Dex for PC is my favorite Samsung feature that I use often. Plus Samsung's other apps are great too like messages and edge panels. If all this goes away, I have little reason to keep buying Samsung. I've already turned off my auto updates to make sure I don't get the update that disables dex for pc.

Can you not open the Samsung Gallery app then pick the photo, instead of going to the Photos and trying to "open with" ?

The downside, you have to sign into to a microsoft account to use Phone Link. Thereby you are letting MS see everything on your phone. Most likely much of that information will be send back to ms servers, so much for privacy.

bro wtf ive never used dex for windows, the main purpose most people use dex is for their phones to have a desktop interface when they connect the damn to their TV or MONITORS, not to a fucking pc which is already a desktop interface. That the point of dex, samsung. Why tf would anyone use dex on their already running computers with a desktop interface??

Nah man I Have my S23U & HP i3 11th gen Laptop I record my videos on s23u but when I want to edit them my laptop doesn't works pretty well with 4k footage as editing on a tiny 6.8 inch screen is pretty clingy tbh. So I installed capcut on my mobile and use dex to have a larger view on my laptop and edit my videos with a fairly better comfort as it uses my phone's power but with a larger display

The thing with link to windows you have to keep your phone by your side, so if i want to access an app i have to go to the phone and allow it from there to stream, not all photos sync only camera ones and its missing lots of stuff, dex is just different its a whole operation and you dont really need the phone beside you

Yes, I am using it now and it's really cool, the only thing missing is One UI itself ie like editing photos and AI, but it's good, I like it. I still would have preferred if Samsung kept the windows Dex client just to eliminate the need of hdmi usb.

1. Samsung Dex more flagship exclusive features. Its disappointed if samsung drop it 2. Motorola has best smart connect feature for windows 11. 3. Xiaomi hyper OS 2 has Mac screen mirror feature (this blow my mind) 4. Windows link app support by all vivo, OnePlus etc device. 5. Microsoft launch windows 11 native app for android and iOS which work as remote use . I wish window and android should more interconnect than flagship exclusive features alao Xiaomi like Mac interconnect

If Apple will not implement support for desktop mode on their iPhone, Samsung will most likely end support for the entire Dex feature after few years from now as not a lot really use it for productivity. I own a Samsung flagship and I rarely use Dex. I also know a lot of Samsung users and non of them uses Dex.

Not really. Dex is a key offering, they are ending dex windows client after they did the same for Mac OS... And we can't use USB c cable directly but need usb to hdmi or Miracast wireless for Dex.

Dex for pc is the only thing keeping me on samsung because regular dex has zero use for me. link to windows is and always has been GARBAGE because you can't use a USB cable.

I dont see this necessarily as a bad thing if Windows Link steps up and offers the same functionality to all Android users. A move to include more users, and not lock people into one brand for a feature sounds like a move in the consumers direction. There are may reasons why I wouldn't even consider an apple device right now, but their drive to lock-in their customers with proprietary features and exclude others is one of the main ones.

The thing is that although it's good, its not the same... Like in the example I showed, with Dex pc client I can use stock Samsung app functions, with windows link I can start apps but not use core One UI functions.. And it's nowhere near a desktop experience. Tough Dex will still work with usb c hdmi cable or wireless with Miracast it's frustrating that we can't use it via USB c cable anymore...

Samsung is not an important company anymore. I’m not saying this because of their recent update. In general, they are now a company that mostly sells affordable phones for people who just need basic features, like calling. People who are good at their work and can afford an iPhone see how well and stable it works, and they go and buy one. Maybe it’s just the people around me, but everyone with no financial problems and a good income moves to the Apple ecosystem. Whether it’s a computer, tablet, or phone, I am in the same situation. It works properly and realistically. No matter what people say. Even if they release a 1000-megapixel camera, in most scenarios for photos and videos, iPhone is still much better. And we don’t even need to talk about long-term usage. You can use the same iPhone for years. It gets updates for many years, and every app works with full optimization. Unless they make a major improvement, the Android world will not win the battle against Apple anytime soon.
