How Narcissists, Psychopaths Shot Themselves in the Foot (Ecosystem, Predator-Prey, Victimhood)

Growing awareness of narcissism and psychopathy since the 1960s makes it more difficult to prey on victims. I was the first to describe narcissistic abuse in 1995 and this launched a global movement.
Narcissists and psychopaths transitioned from hunting to virtual reality: shared fantasies that have redefined civilization in narcissistic and psychopathic terms.
The new ecosystem rewards and incentivizes narcissistic and psychopathic traits and behaviors and promotes them (axiological shift): ambition, ruthlessness, callousness, defiance, contumaciousness, Machiavellianism (manipulativeness), atomization (self-sufficiency).
This new ecosystem is binary. There are only 2 roles available: predator and prey. Your choice. This guarantees an abundance of prey - but it also promotes victimhood and paranoia which, ironically, are forms of grandiosity.
Victimhood and paranoia created an imbalance between the number of victims and the number of abusers. So, victims are now in search of abusers: they label everyone as a victimizer by redefining abuse and lowering the bar of what constitutes abuse.

I am no longer a prey, but I don't want to be a predator either, I just want to be left alone by anyone who wants to try prey on me, this includes the government! Some of us learning from our mistakes, where as narcissists/sociopaths/psychopaths won't learn from theirs. By the way theirs nothing wrong with defying authority, as no one is above the law, it's about standing up for oneself! Authority has only come about because one group of people has considered themselves to be better than others and this can only last for a limited time.

Very well put given the somewhat paradoxical nature of how this topic is presented. Self governance bears no need for authority, and a person capable of self governance will have an issue with psychopathic predatory governance. It is easy to postulate the predator/prey scenario to the likeness of animals in the wild, but it is important to remember that we are of the same species, so these dynamics cannot exist within any similar context unless we are comparing hierarchical orders within certain groups of animals of the same species. A psychopathic predatory human may quickly find themselves in immediate grave danger due to their stupidity, to think a peaceful man cannot inflict the greatest measures of violence to protect the self. This does not by any means turn the peaceful man into a psychopath or predator, but rather someone who recognizes the threat and neutralizes it before the threat neutralizes him. In terms of psychological abuse, the violence dynamic should not be present because then the peaceful man is encroaching psychopathic territory towards a likely narcissistic individual. If a group of peaceful people decides on public hangings to make examples out of abusive people and those identified as guilty of harmful government legislation, I wonder if we would need to keep a checks and balance system of how necessary it is to keep a predatory/prey balance in society. It's a good thing we're lowering the bar on what is acceptable to say now, maybe soon society will be lowering down some gallows ropes. If a group of peaceful peoples decides on it that is.

Dr. Vaknin, in a future video could you do a deep dive into the ways that co-occurring BPD and NPD manifest within one person? How does this look from the outside and how is it experienced internally? There must be so many contradictions, yet statistics tell us NPD and BPD are comorbid sometimes. @@don-eb3fj I ask because most narcissists tend to see themselves in a rather grandiose manner and want to impress themselves to others as someone to be respected, or feared. They tend to refer to themselves as apex predators. The person at the top of the food chain. When you get to know them, you realize they are just puffed up parasites. Using the poor sap, who mistook them as a credible human, as a host. They will feed off of your resources and waste your time.

Well, being in constant state of Unconditional Love and Compassion Stream is impossible even in most advanced spiritual practitioners who.literally overgrew certain brain structures to the point of thinning their skull bones. Many empaths can be undisturbed by wars around the world at the moment that are happening , being almost neutral towards the bad news. When you are really tired or sleepy or too many suffering people to deal with, you definitely can feel emotionally empty and full of yourself instead.
