Just look at how big the angle is between his lead leg and his trailing leg at the point of greatest separation (seen from the side). It's much greater even that those of the other world-class runners he's running with. He's getting a lot more distance/stride than the other runners, and it's largely forward rather than upward.

I would like this format finish going back the way it was, meaning finishing the race at the stadium with one last lap to go.

Mr. Kamau is very strong. If he concentrates on his training, and avoids partying alot like he does, he'll be great!

Wow, Samuel Wanjiru is so small! I hear the first, third, fourth, and fifth placed runners of this grueling race were the smallest men in the whole field. I remember sitting on the couch watching this live...

Those runners are the mighty mites of distance running. Small in stature, big in heart ♥ and ability.

it is the ethiopians that are the marathon masters! but kenyans freakin rule too! I loooove distance running - I like all the track too, but there is nothing more inspiring than a marathon!

I mean does this "tve1" channel broadcast in HD? 'Cause I got a PDTV capture of this race in my computer, and it doesn't look as sharp and clear as this one. And of course grabacion must be in HD...

This guy is still 22 yr old!! He feels it's possible to make sub 2 Hr record in five years (Wiki) He may or may not. From what I see now, it's pretty convincing.

I think so too. I think he could have run 1:55. Such a tragic waste his death was. RIP
@randyevermore9323 Жыл бұрын
Me too. Sammy ran 26:41 for 10,000 meters on the track *when he was 18 years old.* That's faster than Eliud ever ran 10,000 meters. And 17 years later, it's STILL the world junior record. Eliud was faster than Sammy over 1,500m and 5,000m, but Sammy was stronger than Eliud over the longer distances.

Kenyans have better range and a greater number of athletes, that's for certain, but the ethiopians chose a distance and simply dominate. The 10,000 meters is owned by Ethiopia. That being said Wanjiru is an amazing talent. It's a damn shame they couldn't spell his name right on television.

He ran a great race, too. To run 2:07 in that heat and humidity is incredible. Sammy Wanjiru was just the best marathoner in the world at that time.
