@@Ryotsu2112 actually it’s cuz iPhones don’t hold the highest amount of phones in total but they are the highest sold in the higher price market, Meaning android’s may sell more than iPhones but it’s due to the budget phone models, like the cheap Walmart , virgin mobile, metro pcs, cricket wireless, boost mobile and free government phones given away to millions each year which also explains why the most used android version has always been a 3-4 year old version Like now that android 13 is just coming out, the actual most widespread android version is still android 9-10 and that’s due to most of those cheap budget phones come with those old versions and they typically never get upgraded to the newer version If most people android users actually had the most current Samsung Galaxy phones and pixels then buy shear default the use of the current android version would also be more widespread since those more expensive flagship phones come with the newer android version pre installed and get the next update at least

As a Korean, I'm surprised no western tech KZbinr mentions the fact that the water drop 💧 hinge design in Oppo Find N was stolen tech from Samsung. The reason Samsung chose to go w/the current U hinge design instead of the crease-less💧 hinge was due to the advantages of water resistance, Flex mode, & overall durability. By Sherisse Pham, CNN Business (Hong Kong) Updated 7:11 AM EST, Fri November 30, 2018 "Samsung's latest bendable screen technology has been stolen and sold to two Chinese companies..." There was already prototypes of Samsung Foldables w/ 💧 drop hinge/no gap, going back to 2014. They r working on water/dust resistant, less visible crease hinge that closes w/o the gap.

I really do have to say thank you for these videos, Zack. Since there's so much overlap for smartphone internals and performance, a lot of my purchases are based on your tests! I loved the idea of folding phones from the start, but didn't end up going for one until I saw the flip 3 survive all the dirt and gravel you put it through (I took mine to the beach and the hinge is still a whisper). The inner screen has some minor damage, but thanks to your videos I knew what I was getting into with the softer inner screen and to be perfectly honest the thing has exceeded my expectations in terms of staying alive despite my daily abuse. SO I guess my point is this: Thank you for making all of this info freely available for so many years. Even if a particular phone isn't the most durable, it's really nice to know in advance exactly what I'm getting into, and not end up with a bending iPhone 6.

I've got myself an ROG6 end of last year... last for 3 months and in repair for 6 months for a motherboard problem, so last week, I've got the bad news that it died. And with additional money, I've got myself a Z Fold 4. Been using it for a week now.
@MattisProbably2 жыл бұрын
I actually think the design is fine, no need to change something that works :) Personally I like the Fold line because the foldable screen tech is fascinating to me. And while the screen *is* soft and relatively easily damaged, their engineers really did their best to protect it when it's not in use! What's keeping me from buying one is a) the price and b) the almost square aspect ratio. Since most of the videos I watch are in 16:9 this thing us useless to me as a "tablet". I'd just get the Tab S8 Ultra instead to be totally honest with you! Which is a device that actually fought back during your testing, so I guess that almost earns it a spot in my backpack 😅

My major reasons are 1 yea the soft screen, i would scratch that so quickly. 2 i think when folded its kind ugly and clunky. 3 probably the biggest reason the creasing that happens in the middle that these tests don’t show. I kinda just accepted that basically having a pocket sized glass rectangle that doesn’t fold is just a better idea. Maybe when holographic or projection tech hits the phone market we can have bigger screens
@Jollepoker2 жыл бұрын
Hey Zack. I noticed in this video during the bend test, there was one dimension that you skipped bending from. Does it still survive the bend test if you flip the phone 90 degrees while open? That is, so that you are bending more like you would a normal phone and not like trying to bend two phones away from each other.
@vanskis76182 жыл бұрын
it wont bend that way in daily use anyway

I know of several people, myself included, who have sat on our phone thus bending it this way. The phone I am on right now as I leave this comment is actually broken because it's bent this way, although I have a feeling heat player a big part in warping my phone to look like a horizontal coma.

I dropped it in some mud without a case on it over the winter, got all kinds of dirty. I brought it inside and (with some hesitance) ran it under the faucet for a moment or two, opening and closed it a little, dried her off and she's fine. After 1 year I need to change the stock screen protector out, the one it came with has a crack along the crease. No damage though. Great phone, in my opinion.

1st, as always an awesome video, thank you for the continued great content reviewing durability. 2nd, regarding the latest Gorilla Glass, it seems to me that advances in glass these days seem to be focused more on shatter resistance than scratch resistance. While I love the scratch testing, may I suggest adding a calibrated drop test to the mix to test shatter resistance? Perhaps a rig that puts the phone on the desk while progressively larger steel bearings are dropped from a fixed height onto the screen?
@jg82632 жыл бұрын
on further thought, one additional thought/request. I love your tech content, especially things like when you installed the elevator, demonstrated the stair climbing wheelchair, all the phone things, etc and am a huge fan (I literally watch your reviews before purchasing any new phone). That being said, I love your channel for TECH content, and do not come here for political commentary slipped into videos. I say this as an independent who has voted for pretty much every political party, and I split tickets all the time, so this is not an issue of me disagreeing or agreeing with your views, but rather that I (and I am sure others) enjoy this channel specifically as it is a Tech channel, and not a political one, and a place to get away from the constant bombardment of politicized content out there. I fully support your right to voice your political views, and if you were to start a new channel expressly to discuss social and political matters, I would be a subscriber for sure. I simply feel that politics has invaded every aspect of entertainment and I would rather that I can view some form of entertainment that leaves the politics behind for a few minutes. I am sure there are many people who enjoy your tech content but do not share your political views, and by expressing those in the videos, you risk alienating that part of your audience. Perhaps you may feel that is no great loss, but I feel that access to great tech information should be for all people, and not politicized. Just as a thought exercise, can you imagine if the show How It's Made inserted politics into it? Regardless of your choices in this regard, please continue to make good tech content. Thank you for hopefully taking the time to consider this input.

Nah ball bearings don't really show how a phone would do if dropped. When a phone is dropped the impact gets dispersed across the whole phone and the environment, while ball bearings would just concentrate in one specific part of the device and would drill holes into the screen instead

So I purchased the Z fold 3 just under a year ago, last week it developed the "Black line of Death". Why isn't there more discussion about this which is a massive design flaw in this model which should be highlighted resulting in a recall? On purchase the instructions and guidance state not to remove the inner screen protector BUT over time the material used becomes brittle and starts damaging the inner screen when pressed resulting in bubbling and eventual screen damage. The inner right-hand screen then ceases to respond to touch. This is a known issue that isn't but should be discussed and highlighted to protect potential buyers.

You forget that Samsung's foldable is actually more durable than a regular phone. This is partly because the hinge is made of hardened steel, which is incredibly resistant to attacks. In addition, the aluminum of Samsung's foldables is also hardened. The paint also gets scratches, but the aluminum itself is more robust. Many ordinary smartphones today are made of ultra-thin aluminum or light steel, which can easily break, especially at the point between the battery and the camera. With the exception of the main display, Samsung foldables are one of the toughest smartphones I have ever held in my hands (I am currently using the Fold 3 and will soon switch to the Fold 4)
