Got my Q990D two days ago and I couldn't be more thrilled. I have a 85" QM8 and pairs nicely. You honestly don't need Q symphony. From what I have been reading, the difference is very minute. Use the adaptive sound with sound fit on and you'll be a very happy person. I'm still trying to figure out the channel levels and determine if it needs tweaking but it's a great buy! You won't be disappointed.

I’m from India. I bought a q990d a month back after watching a lot of reviews on KZbin. Mostly made my decision after watching yours and Andrew’s review😅. The sheer sound quality and surround of the soundbar with the sub and two rear is just mind blowing! I totally agree with you I can’t stress how much of a bang for buck the whole system is. I bought it along with an 85’’ Samsung neo qled qn85d. Q symphony is great but i might add I’m not sure if the tv speakers produce enough output to make a difference but it’s just a complete package and sounds great. I added an Apple TV 4K to my set up last week and I’ve had a ps5 for quite some time now. All these things included. I’ve used all HDMI 2.1 cables behind my tv unit to make it clean without any wires poking out and mounted my soundbar below the TV. MAN! I’m so proud of my setup and can’t stop bragging about it. My living room is my ADDA now. I’d rather spend time here in my living room than anywhere else. Might sound like a couch potato but that I am. Cheers to the q990d 🔥. @ just go with q990d. It is all around a better system. Calibration is a breeze on the Samsung soundbar, just connect the bar, sub and the surrounds to power and see the magic happen ;)

I have the Q990C and it is a monster. Paired with the S89C and benefits from the Q Symphony feature. We can maybe go the 15 on the volume max before it simply blows us out of the room. Voices are perfectly clear.

I don’t know if the q-symphony feature (pairing soundbar with TV speakers) is working or not. Here’s why, when I originally purchased and setup the Q990D with my TV (Samsung S90C) it displayed TV AND Q Symphony when changing the volume. After a month or so, I noticed it just shows solely Q Symphony when changing the volume. I ran the gamut troubleshooting with a Samsung tech, but we were unable to fix the issue. I’m wondering if there even is an issue because the soundbar is outstanding. Its only because this Q Symphony feature was advertised, do I really care.

@@pat9753 I own a 85’’ qn85d and it says Q symphony on mine too. It’s a Samsung os update! They changed it to Q symphony from TV & Q symphony.. sounds better and looks better on the screen while changing volume and makes sense. BTW I noticed only vocals are enhanced from the TV speaker. Not so much as the rest. Tv speakers are just used to enhance the surround stage. So what I’m saying is it’s supposed to say Q symphony while changing volume… meaning everything including the tv speakers are working.

Was able to steal the q990d for $800 and the qn85 for $2700 using PerkSpot.. Just waiting on Samsung to deliver it in a few days. This will be a huge step from listening to the tv speakers. I may have to rewatch Band of Brothers or something like Twister to get immersed in it.

I believe they have slightly different tuning. Ultimately I believe the main difference is a boost in clarity. If you want to dive into the scientific differences Rtings have a proper article breaking down the performance.

I have the Q930b samsung sound bar. It really good, has a good rumble sound. You can connect it with your phone thought Bluetooth and watch movie trailers on your phone, and have good sound while watching them.

Im sure you have your answer by now but I just bought the s95tr to match with my LG G4 Oled and im regretting my purchase. I do still have till January 31st to return and im heavily thinking about it. That's if I can get a real good deal on the Q990C or the Q990D. I mean the LG soundbar is not bad but not great neither. It still beats out having to use tv speakers but I want to hear the surround of the soundbar and the fullness of the sound and thats not what S95tr has given me

I have been trying to tinker with the sound settings to get the best sound and when I think I have found the sound I want, I go back to the drawing board and try to get more. It gets the job done for the most part but I want more from it and I just dont know if I will ever get that. I found a Q990D at best buy and tried listening to it but idk what it was but didnt really blow me away like most of these reviewers are saying. Could of just been best buy store and its open area and sound not really bouncing off the walls or could of just been the movie that they had showing on the tv at the time.

​@@FatKidFriendly53 I'm pretty sure they'll be similar. I also have open space from one side. So I'm not confident that getting any sort of soundbar would suffice. But for something under 1k worth I'm sure it would do it's job to some extent. Not in the market for proper physical speakers so soundbar will do. I think I'll pull the trigger on the s95tr since it will unlock certain extra features on my LG C2 (albeit a bit of a gimmick and trick to convince you to staying within the ecosystem). Main thing I hear is the height channels are not as good as the 990d. But again, my ears or anyones in the family are not professional sound engineers, so I'm sure it will be better than TV speakers! 😂. Regarding your issue on finding the right settings, I've read around and most say it's a matter of tweaking. So I think it's playing around to see where it's best. For movies most go for cinema or standard. Also someone mentioned something on not having the surround setting on (can't remember exactly though). But in general, what would you say the sound from the s95tr is, OK or so so?

The Arc for the bar and the rear channels and sub connect to the bar wirelessly... however if you have a Samsung TV. There's a feature called Q Symphony that works entirely wirelessly with the TV.

You mention you don’t need to buy this version if you are not planning to add your gaming console with 120hz to your tv…… but I think you mean the soundbar. Because you can plug your console into the TV and play on 120hz. Only the sound will go to the Soundbar. This is how I currently have my setup. All devices directly in my tv with supported HDMI ports and the sound to my soundbar. No issues at all. Or do I missunderstand what you say?

You're correct but being able to connect current gen VRR capable consoles directly to the Soundbar can free up HDMI Ports on the TV so for me personally I appreciate being able to do that, otherwise I wouldn't have enough HDMI ports on my TV.

@@interistapazzo1.9.0.8 yes. You just need to connect PS5 to your tv HDMI 2.1 port. The advantage of 990D is it has HDMI 2.1 port on soundbar itself so you can connect PS5 directly to soundbar and get 4k 120Hz passthrough.

The rear speakers are the same between the 990B, 990C and the 990D. The differences between the three are very minimal. Different between this one and the 990C is the 4K 120Hz passthrough HDMI. Also that you can have the rears as seperate speakers

I would go for the JBL all day every day. The thing on the other side is this : Samsung makes there soundbar(s) compatible with their tv's. I'm amazed by the reviews from ordinary people, and the positive comments about the HW-Q990D. I have the JBL 3.1 450W it has brought me so much joy and pleasure 🎉 My neighbours weren't that happy when i have the Bar on full volume 😂 Like i said I would go for the 1300 JBL with their spectacular subwoofer 👌🏻 I'm still in doubt what to buy, and this video isn't very helpful 😂😂😂

Is it possible to add a second subwoofer, even if it’s just a line out from the back of the subwoofer? My living room is part of an L-shaped open floor plan and even my SVS PB 1000 Pro on my current 5.2 system has a hard time filling in all the nulls in the room. I may be forced to “downgrade to a soundbar” if I want to fit a bigger tv in the 4 piece entertainment center.

I'm using LG G3 at the moment...when I first set it up. Something strange was going on with the Vocals, it seemed to strip them out almost entirely...a quick hard reset solved that. I haven't experienced any other bugs.

Samsung tv paired with a Samsung sound bar gives you the advantage of Q-synphony. Which means it uses the speakers of your tv and soundbar simultaneously to add to the sound and make it more immersive and enveloping. I’d say it makes a difference. If you can, get the Q990c it’s cheaper and seems like there’s not many differences compared to the 2024 model😊

Is the Subwoofer stronger on the 990D than 990C? At first I found the Bass on the 990C Sub underwhelming and it seemed like the soundbar was carrying the system; UNTIL I moved the subwoofer away from the wall about 10” of space for the rear and 13” of space for the side and now the Bass is punching right, still slightly weaker then my 10” Klipsh downfiring sub, but still is more then adequate. Right now you can get 990C with 2-3 year warranty’s for $950-$1100 which is an excellent price for what the 990C does. I have it hooked up to a 65” S95B, I would advise pairing this with a Samsung TV and nothing smaller then 65” seeing how massive the Soundbar is, 48” across and over 5” deep But if the Bass on the Sub was improved this year that means the the 990D series is now the Perfect beast

Yeh the bass is powerful. It can be turned down and there is a night mode which basically mutes it

I had the Q990B and to be honest was not impressed maybe i had it set up wrong but i found the sub lacking and the rears to be almost non existence so i sold it then got the BOSE 900 its pretty good but still is missing something so i am gonna give Sonos a try gonna start with the BEAM 2 + Sub Mini + ERA 100's its for a 12x14 foot room with 7.5 foot ceiling if i am still not satisfied i will try the ARC ULTRA + Gen 4 Sub + ERA 100's or the ERA 300's hopefully i can find my happy space lol great review cheers from Canada

I got the Samsung HW-Q990C soundbar, I didn't even know that there was a newer one for 2024. So I had to checkout your video, to see what's the difference between the HW-Q990C to the HW-Q990D. I saw some difference in the addon's to the soundbar in SmartThings, which is interesting for the rear speakers. I just think that there wasn't much of a difference between them, except for the HDMI's switched as the HDMI Arc is higher than last years model.

La consulta es el soundbar tiene todos los hdmi 2.1 para dolby atmos TRUE HD. Ya que tengo el SAMSUNG Q930C con HDMI eARC y un HDMI 2.0, lo conecto a mi placa de Pc ASUS MAXIMUS Z790 HERO EVA 02, tiene HDMI 2.0. Me reconoce el Dolby Atmos con el reproductor del FAB PLAYER para dts x y Atmos. El detalle es que cuando reproduzco el Bluray digital de musica de Bryan Adams en concierto en center hall, le pongo DOLBY ATMOS 7.1, el soundbar lo reconoce y marca dolby atmos. Ahora es bajo lo que se escucha, es como si tuviera compresión, un DOLBY ATMOS digital plus quer son con perdida. Al alzarlo el volumen, se escucha mejor los detalles de la guitarra, bateria, vocalizacion, etc. En conclusion he llegado a que la placa no tiene dolby atmos y el hdmi es 2.0 y soundbar con hdmi 2.0, por lo cual me da un DOLBY ATMOS CON PERDIDA dolby digital. Te agradeceria si haces la prueba en otro video.

For me, the only negative side of the Samsung system is that they offer everything but I think it is a much better option when you can step-by-step build your home system like Sonos, first, you can buy a soundbar then add Sub and see if it is perfect for you and if it is perfect than no need to buy rear speakers but when you decide to level up your system later you can buy rear speakers too but in this case, you want it or not it comes with everything. also, I agree with you and sometimes I can not understand the stupid politics of brands. why you are not offering for example white version, I think a lot of people will agree that from an aesthetic point of view for home design interior, it will be a beautiful option to have different color options. and the weird thing is that in this big company, there are a lot of clever people marketing specialists, and so on who know better than we that color option will be nice but somehow they continue not to offer that option.

Got sonos beam 2,sub mini and 2× era 100 and honestly even though the eras aren't dolby atmos compatible the set up as a whole is impressive dare i say better than most systems including this samsung one.

Sonos’s absolute advantage is the way you can switch out and upgrade elements over time… so if you wanted to upgrade to arc you won’t need to change all the other elements.

This soundbar has a glitch!! If connected to wifi it could be controlled remotely by someone else, they’ll also remotely increase the volume to max

I've just bought one lf these for my bedroom. It's nice, but it's no match for my Denon AVC-X6700, with 13 speakers and 2 subs. I'm just glad I got it for a coupon price of £750. 😊 It's surprisingly nice though.

The great thing about the Arc is you can add and upgrades parts of the system as new things come out...the 990D is more of a one and done solution.

The main advantage to the Sonos system is you can mix and match the subwoofer or surround speakers to other rooms. The Q990C/D speakers are only to be used with the system. The Q990C can also be purchased for under $1k and that's about half of what Sonos Arc, subwoofer, and surrounds would cost.

Guys pl try Bose ultra sound bar with Sub 700, it also blow your mind-PUNCH. Its Rear speakers for dolby atmos are not great!!. but it still blows out & its Wireless. I stay in USA, checked Samsung, Sony only thing near or equal to bose is Sonos Arc Ultra. Bose looks great if your buy White or Black, its elegant & has punch pack with AI to enhance dialogues
