The Z fold 5 has survived the Jerry's durability test, quite impressive honestly. And that hinge test was insane. I think Samsung has found a way to really improve their craft. @jathanstewart82479 ай бұрын
So this video convinced me to get the z fold 5, after waiting years for the perfect folding phone to start with since durability is a major factor in the line of work I am in. Now, after some time with the fold 5, I have noticed many things. 1. The many complaints 2. Everyone discrediting the durability 3. Bashing camera quality, etc. However, if you like, I was wondering if it's worth it, I can definitely put that thought to ease. The answer is absolutely. The z fold is super durable, I am an air field electrician, so my pockest get filled with dirt and grime often, which has affected the phone's henge none. Moister that my phone has been subjected to has had no effect on the inner screen, ports, or speakers. It has been scratched on the metal frame and henge from a poor designed case allowing debris to get caught between the case and phone, which will be replaced with a dbrand case, but other than tiny scratches, no issues so far and my lifestyle is brutal on phones. The complaints about the thin front screen and camera quality aren't an issue either. I bought the phone, not for photo shoots and looking at aliens on the moon. Rather, I bought it for the purpose of multitasking, watching shows, gaming, and videos pretty much wanting the option of having a small tablet and phone together at the same time without the separation of using two seperate devices. The front screen is perfect for quick access or scrolling on social media, while the inner display is for everything else. The camera still takes beautiful pictures with amazing colors, quality, and contrast. The same goes for the video quality. If you want an army swiss knife for a phone, that is durable enough for everyday life, even for the more rugged lifestyle. Get this phone, you won't regret it. My only complaint is the misinformation people have let on about the quantity of this phone in other videos and reviews I have watched. If it wasn't for the Jerryrigeverything channel and the quality of videos you make. I wouldn't have the confidence in the product I end up buying, which has led me to enjoying my decisions rather than regretting them.

As someone who had the Z Fold 4 (traded it back in because I realized folding phones really weren't for me), I appreciated that the phone always felt just as sturdy open as it did closed. The "Permanent" screen protector CAN be removed, but you need to be careful. Basically once it starts getting peely after a year or so, you can very carefully pull it off and either go without or get a new one. There are aftermarket ones that seem to be decent, but it should be noted that Samsung has made it free or fairly cheap to get a new one, like $20 I think, but walk-in locations are limited and sending your phone in for one is very inconvenient. And a very good screen it is too. The tech is still quite new though, and there have been advancements in the way they are built and supported since the Fold1. But, the screen protector on mine has come loose along the seam and for me that's a deal breaker. Not just about the screen though. The camera's could be better, the lack of expandable memory shouldn't be a thing in so flagship and expensive a device, and I hate carrying my S-Pen separately as opposed to internally a la the Note series. Also, it's just my opinion, but I wish it was slightly wider. That would give a more natural aspect ratio on the external screen as well as a slightly bigger internal screen. I've simply not seen enough innovation between the Folds since the 3 to make me want to upgrade. I was hoping for something from the 5, but I'm disappointed. May go back to a glass rectangle at this rate.

@gemazarusgaming1549 I had the pre-installed screen protector on my Fold 3 come loose in about a year or so. Replaced it with a different one off Amazon and good as new. i currently have the 4, and have had it for about 6 months so far, i highly recommend a folding samsung device, super fast, super snappy, super durable, its been caseless for a month just because i like to appreciate how welll its built, its been around concrete dust and water quite often, and it has zero issues, and only 1 small scratch on the inner display that i keep losing the place of all the time, and battery life is better than expected, i rock my settings in power user mode (everything that drains the battery the fastest is turned ON at all times)

I recently realized that you didn't do a durability test on the note 20 (not ultra), and it would've been interesting to see how that one would have held up compared to other phones since it has a plastic back, and people dont seem quite sure on whether the frame was steel or alumimium. Thanks for this; Samsung has engineered a very impressive internal hinge mechanism, and it's impressive to see that the phone doesn't break in half when bent in the middle from the back. It's still too thick when folded though and the front screen isn't big enough and doesn't have a high enough resolution. I might consider a Fold when they can get it down to about 9mm thick without a case when folded and the front screen to be around 6.7" 1440p 120Hz+ display with Gorilla Armor.

I got the Fold 3 on release, 10 months later screen started cracking in the middle. I though it was annoying scratches, but they were cracks. Took it back, stayed at Samsung repairs for 4 weeks (while using my Note 10+ Star Wars edition) in the meantime, they called me and said they will get it replaced with the Fold 4 (which had just released). Handed the new Fold 4 over to my 13yr old son brand new, i patiently waited for the S23 Ultra. And i am glad i did. My son has had the Fold 4 for a year now, it has been great. Recently got the Fold 5. Was confused as to why they didn't include an s pen slot until I took my wife's Note 20 and compared the thickness. There is no way the s pen could fit. They really slimmed down the fold phones which makes it a nice fit in the pocket. I was curious as to how durable that hinge was. Nice to see how well it held up during your test.

Have a fold 3. It is not the same phone. I work in construction, I expected to destroy this phone, but it was still great. The weight doesn't matter however the full closure with the new hinge is it. Slight refinement is all it needed, although a spot for the pen like the wonderful Note line😢. I watch tons of KZbin and movies, allows me to avoid a tablet. And at 5'9, holding it open or closed in hand not a problem. Battery life is still good. However, when using open...well, obviously, it won't compare to less screen slabs. Bottom ,for me, the damn this pretty indestructible. BUT the inside screen cover is what I DEEPLY AGREE WITH! Wish you could change it yourself. Its starting to get residue under that screen cover in the center under it. But my screen is still fine! My port gets dusty but has taken many lickings and keeps on ticking 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️😆. Love this oversized phone undersized tablet. Can't beat the view!

Can give you feed back from a z4 fold. No real cosmetic damage, it had been dropped a few times. Fell out of my pocket riding a motorcycle onnthe road., had a case on it. Seem like then sudden impacts damaged the phone, knocked a few screws loose. Because over time the WiFi button stopped working, weeks later the Bluetooth, weeks later the mic, the speakers, the front camera, the inside screen looked fine but it didn't detect touch. Everytime the phone died it was hard to turn back on and when it did something else didn't work. Samsung quoted over $900 to repair so I just got the z5😅

The screen witheld ok as it was brand new, after a few months of usage the oils in folding screen maintaining elasticity will evaporate and the material will become more brittle, similar to old rubber.... The creases will become more pronounced and eventually cracks will appear along the middle which in time will cause catastrophic failure on the panel. I had 4 fold 3's and a fold 4 with identical issues, all were taken care religiously and I even tried using the small screen wherever possible to minimise folding main screen. Despite this all phones eventually failed of same issue with screen.

I think a lot of people miss that for the american version of the phone, that solid grey chunk is where the second sim card slot is on the foreign models. It -does- have a use. Here in the US we have one physical sim and a digital sim. Now I'm not positive, but I believe that the foreign model has two physical sims and no digital sim. I could be wrong on that but I believe that to be the case. It would be nice to use the extra space on the american side for an SD card but Samsung would never do that as that space in other models does serve a purpose. IT wouldn't be far to foreign markets to have the SD card in the US one and not theirs and it would mean a redesign on the phone that already has a model that works across the globe.
