It is a tough process, but it looks like you got through it on your own terms. Good for you Samuel! I'm glad that you're happy and able to be yourself. ;) Also, what you said is very true. Most of us suffer in silence and don't really have anyone to talk to about this personal stuff. Thank God for KZbin!! haha Cheers

I was shocked and sad to see that in 2017 kids still go through this ordeal of acceptance in school and family. I'm glad your family supported you, but what you felt was what I felt growing up in the 70s in a South American Catholic Macho country. No one should be subjected to this. But I can say that as you grow older, things will get better. Good luck
@SamuelKarlsson7 жыл бұрын
Dale Cooper I know right😪 sadly I know a lot of people who are afraid of coming out just because they don't think they will/won't have any support from friends and family. You would think that in 2017 things would be different

Samuel Karlsson Thank you ever so much for this coming out story..I came out in my Junior year of US, it wasn't a joyous time for me. Sure, I felt that reality of knowing of WHOM I am. The certain amount of PRIDE, didn't come out to my mother till I was 25. Dad was dead at age 19 he an alcoholic, her a extremely hateful woman. They didn't raise me, but my grandparents did. You are a very handsome young man, intelligent. Be the best that life offers you. And forgive yourself from the mistakes one makes. Hugs sent your way. John R Indiana PEACE!

My parents still think its a phase and that i can change my sexuality. :( I suffered a lot when i had to pretend i liked girls and had to date them, but now i'm sick and tired of that. I'm glad to know there are others like me. Be always proud of who you are!
@SamuelKarlsson7 жыл бұрын
lol, wait until they see you parading with a pride flag alongside your partner 40 years later, "its just a phase". Keep doing what you do! Have a great night
@Vampirz27 жыл бұрын
Thank you babe. Even if i could i wouldn't change my sexuality for nothing (how could i? The greek gods are all coming out nowadays :D). Most importantly: I was born gay and i'm proud of that, it will obviously never change and my parents are slowly realizing it. I'm really proud of being gay and seeing ppl like Wentworth Miller, Colton Haynes or Gus Kenworthy coming out is such a huge inspiration for me and for all LGBT young people. I know someday i will have a husband and kids! Hope u can accomplish that as well.
@SamuelKarlsson7 жыл бұрын
Rod Litch Exactly! Gus and Colton are huge insipid for me too😄
@Vampirz27 жыл бұрын
My story is very similar to theyr stories. There was a time where i had to pretend i was straight and date girls, and it was so depressing and hurtful. I remember both Colton and Gus saying they cried and took pills after being with girls, and that's exacly what i felt. :( I'm so much more relieved now! Some people still don'I understand that this is not a phase. We will never be with someone of the opposite sex because being gay it's who we are and we will always be that away. I wish you all the happiness in this world Samuel and i hope you fight the right man to be the father of you're kids. :) Much love

My advise is to tell siblings and friends first before parents because if all goes wrong (which rarely happens), there are people to support you, and with siblings, they can protect you when you tell your parents. Why it has to be so difficult and why we have to face so much hate... I want to come out to my dad, but I'm afraid how it will affect him. I love my parents so so so much and I think they love me too, they are my everything and we are really close and my dad is one of my best friends. Even though my mum knows about me we've never talked about it after I came out and I think she is still disapproving because of the society and the disapproval which might bring to the family and my family is quite respected one. Thankfully, I don't live there. London is where I can be myself. And if I can just tell my parents that I love them and as long as we stay together and true to each other, it doesn't matter what hate we get or not. I honestly believe that shared Love is stronger than hate... Thank you for the video and sorry for speaking my mind. As Troye sais "I am tired of this place, I hope people change"

Had no idea I was gay until I was 24 and still did not come out till I was 27. I had friends who were both male and female throughout my school years. No one ever had a clue, was never outed. Biggest challenges back in my younger days was AIDS or the Black Death so You Tube would have never helped. Glad I'm still alive these days and nowadays being out is not a big deal to me. I wish it could have been better but at least I'm still alive. Best of luck!!!!!

Sam, thanks for sharing something so personal. This might be a bit long but it's a serious question/concern. Though I think the situation has improved from when I came out 30 years ago, it is still hard. It is still scary. It is sad that so many kids are still crying themselves to sleep and having to hide who they are. It is a huge burden that kids have to bear. Like you, I know that first hand. Since you are so open to sharing, I have a personal question for you. I don't have an answer or a solution, but I would like to know your opinion. What would make it easier to come out? Is there anything your family or friends could have done that would have encouraged you to come out sooner? Part of the reason I bring this up is that I have heard from people that were on the brink of killing themselves. When they did come out, most of their friends and family would say something like "oh, yeah, we knew...we don't care...we love you anyway", etc. Don't get me wrong, it's great that they had a positive coming out experience and were accepted and loved. But I just can't get over all the years of suffering, and fear, and hiding, and lying that some kids have to go through that might not have been necessary. Thank you in advance for sharing any thoughts you have.

@beachesboy19947 жыл бұрын
Kind of you to take time to answer. I wouldn't call your accent weird. I was just trying to pin it down, since guessing where a person with an accent (for me) might be from is a hobby. I was a reference librarian in a public library in a town with a large university. Every so often a student would come in with an English/Australian/South African/New Zealand accent and I would amuse myself by saying to them, 'Do I detect an Italian accent?' Their confusion amused me greatly. Perhaps I am evil.

Thank you Samuel - what can I say - I used Lockdown to come out - it meant I couldn't face anyone. It took me 38 years to come out, I know those tears - how did it take so long ? I never married though and I suspect a few of my gender have - I came out last Feb and never felt so relieved - I can be me now.
