Great review Phil! LG has really risen their game with MLA. Just removing the off axis colour shift makes it worth while. Dark scene banding on the LG's can utterly ruin a film though. Not sure why this isn't given more importance. No point having better blacks in a bright room if the TV cannot do clean dark blacks with the lights off. Worrying to hear that the Samsung has some banding now. I've had two LG's with banding that made me avoid dark grey material (ie most films!). So i'm hoping this Samsung sample isn't how most TV's will be.

IMHO the biggest difference with the C models is significantly improved BFI at 24p. It flickers less and is brighter. Would have been nice if you had looked at that. Also unfortunately I do see that cyan tint on LG panels even if they stand alone. It's quite disturbing. Finally, the new panels should hopefully have less burn-in, which is an issue with the first gen. So I guess getting the new model is worth it.

Can you tell us how you came to the conclusion that the LG is better in processing and motion, because other serious sources such as HDTVTest, RTings and Classy do not come to this conclusion. The only thing I can see there is that at RTings the LG is rated better with regard to low bit content, but not low res and the gradient handling, which is rated much better on the Samsung. Though it's slightly irritating that it can't reach the advertised spec, it's also a bit of a non issue - for typical use cases, you'd never need 144hz anyway.
