HDMI 2.1 ports because those have a lot more bandwidth than DisplayPort 1.4 and I thought they could also use DSC. But every other complaint I see is mostly price related.

I was actually pretty sad I returned it since there was nothing wrong with it and I got it on sale for $1200 instead of the normal &1400. It's on sale for $900 now and I'm debating getting it again since I've been happy with the odyssey G7. Mini led can show pure black just like an oled because they can turn off the backlight zones, what they can't do as well is have small bright highlights next to pure black areas without getting some light blooming. in a lot of scenarios a mini led image in hdr can look identical to oled its just in those darker scenes with small bright highlights that mini led suffers.

I had this monitor for a few days and returned it. The matte coating is awful and kills the deep blacks. The curve is also too aggressive. The combination of the two really kills the contrast- especially in the corners of the FOV. Also, the local dimming is noticeable with a dark background on the windows menu. That last point I can let slide but the first two are deal breakers. If this screen were semi gloss or gloss and had less/no curve, I'd keep it.

@GrayEyesWorld
@GrayEyesWorld Жыл бұрын
@@ichbinari No worries. I very much like this monitor, even though it has a few intrinsic flaws. The biggest one is scanlines at 240hz. It's not noticeable in most games unless you're looking at a uniform color or very gentle gradient. But when looking at static images like icons, especially blue or yellow colors it's very noticeable. So when not gaming I have to lower the refresh rate to 120hz which completely gets rid of the scanlines. However the refresh rate pairs excellently with a 4090. The card is so powerful that just about every game runs over 120hz, so the 240hz rate really is useful. The HDR is also great on it, second only to an OLED. It just makes me wish for a 4k 240hz OLED even more. I'd say def worth the $1k I got it at, but not really worth the $1.5k it's normally sold for.

I have this monitor after waiting for 10 years to upgrade. Let me just say this. Once you have a taste of this monitor and you spend some time with it fully utilizing it for gaming, web browsing, and everything else trust me when i say…theres no going back to anything else. I paired this monitor with a completely new rig. I913900 and ofccourse the rtx 4090. Im getting more snipes in bf2042 than i ever had before and i run it in 4k 240hz getting around 100-180fps Also let me say this. You dont have to go to oled. The g8 oled they r coming out with has less than 240hz i think its like 175hz. But the non oled va G8 panel is buttery smooth 240hz with the monitor feel. You really only need oled for non gaming in my opinion.

Hi, since you are super professional, I ask you! I have a rtx 4090, and I want to buy a samsung neo g8... On amazon there are 2 versions there is the 2022 version (1100€) and it is hdr10, and the 2023 version, more expensive (1400€) which is "quantum hdr2000" I would like to understand which of the two to buy, since there are no reviews of the 2023 version, I'm not rich, and I don't want to throw away my savings, but if it's really worth it, if there is really better hdr on 2023, if they have solved many problems, I would be happy to spend 1400€ to get the best monitor. Unfortunately there are none 32" oleds.... I have a tv but I suffer from motion sickness.. On the other hand if there are better monitors than the neo g8 2023, I'd be happy to hear it... I searched a lot for these answers on internet, but of the neo g8 2022 vs 2023, there is no trace even on the Samsung site where they sell it from... Thanks in advance, also from all (too many) those looking for an answer to this question... : )

I bought this monitor about 2 weeks after it launched for $1091 USD after promotional launch and other discounts. Glad I did as it never went down that much even during this Black Friday sales. It's a superb gaming monitor. It might not get exactly OLED like contrast, but it gets very close. I have this paired with an RTX 3090 and Ryzen 5950X. I may not get 240Hz all the time gaming at 4k res but I'm not particularly worried about that. I just like having the headroom for it. It's better to game and get 160-200 FPS on a 240Hz monitor than on a 144-165Hz monitor that clips those fps gains. While the Samsung Neo G8 is an awesome monitor, it does have its flaws. The main one is the scanlines that are present when playing at 240hz. It's not very noticeable and hardly perceptible if you at least sit at arm's length away from the screen but it's definitely there. This doesn't bother be that much. The thing that bothers me the most is that my custom settings randomly resets when changing inputs. My Neo G8 is connected to 3 devices---my main gaming PC (Windows), my mini PC for work & school (Linux), and Steam Deck. Switching inputs gets my custom Color settings randomly resetted. The other settings such as Brightness and Contrast are kept, just the Color ones. This is despite having the latest firmware (version 1003). Occasionally I would check the Neo G8's support download page if they finally have a new firmware update and as of this writing, they don't. Another thing I didn't like about Samsung is their notorious bad QC. Mine came with a 3-inch scratch (looks like it was done by a razor blade) on the bottom left bezel. Good thing it wasn't on the actual screen. There are also 3 dirt spots that are as big as a pixel inside the screen. They are not dead/bright/stuck pixels. They are simply pixel size dirt. At the end of the day, the Samsung Neo G8 is an excellent gaming monitor with specs to vouch for it. I didn't go the OLED route on a monitor since I keep a lot of static images/windows/apps on my screen and I'm afraid of having burn-in issues. For TV though, I recently bought a 77" LG C2 OLED and have no regrets on both build quality, features, and screen performance on that one.
