The only UHD TVs you can get in my country are curved really. Except for some weird looking sony...
@TalesOfWar10 жыл бұрын
Raisin Toast It's the same argument they used for 3D and Smart TV's. "Lots of people buy them so they must want them!" totally ignoring the bit where it's damn near impossible to not have 3D or "Smart" TV functionality in most newer TV's. Unless you buy the cheaper models, but then they don't look as good, so you're kind of forced to get that crap.
@Jeffers309410 жыл бұрын
TalesOfWar I actually really love my smart TV, means I don't have to fuck around with my PS3 and stuff like that to get internet TV. 3D sucks through, I've had my TV for almost a year and yesterday was the only time I have ever taken the 3D glasses out of the box :D.

Manufacturers have been telling consumers that since at least the 1950's & the truth is that we convince ourselves that we need that latest piece of tech with it's extra features, despite it costing more than we can really afford! The reality is that most people love to be one-up on their neighbours/friends/relatives with as many posessions as possible! Worst thing is that in your average shoebox house/unit, a curved-screen TV is even worse than a flat-screen for the unlucky family members who don't get to sit straight in front of the TV! &B^{/?

Hey. I need some help from anybody that might know. I recently bought some beats studio 2.0 and when I plug them in there is a faint buzzing or humming sound. Is this the noise canceling or our these broken?
@HispanicAt7heDisco10 жыл бұрын
Your first mistake was buying anything from the Beats brand. They are very mediocre sound systems for a very high price. In any case, clearly it's too late now. You may have to break them in. Try just letting them sit while playing music for a couple of hours and then see if they still make that noise

The only thing with mentioning here was the integration of Playstation now delivering games to your tv without a console. Meaning you'd be able to play it on the tv without ever getting a PS. This means you would need the tv to have tons of storage space and memory to operate, also let's not forget a solid Internet connection which for those states with Google fiber will not be an issue. The rest of the US.... well we're fudged.

I've owned the samsung 8000 Series Smart TV since they first came out starting with the D 8000 then the ES 8000 and now the F 8000 which I have and the need to focus more on picture quality and less and how smart the TV is. Love the Netflix and Hulu but don't give two shits about all the apps and the computer browser. Just give me excellent picture quality and connectivity between my mobile device and my television. Voice controls are handy once in awhile when I'm on the toilet and I need to pause the TV because something I heard... Motion controls get rid of them nobody changes the channel with motion controls. Nobody uses motion controls to turn up the volume but if I'm in the kitchen it is nice to yell hi TV and then pause it.

Curved TV's are a gimic. It only makes since for sets larger then 80 inches. However this isn't my only gripe. Sure these new 4k sets look great. Prividing you have them in bright well lit areas. Put into a dedicated theatre room and that luster quickly wears off. They still are no where near the levels of the best plasmas. My bet is on oled which look beyond fantastic but still have to many problems. Franky i am getting tired of 4k UHD sets. Of which can't produce decent black levels either. I don't care how good the processing is. Unless it's full array i'm not interested at these price points, just saying.
@StevieRay9O10 жыл бұрын
Actually curved 4K computer-monitors make more sense in the real world as most people don't have large living-rooms or home-theatres (more like shoe-boxes) where they're lucky if they have a wall long enough to fit a large TV! Bad enough for those who end up sitting in the corners of the room having to watch the elongated images on a flat-screen, but imagine what it's like viewing a curved-screen!?!
@BlazinNSoul10 жыл бұрын
.
@BlazinNSoul10 жыл бұрын
StevieRay9O Yea I agree with you on that. Computer Monitors would be a pretty good fit considering. Everything else is just for show. A curved set also works in panoramic filming. Like in nature presentation which you see at your local museum or art gallery. In fact the Museum is probably the proper place for this don't you think lol. :)

I've seen a few in person in electronics stores. They're kind of annoying unless you have the perfect sweet spot in the middle. Kind of like earlier 3D TV's. You had to be in the right spot to get the best effect, which is wasted given TV's are made mostly for multiple people viewing them, not one.

@williamtaftt10 жыл бұрын
There was nothing new here at all... Samsung seems to just want to remake functionality that's already in other products. Like how they have to have their own version of an app in touchwiz instead of just using google apps that are already built into android. The casting things to the screen was a blatant ripoff of Chromecast and the icon even looked pretty similar. I'm not even upset that they're trying to get people to use their versions of services, but pretty often their services aren't even as good as the ones that they're trying to compete with. Pretty dissapointed with Samsung this year at CES.

If half of their UHDTV sales are curved, they must not be selling very many TV's!
@deepheart10010 жыл бұрын
Actually this past Black Friday at every Best Buy every 70 seconds a Samsung TV was sold. Do the math and that proves your argument invalid. If you want sources I am the Samsung expert at Best Buy and this information was provided to me by corporate. To further bury your claim for the month of December the curved in particular was sold to the point of being on back order. There was a period of three straight weeks that we could hardly even get a premium Samsung model on order for a customer. This goes for the entire company as a whole. So yes they have sold ALOT of tvs and a majority of them are curved. It's time to accept that curved is in!
@WIllyGilly32110 жыл бұрын
deepheart100 I stand corrected. Thank You. I would now like to ad the balance of what I was thinking when I made that last post. I spent some time looking at these curved designs face to screen. They only have value to me in one particular, rare use setting. As I see it, the only good reason to buy one of these things is if you plan on watching it by yourself sitting centered; within 6' of the screen so you get a wrap around effect keeping the screen covering your peripheral vision. It is impressive from that viewpoint as It does make it appear as if the image is 3D. However... once you move back or off center and get the frame outside your peripheral vision, the benefits of a curve are almost totally lost and you end up paying for the curve in reduced screen size to make up for the curve. So I guess a fool is born every 70 seconds now, must be deflation.... Sorry if I bummed you out, but this is how I see it and I produce TV. I've done over 100 broadcast shows to date. I bought into the 3D glasses thing, no more gimmicks for me. I think a high quality projector is the way to go if you really want emersion. Peace.

They want what Apple have. To control the whole thing end to end. Software and hardware. Why do you think they have their own version of pretty much every single default Android app? Even the damn settings! It's to get people used to theirs so when they make the switch people will be able to use it already. The 3rd party stuff will be interesting though haha.
@complexgrafix10 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is true. I just don't see a vast amount of people wanting to switch to a new os even if they are use to it. The negative side is not having nearly the amount of apps as android or ios. I have a note 4 currently. ( The Best Phone line in my opinion) but if they were to release say the Note 5 with Tizen I would not consider upgrading. your going from almost 1.5m apps to at launch what? a few hundred. Samsung needs incentives for developers. Time will tell :-) ....
