ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
Hi. I'm Aki, a minimalist who is a school teacher living in a small village in Japan.
Today, I would like to share with you the best morning routine ever compared to my past morning routines.
In Japanese kanji, morning is written like this(朝)
If I break this kanji apart, it means 10 months and 10 days.
In Japanese culture, we say, babies are born within the 10th month of the 10th day.
So, in other words, morning represents a new birth.
If I think of it that way, it’s like we are reborn each morning and have a new start every day.
Don’t you think it’s important how you spend your mornings each day?
Well then, without further adieu, let’s get started.
WHO AM I:
Welcome to samurai matcha journey! I'm Aki, a minimalist, kimono style school teacher in Japan. I make videos about my usual life in really country side of Japan. You can enjoy beautiful scenery, learn about Japan, and pick up some interesting lifestyle tips.
PRODUCTS IN THIS VIDEO:
Many people have been asking me how to buy things that I use,
so I tried to find products that is the same or similar to my items on amazon in the USA and JPNAN. (Please ask yourself, “Does this spark joy?“ before buying it.)

Hi Aki, my husband and I watched this video, he is so impressed about your morning routine! He got up at 5am this morning, spend one hour cleaning our shower and toilet! Then he did yoga and walking, also he picked up the garbage from the park! Thank you so much to inspire him!

I've always been "a night owl", but since I forced myself to get up early (usually 05-06:00), make the bed and go for a 30-60min walk I've started to feel a whole lot better. Proper routines is really really important, even though I've neglected it all my life until I discovered the worth.

Hi Aki, I get up at 6:00 am, feed the dogs , have fruit for breakfast and then drive to my aquafit training at the pool. 1 hour later, I walk my dogs in a small forest for about 40 minutes. Then I tend to my garden. Since I am retired, I enjoy my active and natural lifestyle. I thoroughly enjoyed your video and give you thanks for it. Blessings from Canada.

Konnichiwa, Aki san. Watashi wa Canadajin eto I am 60 years old ~ but people ALWAYS tell me I look 40. Just by chance, I have been doing this routine for decades, simply because it felt good. A teacher in my high school in 1979 encouraged us to contribute to a charity but I preferred to buy shoes (!!) so I committed to picking up a bag of trash every day, instead. Over the years, I have done this, on average, 5 days a week. Imagine what I have picked up in 43 years! Friends laugh at me when I clean up beaches on vacation or when I stop the car, jump out, put on my gloves, and clean up the road side. I am a flight attendant and I do this on my layovers, all over the world. It is my gift to the planet and I feel great about it. Like you, I hear the items calling me - ha! I admire your choices and consider us kindred spirits ~ but you might laugh (or cry!) at my (ima wa, totemo ooki) shoe collection. Daigaku de Nihongo wo benkiyoshimasu. Arrigato gozaimasu. Your videos inspire me! Is fall your favourite season?!! ha.

I lived in Japan for a year and I loved the cleanliness of the culture. I prefer to clean at night before I go to bed. My house and body are clean so I feel that I get a better night's rest and when I wake up it gives me more time in the morning to workout. I love a cold shower to open my sense of being and usually helps with my alertness. This is a fantastic video for someone who wants to be more organized and productive.

Hello from Brazil Aki! KZbin just recently recommended me your channel and i am fascinated! Learning about your lifestyle in a small village in Japan, with all those beautiful and refreshing good habits. That fills me with so much joy! It feels just like a child who first discovered its life's dream! I am struggling to find my own identity in this world, and watching myself watching you, i could see how i was in peace for the first time in a long time. This is definitely a direction, at least a hint of what i really seek but struggles to find in this world. That is why, i wish to leave my sincere gratitude to you. I like to say that a really good professor is the one which its own way of living overflows with teachings. So is life. So is you. Thank you, really.

Recently i noticed that the best routine for me included all of this things you are doing for you, but i never had the courage because i thought it was too much for me. But, I was doing it step by step: i started waking up at 6, and cleaning naturally, and after that i like to drink a strawberry smoothie.. I love your lifestyle. thank you for doing this videos, now i feel like this is a signal for believing in myself.

Ah, thank you so much for the insight into how you start your days! I get really inspired by morning, night, or day-to-day routine videos cause they make me feel like if you can do it, I can do it too!! I really appreciated how you said at the end to do what feels right for you, as well, as a lot of youtuber who do routines don't say things like that and expect people to follow their routines closely. I think I'll try to incorporate some of your things into my own routine that I want to start, like the matcha making (maybe not the tea ceremony part yet :)), taking a walk, cleaning, and working out/stretching! *IM AN AUTHOR* I have been researching, testing and optimising my daily routine for about 8 years as part of my work *THIS ROUTINE IS ABOUT AS PERFECT AS YOU WILL GET* Personally, I would not eat, one meal a day helps. Id walk before cleaning, the red light of sunrise is very beneficial, apart from that its PERFECT. Minimalist house, no clutter, sunlight, movement, cold shower, cleaning, ceremony [making tea], caffeine, gratitude, exercise, yoga, to-do today list ON PAPER, NO digital screes or music/podcasts for the first hour.

Love Macha and I even learned to do this beautiful tea ceremony. Matcha is a great pick-me-up and extremely beneficial for the heart and the arteries. I also adapted the routine to not only clean up my house daily but also the environment I live in daily early mornings when I am out for a walk with my dog and do stretching and Qigong. Lately I always create a to-do-list and since it somehow feels like meditation I use an old fashioned notebook with small pieces of paper and I pray, say thank you to our creator. I feel more comfortable, protected and also way more connected to the world around me than. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with this routine but I do my best, remembering it should be beneficial and not stress me out. Thank you for sharing.

I have just discovered your channel and I love it. Your mornings are very inspiring... I think I might be able to introduce a few of these ideas right away. Like matcha - - I can do that. I also love a morning walk. If I get outside early it sets me up for the whole day. Thanks again!

I get up very early in the morning and get out and walk with my dog for a good hour and a half. Like you, Margaret in Sydney, it absolutely sets me up for the whole day. If for any reason I don’t manage to get outside, I definitely feel the difference in my energy and my whole mindset. My early morning walks are a real necessity for me. I’m gonna try replacing my pre walk cup of coffee with a cup of matcha instead, starting from tomorrow morning. Keep up your morning walks. Sending very best wishes from England.

I really like this routine! Parts of your routine are the same as mine. Every morning I make my bed, do yoga and meditation, take a walk, eat breakfast, write in my journal, take a warm bath, write out my to-do list, and write on my computer/work on my writing project (my job). I'm going to see where I can get myself to do more cleaning than making my bed. That would help me out. Thanks for sharing! I enjoy your videos. 🙂 Gassho, Julie (Shaku Ni Jun-ri)

I do a to do list it helps when you feel overwhelmed and dont know where to start. After the list is done I do one thing at a time until its done crossing off the chore is so satisfying. I need to improve my morning routine. I work till 1:00am every day so I have a hard time getting up early. If I try I can get to bed by 1:30 I can try to get up at 8:30 that would still be considered early for me then I can walk my dog who has more energy in the morning and would love to get out with me that early. Im going to try this.
