Is it just me or Does SNK have the best lore in fighting games? Sure, there's Guilty Gear & Blazblue but SNK pulled this stuff back when it was really difficult (or even necessary) to come up with a storyline in this genre.

This is great!! I’ve never seen a channel devoted to telling the full stories of my favorite video games,I’ve always enjoyed fighting games. Shodown is my favorite and I wish it could get a great anime,I’ve seen 2. 1 bad 1 good but this was so groundbreaking it should be given the respect of Street Fighter, my2nd fav and KOF/Fatal Fury is 3rd. Hopefully we can get some Terry Bogard from you. Love the intricate work you put in 😎

They dont tie together, samurai shodown pulls from alot of Japanese lore/mythology as well as ninja scrolls. But thats basically what ninja scrolls is a story based on another story. I find that shit interesting myself.

I know that Amakusa in SamSho is a fictional character based off the real Amakusa Shirō, but it still feels wrong how the did his character to turn to the help you f demons when he was willing to die for God. It comes off like an attack on the actual person or could just be a coincidence, I’m still new to Samurai Shodown and it’s lore but given Japan’s sour relations with Catholicism I’m not sure. Other than that good video!

What I find funny is Haohmarus rival is Genjuro but with Haohmaru being based off Musashi, shouldn't he rival Ukyo (who is based off Kojiro Sasaki)? Couldn't find a real life persona for Genjuro who even had anything to do with Musashi..

In the original game Ukyo was Haohmaru's rival but that idea was dropped in Shodown II when Genjuro was introduced.

To be fair the real life figures that the characters are based on can often be pretty loose anyway. As an example Musashi famously dual-wielded but in SamSho it’s Jubei that does that, not Haohmaru. They play it very fast and loose because ultimately regardless of what they make take inspiration from the characters are still original fictional creations at the end of the day.
