It's hard to find too many reviews or comparisons between the QN900A and the QN90A... from what I gather around the web the QN90A gets brighter in larger areas while the QN900A can get a much higher peak brightness at small levels. Would love to see someone like you with your thorough comparisons do a comparison between these two and compare bright highlight scenes and broader bright scenes for comparison.

that infinity bezel is impressive ... Samsung must have borrowed the engineering from their commercial video-walls which used extremely narrow bezels like this to stitch multiple screens into a single video wall ... but personally i don't care about bezels. i do care about central stand and one connect box. i think this TV would be one of the best in terms of design even without the infinity bezels.

When you show blooming on miniLED, why don't you adjust the exposure so it looks as close to real-life as possible? I know everyone would be viewing with different monitors, but it would be a good thing to see too. So people don't panic if the blooming isn't bad.
@johnb4905
@johnb4905 3 жыл бұрын
What about a compromise and lower the exposure at the end to show how it looks to the naked eye?
@hdtvtest
@hdtvtest 3 жыл бұрын
@Agiver Reviga: Because the dynamic range of cameras is less than the dynamic range of HDR TVs, there is no way to fully capture shadow detail without introducing blooming. If we don't use high camera exposure to capture what's presented on the TVs, shadow detail would be crushed in the captured footage, which deviates even further than what our eyes are seeing in real life. You can easily test this yourself by displaying a dark scene on any OLED/ FALD LED LCD TV, and trying to capture the shadow detail using a camera/ a phone to mimic what your eyes see. You will need to use such a high ISO that video noise and blooming is inevitable.

With all the bias towards OLED tech, let's take a moment and appreciate what Samsung has done! I would buy a flagship Samsung LCD with FALD over any OLED if it offered Dolby Vision. I hate the idea of babysitting a TV to avoid a burn-in. And I realize LG/Sony OLED has improved the algorithms to reduce the risks.

from personal experience the more expensive a tv the more sacrifices you make. I purchased an lg cx two years ago and in some situations it can look great and in others is looks like garbage . specially sdr content, when actors are in doors in a show it’s so dark you can’t see their faces ! last month i purchased a cheap $300 samsung tv for my kids and to my surprise it looks better than my lg cx in 90% of the content lol, i even started playing my ps5 on it as the picture looks so much more alive and vibrant than on the cx, and i can even play 30fps games on it with it and it’s not being choppy like a rock skipping on a lake when compared to my lg cx oled. Moral of the story buy what your gut tells you these reviews are nothing more than promotions for very pricy tvs that don’t really deliver and only look good on paper and in very controlled content for demo purposes .

@@ryuyasuaki Just bought mine, 85" Absolutely worth every penny. I also have a Q950A sound bar and the two makes for quite an impressive soundstage. I can't turn it up past 35...way to loud!! Biggest Plus in my opinion is the one connect box, separating the power cord from the TV makes for a much more convenient set up experience. Does an excellent job handling reflections, there's a huge bay window across from the TV in my living room. And there's no issue with the reflections except forearm completely black screens. Wouldn't hesitate to buy it again, couldn't imagine a valid reason for buying the QN900A , there is slight blooming with extreme off angle viewer like when you're standing physically alongside the TV. Just FYI

Hi Vincent I've got a 75" QN900A and found while calibrating that SDR and HDR brightness would sometimes read higher, and SDR gamma would change. In HDR a 10% window would sometimes be 1600 nits and other times over 2000 nits. Long story short I found a soft reset would give the higher brightness and now have instant on turned off and always get the higher brightness. Could you try the soft reset trick on yours to see if you get higher HDR brightness?

@kajurn791 3 жыл бұрын
No. Because it's an integer multiple of most popular resolutions including 1440p it's the ideal resolution for integer scaling purposes. Higher pixel count also means higher PPI for large sized displays, which is very important as well. It needs good upscaling tech in it however, and as far as i've seen most TVs don't have the best upscaling unfortunately.

Oled not only looks dim but also the light reflects and all we see is a great reflective view of my backyard than the actual picture on the screen. Oled maxes out at 700 nits, and rarely close to 1200/1300 nits. I chose a Sony Z8H because to me I love the hdr impact 2500 nits have, it's not even about 8k etc. It's not about what is the best display, it's about your use case scenario. For my bedroom which is dark, I still love the plasma I have in there, and I intend to get the A90J(oled) to replace it when ever I come around to it. Thank you for the comment! Oled s are awesome.

I have been getting conflicting information from Samsung around Multi View. Do you know if Multi View on the 8K TVs allow for the use of two simultaneous HDMI inputs? As an example, can I connect two different PS5s to the TV and play both using Multi View?

This tv seems very similar to the new iPad Pro screen. ~2500 zones (1900 for 16:9) with similar contrast ratio ( 2018 iPad was ~1800:1 from some review I saw). Is this TV better than the QNED99 from LG if we talk about contrast and black levels?

I've had a recurring issue with Samsung TV's where if the overall image is supposed to be dark other areas that are supposed to be bright or subtitles are severely dimmed. The only solution is activating game mode, but that only works on external connected devices. Apps baked into the device can't be setup with game mode so the issue persists there. Is there any modern TV that allows local dimming to be completely disabled?
@PSYCHOV3N0M
@PSYCHOV3N0M 3 жыл бұрын
Sony TVs if I'm not mistaken. You can adjust individual picture modes for each HDMI port and use a specific picture mode or custom mode for all built-in apps to use. Sony aims for accuracy instead of using an aggressive local dimming algorithm that causes black crush.

Could anybody tell me why lower native contrast has bad perfermance in low APL scenes? I mean, QN900A already has 1920 local dimming zones, and alomst zero black level when you swith local dimming on, doesnt that mean almost pure black in anytime when you turn it on? Or there are someone who buy this 1920 zones TV without turn local dimming on when they watching?😨

Basically 8k is the problem, smaller pixels, that don't let has much light though, and you need a lot more processing power, this moment in time 8k is completely pointless. Even the new PlayStation and Xbox is not true 4k.....

I envisage a point when each cell (pixel) will have a backlight that is specific to that cell. And that means each pixel will then be capable of having a very deep black level. And each LED will be a true RGB emission electrode.

I was watching the attract mode for this TV in a store recently and over all I liked the appearance it wasn't crush the blacks to much and it was bright enough. - with overall nice level of detail of most things. HOWEVER even on their own demo there was some worrying processing errors on the pan over the trees and on the jetski near a cliff it was like a TV of 10 years ago - not good at all all and that is an at least UHD image - so that is a bit worrying. Samsung is doing something a bit weird with it's 8K sets that seems to lead to them not processing images correctly or in ways that leads to image smear, posturisation, clickering or blurr. I think they need to get elbow deep in their code and see what the issue is, incidentally I was also looking at last years model and aside from some weird centre screen odditity that was barely noticable that didn't seem a huge difference and in some scenes the blurr or pixelisation was not present. It might be interesting to look at these TV's in extreme detail with a bluray disc looking at things like bright flowers see if it's doing weird things to that - Oh also I think it's mandatory to test the KZbin app on any 8K TV really since that will be people's main source of Native 8K content for the life time of this TV at least.. I wish Samsung would work on their little niggles they always manage to screw up the important little details. For example you can only have one working sound source on picture in picture out of the TV - (Unless you are really crafty with your inputs)
