Note 10+ was the best Samsung. The pen slot , more memory and SD card slot. I had the s22 ultra and , I’d rather the pen stay in the phone slot

There's no slot for the S-Pen now so I'm not sure what you're talking about there's just a slot on the back of the case. So either way nothing's really going to change. But if they're contemplating doing what they did with the SE which is remove the S-Pen compatibility all together, then that's just straight up ridiculous. Half of the functions with the new AI system that they have are good because of how it integrates drawing with the s pen. And to be honest, If worst came to worst, I don't mind adding a couple millimeters to the thickness of the phone to make sure it has s pen compatibility. Getting it a couple millimeters slimmer is not nearly as important, not to mention the slimmer it gets the more likely it is to break when you bend it, so I don't think that slimmer is necessarily better as the huawei phone has demonstrated with its trifold slim design and how easy it is to crack.

I have a fold 4 and i am very very happy with it. I'm honestly completely fine with it just having more and more processing power and battery. I already use it in place of a laptop with a keyboard and mouse hooked up and with the same amount of stuff open last 4-6 times longer than $500 laptop. Granted the reason I haven't upgraded is cause the improvements to me have been negligible, but yea it's a 10/10 phone I just really hope they don't end up compromising on something like battery to make it thinner

I have a fold2 and still absolutely love it. The only problem I've started having is the battery life not lasting very long. But part of that is my fault because I probably overcharged it throughout its life, rarely letting it go below 50%, which is bad for the battery.

I don't remember when Apple changed it, the Apple Pencil can magnetically attach to the side of the iPad and charge while attached. The S Pen Case has a slot for the pen and the case I use for my Fold has a hidden slot that runs along the spine. Maybe Samsung can create their own version of NFC charging as the pen is in a slot or clipped to the back of the phone. But I will say this, if Samsung loses the S Pen on the Fold 7, then I won't buy it.

S-pen have never been inside z folds. So it should be storage outside of z fold. So it doesn't matter that much if it gets bigger. I think the biggest headache for Samsung is not digitizer . It is upcoming OnePlus open2 which is coming with huge upgrade in Q1 2025

The fold 7 is just the SE released in Korea, but it removes s pen support and the fold 6 is much slimmer then the fold 4 and that's for sure.

the only reason I went for the Z fold 6 instead of Huawei or something else was the cover with the included pen. There are several other very good alternatives with much better cameras, but the S-pen kept me with Samsung... It was a very hard decision, but if they take that away then it will be an easy decision to choose another brand with a better camera and in the meantime maybe others come up with a pen that is attached to the device in one way or other (maybe built in holder or in a cover... I hope Huawei is reading this...

Funny about the divide between S-pen users & not users. I've had Notes since Note 3 & have never used the S-pen (actually lost it from my Note 8 & never noticed). Switched to Z-fold 5 & am not thrilled. The front screen is WAY too narrow to use comfortably & it's clunky & heavy. SO wished I'd just upgraded the Note & spent my money on a Samsung Tab. I've actually switched back to my Note 8 for regular use & keep the z-fold at home to use on wi-fi. The only things I love about the z-fold are the camera & that you can actually see it to use outside. Otherwise ... meh ... oh it does have great batter life tho.

The short answer is yes. Unfortunately, if Samsung had not waisted time on, narrow is better design, they would have already been through this transition. With that said, they need time on the software side to be ready for this new spen design change. I do like the change since a larger pen is nicer to work with. And now that they are in the right direction on pen my only concern is that they will try to mess with triple fold design rather than stay with the correct direction of how Huawei did it and how they were going to do it until Huawei did it first.

Pen slot is better in the protection case not inside the phone. There you loose valuable battery capacity and what not . I am using the fold 5 with such a case. Why would we spend $2,000 on the fold six when you know that there's an SE out there, just unavailable in your country. I honestly don't know what Samsung was thinking when they made an exclusive to Korea and China. They have just as many customers in the US as they do at home in Korea so I don't really understand why they decided to shaft everybody in the US who bought the six expecting it to be the latest edition only to have the SE come out months later and smack them in the face. The second that they released the SE sales of the six immediately plummeted to almost nothing as one should have expected. So if they're wondering why The sales of the six have done so terribly, it shouldn't be too hard for them to figure out. All they had to do was release it everywhere, or not release it at all, and the sales of the six would have remained steady. But since they choose to do neither of those things, they're in the predicament that they are in.

Samsung deliberately kept the front display narrow knowing full well that customers were screaming for a larger display, which the Chinese competition was already bringing to market. Instead of listen to the market they opted to sit it out and put out a foldable that was basically another fold 5 with better processor etc. Its lazy, but apple does the same thing every year, so Samsung is copying Apple trend. It's sad and people need to let them know how wrong it is. The z fold 7 will be the fold SE with a new label.

@AchillesNYC That's true but it's nothing new for Samsung. Every year they put out the exact same foldable with just a different processor and they still sell a decent amount of them. The difference this year was that they put out the SE only a couple months later which halted the sales of the sixes everywhere, because nobody was willing to spend $2,000 to buy an inferior phone to one that was already put out by Samsung just not in their country. Had they not released the SE than I'm sure their sales of the six would have been similar to the sales of the five or the four. But the reason why the six tanked so badly in comparison was because of the SE release which pissed everybody off even more, and made it so you couldn't even buy a six anymore and feel like you had the most updated phone available from Samsung. The essentially released the fold seven two months after releasing the fold 6. And who in their right mind is going to pay top dollar for an already outdated phone?
