Was just in Colonia last February so was nice to be reminded of it once again in your videos. Saw the same procession of drums going down the street one night. Not sure if it happens nightly or not. However, it was a precursor to what we saw a few days later in Montivideo and their "Carnival". One of the most impressive events I've ever seen!. The entire event took 6 hours and lasted till after 2 in the morning! The costumes and energy were fantastic. Apparently that type of thing is a pretty big deal in Uruguay. Was so fortunate to have seen it!

There is a history behind the chivito. It is said that long time ago in Punta del Este a tourist from somewhere in South America, got into a restaurant and asked them if they had "chivito". So the chef made up the sandwich. They say that the lady loved the sandwich, so "a chivito" was born!
