SC used to come out late at night on Adult Swim and I have fond memories of sneaking in an episode here and there when I was sure my mom was out cold. Obviously this meant I didn't see every episode in order. I can only speak for myself but for me I think that experience really colored my perception of the show. It was a "You had to be there" moment in history. Just as I know a lot of people love Sean of the Dead, and if I had actually seen it back in high school when it came out I'm sure I would've loved it too and it probably would've been apart of my personality. However, I didn't see it until my late 20s and... yeah. It's good but not as awesome as I'd been led to believe. This might be similar to what you guys are going through with this show. I wouldn't call it nostalgia, I'd call it enjoying a unique experience that's difficult to replicate for a new audience.

I totally agree with you guys about episode 7, I feel like samurai champloo episodes have a lot of variation in quality. but in general I think it gets stronger as it goes on 🙏🙏

I will say episode 7 feels a lot like “Venus waltz” which I didn’t feel sad about the ending either. I need more time to sympathize with the characters than just one episode. But The OST is what carries a lot of these episodes for me Rip Nejabes

I think I agree with you guys that my fav Samurai Champloo episodes are the comedy episodes. And believe it or not, there's even funnier stuff coming.

The guy was a man and samurai, so he can have one 1 wife and multiple women on the side. Only his wife and kids from her would inherit anything from the dad (his weapons, titles, property etc..) while the other women and extra kids don't get anything. Remember this late 19th century japan, japan is finally coming out isolation and soon become empire of japan in 20th century. So Japan was changing a lot when it comes to society, trade, religion, and morality etc..
