Enjoyed a lot watching this video. There are everything in this video all the characters, adventure, comedy, love, tradition even tragedy. I like the characters of the patriarch. He looks like a western movie hero, and also his wife so humble. I like the spirit of the old lady who visited the mountains after 30 years.

Just loved this. I just loved the old man! Very interesting & beautiful place I too love the mountains. I pray he lives a long healthy peaceful life with and his wife & sons. I wonder if his sons have children & if they have interest to be a shepherd.? Gods blessings over them all.

This reminds me a lot of the country where I come from. We have a old house in a village where once my fathers family lived. In it was living only 1 person, the last resident. He said to me that to be a shepherd is very good but he can not stands being lonely, he has a wife a twin daughters living in the nearby city, they makes visits to him only in summer, (the school vacation days). Few years ago, he could not stand it and sold his sheep and moved out to the city, last thing I heard from my father is that he works in some factory, I can imagine how hard that transition is to him. He may be lucky to be near his family, but to be honest younger people today do not feel the same. In my opinion, this old shepherd sons will with 95% certainty sell their sheep and move out from the mountains to purchase "happiness" in nearby urban areas. The sad truth is that younger generations, the moment they see or hear about the "comfort lives" in the cities, have difficulties staying in the mountains. The women especially, and without the females the males can not stand isolation. We exchange our freedom for comfort. In a mountains a shepherd has a animals to take care of and in the cities you are living in the herd and the shepherds take care of you, that is the people who own the city... freedom should be untradeable. P.S: I do not even want to begin with commenting which lifestyle and food is healthier. Id like to try that milk,...

Sheep cheese is very good. We have a friend who milks a hundred sheep to make cheese and sells the yarn from the fleeces. We help with the skirting at shearing. Nice to look at all that wool and rough grade it. That grey horse seems a handful. Too bad there isn't a happy medium to make it a little easier so the sons can stay shepherding. Hope he doesn't get too bored. A few trips up the mountain good idea. At least to clear his lungs.

Cheers, well done, these hard-working folks are to be marveled @! My uncle back in the 60s had over 300 sheep in the highlands (Scotland) I was a young lad but I recall the hard work it took, these Georgian folks are simply awesome !

I love watching these video's. The story is real, no made up story line, people are not actors. I also hope the boys take good care of their father. It must be quite an adjustment from the mountains to the city life. God bless him on his new journey with his family close.

A true and heart touching story of a brave shepherd, as this is his story of descendency, so is the story of everyone of us. We are born to die, we get young to become old. As Pope said. Ah! Since alas frail beauty must decay.

Hard and harsh lives of shepherds...I wish if they could be accompanied by their wives time to time coz isolation for human character is not so good....however each n every culture has their own ways.... SLICE I do follow your lovely videos which brings many glimpses of different shapes of lives, cultures and much much more....it gives and reach to those hearts at least from distance and get wider knowledge about them.Appreciate your honest and wonderful pieces of work, they are real Artistry ....❤️🌻😊

Wholesome ! Reminded me of the shepherds of Gujarat, India :) Especially when he was singing ! They are as proud of their culture n traditions! The only difference is Gujrati n Rajasthani shepherds who are called Bharwad n Ahir community are Pure Vegetarians n cows are their Mother cow :) they keep Sheep, Goat n Camel too but all for wool n milk products Only.

Now Shamuca is going home. He’s getting depressed because he’s not among his sheep anymore. His depression is going to make him getting drunk again and again. He would be lucky if he gets to 70 years old. He should have stayed with his sons until he died. He would live at least 90 years old

Already things have changed so much, the cheese is not matured inside an inside out sheep skin anymore, plastic is used instead, resulting in an inferior product that is more cream cheese than the traditional goudda cheese of the Caucasian mountains.
