11:50 Unfortunately, these Relish pickups look like they are using a proprietary baseplate for the pickups (no side mounting tabs). That said, any pickup modifications would limit the Player to only Relish brand pickups. 😐

A quick google search tells me that Relish Guitars has gone bankrupt and shut down. I guess no one needed those quick change pick ups.
@edo.1648Күн бұрын
They sold the quick pickup tech to at least one other guitar company. You can get guitars with the same pickup swap tech from "Cream T" in the UK. Their guitars are excellent too (own one of the older offset models without the pickup swap and it's awesome).

I think Samurai Guitarist or another big KZbinr recently made a video about Relish - like in the last couple of months, as I recall. Sounds like they’re aiming to relaunch Relish for business again. But you are correct that Relish was not in business producing any guitars for several years.

That Hendrixian chord is a 7th with a #9. That Relish guitar kind of reminds me of the banana yellow BC Rich solid body model that I was sold in June 1997. It's in the offset aspects of this guitar's shape. The novelty of being able to swap out pickups does have its appeal. I would probably enjoy it a whole lot more than coil splitting.

Glen Fricker used one of these to prove that pickups don't change tone, except you can tell the difference between single coil and humbucker.

@catmandoodoo790321 сағат бұрын
The main reason Relish went bust is because you have to trim the pickup wire so short that you can never use the pickup in anything else. Unless you want to get into splicing.
@mikeomatic990518 сағат бұрын
I think only licensed shops like Sweetwater could put in non-Relish pickups too, at least initially. (I know you could get third party harnesses, but that’s not a great business model.)
@catmandoodoo790318 сағат бұрын
@ yeah, that sounds familiar. There was one near me here in the U.K. Sold a package of pickups in the harnesses for about the same price as one of the Trinity guitars. Was a bit daft. I actually think Trogly got stung badly in this video.
@joermnycКүн бұрын
Those push out pretty easy, maybe too easy? There are slightly better swap-out options out there from new European companies, where you twist a knob on the back of the pickup to unlock it and then pull out the pickup, so there’s no worries about playing too hard and “whoops”.

That's a GREAT tip that I try giving to friends who've just started with guitar. Learn the 'regular' chords, then practice switching between them, and just try LIFTING different fingers and you'll usually end up making a legitimate different chord, which adds variation and makes you sound WAY better than you are! Like strum an Am, then lift your INDEX finger, and suddenly you're playing an Asus2. Or strum an E, lift your Ring Finger, and you're playing an E7! And you'll also be practicing 'pull-offs' & 'hammer-ons' without even realizing it!

I think this guitar proves that people just don't care about hot swappable pickups. I can't see doing it any better than this, and it still looks useless for 99.99% of guitarists and situations

There are some compelling options in Squier's Classic Vibe range that fit comfortably within that budget, then you get into stuff like Yamaha Pacificas and Gretsches so on and so forth. It's amazing what's out there for relatively little money these days

Personally I like the looks of it, plus, it seems that it would be very comfortable to play. I just don't see a big need for having quick-change pickups. Put a P90 in the neck socket and a 7~8k PAF in the bridge and just enjoy it.

U do what I use to do. Try making ur guitar strap shorter so the body of it centers a little higher. Pull the guitar over to the right as well. So it will sit a little bit higher and to the right. Will be much easier playing blackend. Sorry I wanted to tell ya that because I just picked up guitar again this summer and that’s what I discovered for myself. I started in 5th grade. Fell out of practice for a looong time right around 18 years old (37 now). Completely obsessed with guitar all over again. I have to play every single day or my whole week gets ruined 😅😩😭😂❤️
