Hello! Thank you very much for providing this video. We had a 8 years old Samsung Tv with half the screen suddenly going dark shadow. After resisting the urge to replace the TV and realising the cost of a local repairer was too much, I found your great tutorial and undertook the repair with my wife. The TV is now like brand new but also it gave us a great sensation of satisfaction and empowerment. And to know that our now working TV didn't end up on a landfill is also greatly rewarding.. Thank you!! I know where to go now to get knowledge and spare parts if my Samsung device is playing up in the future! Rod

Hello Shop Jimmy. Thank you for posting this video. I did not need to replace my LEDs, but I used your guide to take the unit apart. I had an A/C condensation tray leak on the TV unit. Caused some corrosion to the power supply PCB and as a result of it getting in contact with water, a tin metal wire that takes current to the LED connector was rusted and split in half upon touching it for inspection. I replaced the rusted wire with a paperclip and it tested it for continuity and all LEDs lit up again. Once again Thank you.

Thank you very much for the video. Fixed a UA40F5000 - few very minor differences. Turns out bottom LED strip had fried the 12v and 24v resistors. Replaced this strip and the 4 strips all came back on ( 3 up top were working fine ). Thanks once again

I bought my LED strips from ShopJimmy and followed these tutorials on my 55 inch Samsung Smart that took a heavy power surge hit that damaged the wall socket without tripping the breaker. LED strips were obviously fried with scorch marks on the chassis from the power board and across the back of the chassis with the convex LED lenses all over the back of the unit. One issue after installing the new ones with ShopJimmy double-sided tape about three or four of the LEDs were slightly off-center on the reflector sheet after reinstalling it 1/16 or 1/8 at best I trimmed them to fit correctly. I replaced the Mainboard, and Powerboard, LED strips and waiting on the delivery of a new T-Con board so my Samsung Smart with begin anew, hopefully fully restored. Parts on older model Samsung builds are very reasonably priced and the televisions were better builds compared to today's rather expensive model line. Mine was a 2017 factory build that sold for $1,200.00 new.

Update> with a new Powerboard, Mainboard, T-Con Board and LED Strips installed when turned on everything lit up but the screen appeared black and cracked but not physically cracked only in light which I believe points to ribbon cables which are difficult to locate new as a complete kit or set.

One that has locating tabs on the edge to fit properly to the edge, and another one that's just has straight edges. Which one goes directly behind the main screen?

We have a samsung lcd tv. A few of led cups were fallen down and there were a few of bright spots. After disasembly 80% of the leds fell down. We glued them back but now the tv has lots of spots on the screen(not as bright as before but still noticible.) Is it because of the glue, or i don't know. The backlight only has a thick plexi layer and a white difuser sheet with unique tabs on the edges.

Hello. Why does the link leads to a 14 piece set, with both long and short led stripes? Why do we need all of them?\ nvm figured it out, they are one big stripe. The short one plugs into the long one and they make one unified stripe. Ok you should have said that.

got a ua40f500ar, bottom screen had a dark band but checking it later no display whats so ever, you can hear it turn on but no display. this showed me what to do to replace the lights..... would the lights turn on when powered without the lcd panel?

BTW, why do you need to tape the corners of the filters before removing?? Just to keep them together? Seems a little unnecessary if that's all.

Good video. I am having lenses fall off and want to get in there and re-glue them on. When I had 2 of them I took tv apart and got to the part where I un-clipped the scan drive boards and the front fram off but it looked like I could not get the front screen off so I stopped. Does it just left right off ? Was afraid to go any more . But now all I do is look at the 4 spots. So when the scan boards are off it should lift right out ? Thanks

did the repair.. all good all led strips working when I tested them directly after installation.. reversed the installation precisely to put everything back together and sadly something failed. no clue, dont have the skills to know what happened. my intuition tells me that something burned out after I turned the tv on now with all the cables connected again but im obv not sure. Went back in to swap out the remaining old led strips (initially replaced just 5 led strips) thinking maybe this would work but now none of them work when I plug the tv in power outlet.

if just bright spots is the issue, same process just all you need to do is glue the lenses back on no need to remove or replace strips

So these LED strips appear to run horizontally across the panel. On my UE40 the backlight failure started as a dark line spreading up from the bottom as if one or two LEDs had failed, but now the backlight has failed on the entire left side of the panel only - not the right side. I'm wondering if mine has a bigger problem then just failed LEDs?

@@ineptireplica1548 I'm confident mine is a backlight problem not a pixel problem as the picture is still there just unlit, it's just that as an entire side of the panel has failed then possibly the backlight power supply to that side has also failed. It could be the failed backlight LEDs have shorted and killed the power to that half. I've now bought a replacement (larger) tv anyway, and at some point I'll get around to dismantling the old one to investigate and hopefully fix.

I woudlnt think so these are white LEDs that are a backlight , not responsible for colours

You can test the LED board with a multimeter. And you can test the LED strips with 9V batteries in series to arrive at the correct voltage. I used 4 of them to get the to 36V on my Samsung. I had individul LEDs out on two of the three strips and the third did not light up at all. Just received the three replacement strips shipped on a slow boat from China (seems like) and will install them today. Hoping for the best.....

On my old Samsung TV because I had the led brightness turned up to maximum and believe the heat generated causes the led to oxidize sorry if I'm using the wrong word but basically some sort of reaction happens with the plastic or glass turning it purplely blue patches

@@rockabillyblue9463 what country are you from? And I just looked on eBay it doesn't look like there is an inverter board but your problem might have something to do with the tcon board. When the TV is on but the screen goes black can you see any light coming through the back of the TV looking through the vents if so it's a high chance the tcon board has gone bad. I'm no expert but from doing abit of research this is the conclusion iv come to. Cheapest tcon board I found on eBay was £4 and £4 delivery

To find the tcon board on eBay just search the model number of your TV. but I would suggest if you do try replacing the tcon board check inside your TV first just to make sure you have the right part.

Rombout Versluijs I think it’s taped because you’ll know upon reassembly which was the front/back and top/bottom, so the filter will diffuse the light on the correct way.
