Samsung recommends rear speakers to be pointed toward the middle of the room in the case that you have enough room to put them behind you. But in the case of your setup, with the sofa right at the wall, wouldn’t it be better to turn them around a it more to face you almost directly? Just minimum diagonal

@@dangerousdpak hi... Not possible in Q990c but with Q990D you can use the private mode where all the sound will be played through rear speakers instead of soundbar, but even In that case soundbar is to be ON and the connected, just the sound will be through rears. Hope this helps.

Hi..I just bought a Q990D soundbar.. Will the sound effect be good, if i fit the rear speaker 2ft above my ear level height pointing downwards or is it too high (from floor 5 ft high)

If you can point them down towards you, it should be fine. But make sure that the inclination is not too much that the top firing sound is rebounded way outside of you and you are not in the bubble.

Speakers are kept on mount not fixed, isn't there a risk of topple ? If anyone/anything touch the speaker it may fall.

Hey... The speakers have to be stuck to the plate with double-sided tape provided. And yes this arrangement is not suitable if you kids and expect accidental movements of the speakers.

Do the rears still sound good even though they're not 3ft behind you.. I'm about to buy 990D, and worried about the fact the rears will be in-line with my head, and not behind it

To be honest the rears aren't great on the Samsung anyway, you have to boost them up in the menu to almost max just to hear them so they're better next to you rather than 3 foot back, at 3 foot you wouldn't hear them over the front bar

Closer, the better. You have to tweak the levels in the app according the position anyway for getting the best experience. If the rears are further away, then the fronts have to be mellowed down.
