Samyang 12mm F/2 AF real world review on Fujifilm X-T4. In this video I finally get a chance to review the Samyang 12mm f2 with autofocus for the Fujifilm X system. This looks like promising option for photography and video.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I’ve been saying this for years that Fujifilm lacks a fast ultra wide angle prime lens. I’d love to see something all the way down to 8, 9 or even 10mm and paired with F/2. Great to see this lens reviewed so well, and hopefully this will nudge Fuji to consider. Fair that they’ve focused their efforts on revamping other lenses, but really feel they’ve lacked bringing a completely new dimension to their lineup.

Thanks for the review. I am considering this lens to take to Vienna this Autumn (2023) with my 18-55 (on XT5) as a wide angle option. Your video had helped me decide between the new Fuji 8/f3.5 and the Laowa 9/f2.8 and 10/f4 mm lenses and the Samyang. I think I'll get the Samyang 12/f2 AF lens.

Nice one! I have the MF old version of this, which I mainly use for astro, as I have the XF 16mm 2.8 for landscape. While it is tempting to switch to this new AF model I think I will stick bit longer to the AF as I like having a old school AF lens in my bag

@@Cagey7531 Well, I have used the 10-24 and this Samyang's 12mm predecessor (non-AF) extensively. Optically, the AF Samyang is supposedly the same lens. My experience is that the 10-24 is the better lens in terms of IQ: better corner sharpness (although center sharpness of the Samyang is great), less flare, less CA, less vignetting. All reviews of the new Samyang that I have seen (and I have viewed a lot of them) seem to confirm that this still is the case. So I would not call my comment a "wild" assumption. In fact, you assumption that my assumption is wild, is pretty wild in itself.

The Viltrox 13 1.4 is not cheaper.than the 12 Samyang. The Viltrox 13 for Fuji price on Amazon.it is 492€ and the price of Samyang 12 is 429€.

Hi, do you know this lens is working good with ronin follow focus (through usb connection)? I have a 10-24 and I need only to connect the gimbal to the camera to control the focus (without adding a motor).

I have a problem with this lens. Sometimes when I turn on the camera, or when I'm in the photo album or in the setup menu, and then go back to the shooting screen, there's a flicker (aperture opening/closing) for a few seconds and then back to normal. Have you had a similar situation?

Hello, the X-T4 is an APSC camera so 12mm on the X-T4 is the equivalent of 18mm on a full frame camera.
