I bought the 77 inch after watching several of yours and FOMO's reviews and other detailed info videos and love it!! Where i live i dont have any known calibrators but I've tried your settings from your other S95/S90 calibration video and while i may not possess a professional eye to know how close or far off it remains that also was a HUGE difference and help. Thanks for sharing what you did pointing us in the right direction. Look forward to seeing any additional video you may do on the settings for this TV as well, if possible please distinquish if anythign differs in recomended settings between 1st and 2nd gen panels. We have a 77inch C2 in the bedroom, a80j 77inch in the den, and 75inch X95J in the living room which is a monster and very bright but heavy and the OS on it has been slow and very sluggish. My wife wants to switch it out for a QD-OLED and try the Samsung S95C for the living room.

Just found your channel, thanks for the review. I am looking to replace my 10 year old living room TV that is basically being used as a gaming/media PC monitor and would really like to step on the OLED train. I am not sure how warry I should be about burn-in for this use case. If you or anyone knows of a good source of info for this use case and If it is worth it I would appreciate it. I know rtings has thier extreme burn in test going on but I have no idea how relevant that is for real world stuff like this. I am really stuck between wanting this TV or going with the QN95C to be "safe".

regarding image quality, did you perform these tests using Netflix streaming for those dark scenes? cuz is quite well known that compression does impact that quality heavily, you can see compression artifacts on screen. do those issues reproduce on an uncompressed video?

hello Classy, thank you for the review, yesterday i got mine at 77" to replace my 65" LG C1. im not so happy with my S90C, i have black crush and bad shadow detail especially in game mode compared to my old C1, so to fix the issue i tried to raise the shadow detail in my picture setting and the dynamic black equalizer in game mode but then i feel i get lifted black and the colors looks a bit washed out. please can you take a look at the game mode in your next video and help us with the settings. i also dislike the panel coating used on the s90c, i wish they went with the glossy finish on the panel so the black dont look grey at lit rooms.

Not sure I notice what you mean about panel coating. Highly suggest watching his s95c setting video and other white point calibration video. They were game changing for me. It uses an inaccurate color mode out of the box but his videos really helped me understand how to more accurately adjust settings and how big of a difference it makes.

Got the 77 inch from Costco for $2,500 plus $200 Shop Card and of course the included 5 year warranty. It’s the best TV I’ve ever had by far, I was coming from a Sony X90J, and before that Samsung Q6FN, so this was a huge jump for me. Movies look incredible, so much depth of image and rich colors. Sports look fantastic as well, and video games look amazing, little details I never saw on my previous TV. I don’t think I can go back to LCD LED tv after having this one, OLED is just outstanding. It had some quirks, yes, but overall for the price as you stated it’s incredible value.

@@kaiserfakinaway5909 If the image is inaccurate I haven’t noticed, aside from maybe a bit of shadow detail loss in the darkest scenes. No, the quirks I was referring to are mainly the menus are a pain with the included remote, takes way too long to get to useful menus with it, not intuitive at all, I had to buy a Samsung remote on Amazon with all the useful buttons. Also the tv chooses when it wants to recognize my Roku remote for things like volume control and when it doesn’t, there’s no rhyme or reason to it. Those are annoying quirks, but hardly enough to make me not keep this fantastic tv, just means I have to use 2 remotes at all times. Also I watch some content off of USB drives plugged into the tv, and it erased one of them, but luckily I always keep backups of backups, so it was fine and it hasn’t happened again since. Aside from that I’ve had little to no issues with the tv.

@@ajwtf6539 I’m sure there was a small adjustment period for motion on some things, maybe sports, but for the most part if you turn motion blur to 0 and judder to 1-3 motion looks great. I actually notice a lot of..I don’t know the word, maybe ghosting when I go back and watch the LCD TVs in the other rooms of the house. It’s not a bad thing, just LCD has a totally different feel as far as motion than OLED. I’d suggest trying out the 77 S90C at the very least, the jump in picture quality from the X90J is insane. There’s other things I love about it too, little things, like media played off of a usb stick loads and works immediately (I have a lot of downloaded old anime, old tv series’ and 90’s shows) where on the Sony it has to take a while to load it all up and is slow when navigating as well. Picture settings also get remembered from what I can tell not only per individual source, but even in individual apps within my Roku. I’ve been burned by Samsung a few times, and I could be here again who knows, but this is by far the best tv I’ve ever owned. Sports on streaming services in 4k for example blow the X90J (and IMO the X90L as well) away.

For the price, this TV is pretty tough to beat, at least at 77". Unless these top TVs are side by side, you would never notice or miss any differences. I have a 77" A80J and 65" A95K and next to each other, you can see a difference, but when I watch movies or shows on the A80J, I don't feel like I'm missing anything, doesn't change my enjoyment of whatever I am watching, still looks amazing. The 77" size makes it WAY better to watch movies on, than the 65" A95K.

You're absolutely right. Size would cover up for any drawbacks against flagship TVs. I would prefer 77" C3 or A80L over 65" S95C,G3, or A95L.

I just purchased one of these instead of a LG C3 because after viewing both in store Both looked great but the samsung was $600 cheaper than the C3. I love the pointer remote on the LG but $600 is a lot of money. $1800 vs $2400 in Australia for the 65 inch.

I had watched quantum channel and took his settings.. I had thought that where great but hadn't. Too oversaturated. First overall looks great on "standard" but then I am looking for skin tone and all details and had looks really bad. I am waiting for your setting on filmaker mode. I hope you will do correctly.

Loving my 65” so far. I’d warn anyone not to put it anywhere with direct sunlight. It does raise black levels in ambient light, but I probably prefer this to having a TV that’s too dim during the daytime. Just wish I was able to spend more time with it!

77 in was going for 1800 before Black Friday from Samsung website with AAA discount and 10% discount from a chat rep. Not sure prices will even get that good before they sell out when the new models hit. Got mine for 2k because they fixed the stacked 10% and still could not be happier with that price.

Absolutely LOVE my 77in! For the money can't be beat and much brighter than my G1. Yes I had crushed blacks at first but after break in time and shadow detail set at 3-4, never had a problem. I haven't noticed any blocking or flashing in low light scenes. I can watch it with the lights on and one window shining in no problem and with lights out HDR can be blindingly bright especially watching lightening, Godzilla fights etc. SDR brightness is meh sports watching is ok, get a backlit LCD if that's your main use. Gaming is AMAZING on it! Absolutely LOVE it! LOVE the color saturation and highlights. Motion isn't perfect but much better than last years Samsungs. Processing on low bitrate and resolution needs to be improved but it's not bad. Get a Sony and sacrifice money and brightness for it. Watching 4k BLU Ray is perfect in motion and picture quality. Couldn't be happier unless SDR full screen was brighter. Otherwise perfect for me. Definitely the best TV for the money! I look forward to your settings vid, especially game settings. I'm gonna try the iPhone calibration and Apple TV calibration thing this weekend.

From what I’m seeing, SDR brightness is still definitely better than in similarly priced OLEDs and it’s definitely a big reason I’m looking at this TV. Lots of Switch, which I’m sure looks super colorful on this thing.

Hiya! Im not a big tv person so kinda lost on a lot of the stuff described. I am however, a Samsung user for my phone and tablet/computer so the easy sync / screen sharing between devices is a huge plus for my needs. Im torn between the S90c and the QN90C. My son does a lot of xbox games (halo, skyrim, rocket league) and i watch a lot of hd/4k movies. Out of the two what would be the better option? We both are looking for crisp images that seem almost too real lol

This was using the AppleTV. The source doesnt matter. Upscaling is fine, its just heavily compressed dark scenes that Samsung tried to over process with no way to turn it off.

Classy, do you think the S90CD (Costco) with the 60w 2.1.2 TV sound system will sound that much better? Would the 60w from the Costco version sound that much better than the 40w from this version? I know, soundbar is best. But I was thinking of pairing a Samsung soundbar to this TV which they both would work seamlessly together. Would it sound better with the 60w vs these 40w? The Costco version is more money

@@brunoutechkaheeros1182 Yes, it could void your warranty. But is a repairman going to look at the service menu to see if you changed anything? Probably not. I've certainly never heard of it happening. But it's definitely do at your own risk.

The change is permanently logged in the service menu log, will Samsung or a tech look at the log is the risk, other question, is 10-20% more brightness in some scenes worth it.

@@krunoslavb8689 that's up to the owner to decide. If one is only on the manufacturers 1 year warranty they could do it soon if they wish. But that's up to the owners. Folks on AVSforums say that no tech has ever checked the service menu and denied service. But yeah, it could be a risk. I've not done it yet.

The sticker on the back of the TV and on the box would have a four digit code. If it says FB03 it's gen 2. If it's FA01 or FA02 it's gen 1.

You wouldnt even miss DV, the panel performance makes up for it and Samsung has good tone mapping.

the macro blocking is a bummer for me for a tv at this price point. I was comparing the x93l to the a80l today in best buy and to me the x93l was undeniably better, despite "only" be mini-led. I'm not sure how good the x93l is for gaming though - I've heard that some mini-leds don't do the backlight stuff correctly in game mode.
