Lots of negatives I'm seeing on social media about Jennifer Lopez's new album This is me...Now but also lots of good reviews! Tune in as I go through the sales and chart positioning of the album.

For jlo slow and steady is winning the race!! She’s planning her tour! Jlo is fine! I also don’t think she’s not worried about her sales! Because she’s doing independent! Due to popular demand, her tour has added 3 additional dates! So her tickets are selling, even before, general public has gotten to purchase!

Flop ? 😂 Ok! Let's go! #1 album on week sales chart, the only chart that really matters. It means people left their houses to buy your album, that shows real love for an artist. #2 film on Prime Video globally and #1 in many countries Apple concert live on top 10 Album scored green on Metacritic. Album, film and documentary critically acclaimed She invested 20 million dollars on the film and sold it to Amazon for 50 million. Tour over 50% of the tickets sold in 4 days of pre-sale. Sold out Madson Square Garden in 3 days of pre-sales. Flop? Don't even, baby. 😌

Also I saw different numbers being thrown around... took quite a bit of digging. She's doing really good in Germany, she's almost off the charts in the UK I think it was. Fingers crossed it keeps growing.

I personally loved the project just because I had gone through a break up and found the movie relatable. BUT as a jlo fan she made some crazy mistakes with this project 1. There were no hit singles on the album 2. She did an album interview with Zak saying the album was coming out in summer…the album came out over a year later after that interview. 3. The lyrics throughout were sloppy “bling bling and ring ring” 1 time 2 time I be loving you until the end of time…just sounds so amateur and unprofessional for an artist of her level. 4. The mixing was awful some songs sounded too autotuned and nothing like Jlo voice. 5. The album should have been released while there was still hype around her and Ben being back together she said that the album was done…people lost interest a year later

There was one youtuber who said something like "I'd get it if Taylor or Beyoncè did something like this, but for JLo to come out with something like this (visual-fantasy-musical supporting album) makes no sense at all". And I am like- why? Is he thinkin' that JLopez isn't ambitious nor artistic enough to make a visual album (kind of)? I get why many people not being necessarily the fans of JLo were confused with the movie and felt it was kind of out of place, but the truth fans like us I think got the message and understood where was JLo coming out from with that project. And as you say, numbers don't matter anymore- JLo already served us dozens of classic hits of multiple genres for the entire 2000s and 2010s. How many pop artists debut in their freaking 30s simultaneously competing with all those teenage or 20 y.o. artists many times beating them in multiple areas? She even phucken reinvented herself in 2011 with the whole On the Floor and Love? comeback (and even Billboard named it the best comeback of 2011) when no one was really expected from her at that point anymore besides her devoted fans. And she was still serving in her freaking 40s. The last couple of years were less fortunate for Jennifer (y'all remember Marry Me album two years ago managed to hit only #135 on Billboard 200?), and songs like Cambia El Paso deserved an international recognition but it barely scratched a few national charts with 60 million views on YT to date...but she had her big SuperBowl moment, President Inauguration performance, Hustlers and now she just released her most honest and sincere work ever. This is a truly rennesaince of her career and it's worth remembering she's celebrating 25 years this year of her debut album. You can't expect big results from her anymore. Yeah, I'd prefer rather a club album something like Love? or Dance Again from the early 2010s but she's not in her early 40s anymore and people change. I appreciate this JLo era for what it is. It's very shitty how industry and fandoms have been treating her for the last 8 years with all these culture vulture/stealing songs/stealing vocals/appropriation of the black culture accusations...I just think it really teared her reputation down. I feel like about 10 years ago it was still cool to catch up with JLo's new releases. Now many people consider it cringe and Jennifer is a running joke for them. Imagine working so hard for an entire life only to get THIS kind of treatment in the end. People really act like she isn't a walking musical/acting/dancing/businesswoman legend (yes, in all of these pools).
@Sammae
@Sammae 7 ай бұрын
I completely agree with you! This whole she cant sing, steals vocals really tarnished her and the sad thing is it's not even true. Jlos is mid-50s now and still kicking ass on stage... there's only few left now that carry that quality in performances. I'm happy she gave us this album and movie experience. I've been wanting something like this from someone but not just anyone for the longest time. I'm glad jlo was the one to do it now watch it start a trend, others will jump on it and sadly jlo won't be given the credit.

@@Prime6165 They don't even release hits anymore. Beyonce had her last hit in 2016-2017, Taylor same, unless we're counting Anti-Hero or Cruel Summer that have been pushed down our throat through the radios. Their songs and albums peak high because of their obsessive fandoms who conduct stream parties etc. The worst thing is that also award ceremonies and media are rigged and try to convince the entire world so hard that we're supposed to love Taylor and Beyonce and if we not then something is wrong with us. Their new releases aren't anything ground-breaking- media, award ceremonies and their fandoms force us to think so. The truth is general public loves Beyonce for her 2000s and early 2010s songs, not her new songs. Why people have to live in such delusion? Stop forcing these women down our throats. Y'all mad so many people hate them and have enough? Well, maybe there's a good reason to that and it's not jelousy but realisation of how US forces us to love them- it doesn't work. Grammys mean nothing, charts mean nothing. awards mean nothing- none of it matters anymore cause it doesn't reflect a taste of GP anymore, but of which fandom has the bigger capability of streaming, lol.

@@Prime6165 the whole modern idea of them being THAT thing in music industry and them being presumably the queens of modern music is really really really stretched and forced. You wouldn't say that about JLo Britney or Rihanna in the 2000s/early 2010s- them being the main pop girls was natural and it happened organically. When it comes to Beyonce and Taylor in 2020s- it doesn't really add up to anyone besides, as I previous mentioned- their fandoms, media, award ceremonies, and maybe the rest of the industry- we call it in Poland "kółko wzajemnej adoracji" (loose translation "a circle of common adoration")- they can't say bad thing at each other even when something's not right. 50 Cent lately spoke up on this nonsense regarding Beyonce and her daughter getting a Grammy award, basically for nothing. I'm waiting for Black community to cancel me (and him) for telling this.

Shes released the shit songs in the end. Its her....up to her if she wants to release this rubbish...and it not be popular. Thats her choice. J Lo is putting this on herself. She's a flop nowadays, when really she could be still successful if changed her attitude. She's had her day if she doesn't do this. This is her fault! I liked her dance hits but can't stand her as a person. She used to be a more likable person plus catchy music. Not now.

"AKA" was 41 on the UK Charts, but actually peaked at 8 on Billboard 200. So it looks like "This Is Me Now" is gonna do worse than "Brave" (2007). Shame, but it's understandable to some degree. I feel like they rushed it out too quickly ahead of the lead single "Can't Get Enough" release and didn't promote it much beyond a few adverts and KZbin. If she would have dropped this as originally planned in 2022, say a Christmas release, then I feel it would've charted higher. The only thing I'm a tad upset with her on is that she failed to include the Missy Elliott collaboration she was cooking up back in 2015 for this project. Sure it may have been dated but it would've been a treat for the old school J.Lo fans to collab with someone (especially a creative one like Ms. Demeanor) from her prime.

Music doesn't sell anymore. The industry is too saturated now. We have such short attention spans these days that we only listen to songs for a hot minute like you said, and then we move right on to the next thing. I do think we need to rethink how music should be made and commercially released these days, and let even big stars focus on creativity rather than trying to rake in numbers.

It was Jennifer’s choice to make all the songs sound out of fashion. This is me, then (which was 100% current at the time with really big memorable hits & was brilliant) didn’t sound like it was 20years old. And if you want the songs to sound uncurrent then at least make the songs catchy and make me want to rewind and play over and over again like catchy songs do. The songs are melodicly ugly. If I was a record exec I would have said where are the hits? Where are the big guns on the album? I had high expectations because I am a Big fan but I didn’t download it as I dislike the tunes, all of them. They don’t make feel good or happy when I hear them. They are unpleasing to my ears. This new album and rebirth are the only 2 albums I don’t own of JLo’s as they are not good enough sounding albums for me. I did like the movie. But again not enough to watch it a 2 nd time and I’m a fan, so something is off. I think she is a great person though. I want her to have all the happiness. And if she thinks the songs are good that’s all that matters.
