6:20 I wouldn't recommend it because there's lots of ways for this to go wrong, but in theory if the battery is discharged all the way down to 0V* it should be relatively inert, and so damaging it during removal wouldn't be a big deal. *To be clear, I don't mean 0%. Completely discharging lithium batteries is very bad for them so battery management systems consider the battery to be at 0% when the cell voltage is much higher than 0V. It doesn't really matter if you damage a dead battery that you're removing anyway, but since you're doing something very non standard you need to manually discharge the battery with an appropriate discharge resistor or other dumb load.

If you think Apple soldering RAM to their motherboards to avoid users from upgrading/fixing it was bad, they are now doing this with the hardrive as well. Look up their new Mac Mini... And what they do on their iPhone/iPad is being pushed to their computers as well. They are disabling repairs with software. For example, you replace the display in a system with an original part from another Apple device, the part is original, made by Apple just from another device, even the same model, and it will not work. Or they will disable things in the operating system on purpose to leave a crippled device. They disable things with software to avoid users from repairing devices. How much more anti-consumer can Apple be is mind-blowing.
