+southsidesman Its because coaching in all proffesional sports today sucks it sucks it sucks it sucks it sucks. All coaches today have sticks up their asses. Few great coaches in pro sports: Popp in the NBA, Belicheck in the NFL. Sports were once beautyy because of the great coaching. OMG if you want to watch team sports watch the 1985 celtics watch the 1977 trailblazers, watch the USSR hockey teams, watch the great defense of Tom landy and the cowboys way back then. Watch how jimmy johnson built the early mid 90s cowboys not off of big bruising fat asses but a small lightweight defense that packed a massive punch. Watch the russian 5 of the detroit redwings in the 90s, watch the patriots they dont need star wide receivers or superstar runningbacks they need a fucking qb his name is tom brady and a good offensive line and stout defense. Watch the great 49ers teams led by the general Walsh they played the game of football. Watch the great steelers led by Chuck Knoll who played smashmouth defense they grinded the snot out of you played as a unit. Those are leaders those are TEAMS, that is what sports SHOULD BE. Problem is ego, stupid kids listening to gangster rap and shootem up and EGO EGO EGO EGO. They only care about ME ME ME. When you sacrifice the individual for the whole you get a thing of beauty when you make the pass to the open man instead of taking it to the hoop with 2 guys on you thats TEAM. Kids today want to be like Lebron James, Kobe, Megatron, Adrian Peterson cuz their SUPERSTARS. But ill laugh and tell you when i was growing up i looked up to bob cousy, I looked up to Larry Bird, I looked up to Anatoli Tarasov the master of Soviet Hockey, I looked up to Bill Russell, I looked up to Bill Parcels, Tom Landry, Chuck Knoll, Red Auerbach. Leaders of MEN

the Spurs played phenomenal defense in 2014 finals. people overlook it because of the offense (which is a disgustingly common trend in basketball now) but Leonard, Green, Diaw, and Duncan all played exceptional lock down defense against Miami in that series, and in the playoffs overall.
@tnaimpact6 жыл бұрын
Chris Hebert 2014 was the best yr Spurs got their revenge against MIA to win the 🏆🙌🏻! It was good to see them keep their players from 2014 team to try to go for a repeat but then loss to Clippers in 7 games👎🏻! Then that’s when Warriors always started to go NBA Finals for past 3 yrs after Spurs last championship 😔! It would have been better to see Spurs defend their first championship against Warriors 2015
@nelsondu23335 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Barkley said he thinks Pops is the best coach ever because he first won it with bigs as their best players (Robinson/Duncan), then won it with guards as their best players (Parker/Ginobili), and then again with a wing (Leonard) as his best player, and then he's won defense-first and with offense. He can win with any style.

Build A Fire basically San Antonio was one of the greatest Teams to ever exist. A Guy called Tim Duncan was drafted in 1997 and brought in a title along side a guy called David Robinson. The spurs drafted Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili which formed a “Big 3” they together won 4 championships 2003 2005 2007 2014 but Tim Duncan has 5. Later they were building the franchise around a guy they traded for in the draft called Kawhi Leonard he was one of the brightest stars in the Nba and the spurs had taken him in like a son but Kawhi got injured and the team started to trash talk and rumors and politics got in the way and Kawhi left the team. Now the Team sucks and is struggling to make the playoffs which they never missed since 1997.

It really is poetry in motion and a thing of beauty to watch. The way they move the ball around the floor and defenders are constantly scrambling really wears them down by the third and fourth quarters. Other teams seek individual stats; this is just straight up team basketball and a physical chess match that they excelled at

Gotta learn to appreciate this. Some of these older guys are in the twilight of their careers but they are holding on because they know the teamwork and effort along with one of the best coaches in the league gives them a chance at a championship every season since 2013. Doesn't matter how many fans sleep on them because their younger team is more athletic or what not. The Spurs will do what they do best and if the younger teams can't keep up in the playoffs, you know whats up.

+fedecasares I recall when the 77' Portland Trailblazers came from 2-0 down to win 4 in a row against the talented one on one oriented Phila 76ers with Erving, McGinnis and Collins. The Blazers were the forefathers of the Spurs and maybe the mid 80's Celtics. The way the game was meant to be played. A fun way where everyone is involved and relevant.

That was beautiful. I cried too. How can people call the Spurs boring to watch? They play beautiful ball. Team ball. They way it should be played. If you're a bball purist, and love the game you should love and applaud this team. If you don't like the way they play or at least respect it, your not really a fan of the game. You should go to the circus or a monster truck show or something else. Just my opinion. Love this team. I hope Timmy plays til he's 50. Gonna be sad the day he retires. #21 we love you.

I think the entire 2014 season of the Spurs can be archived and shown for many many years as educational material of how basketball is played. I remember seeing the ball movement and coordination and just sitting on the edge of my seat. I don't think basketball had been played to this level of perfection, as a team, since the 80s. And it hasn't after the fact.

I probably have comments buried throughout this comment section. I've watched this thing so many times over the years, but it still brings tears to my eyes. When you experience greatness like this, at some level you know it won't last - and it didn't. But, you will always have the memory. And to be privileged enough to watch these three greats in particular sharing their love for the game and one another is a gift.

If you're a fan of any other team, you're still a fan of basketball, so you have to love this. This is what Larry Brown used to call "playing the right way". If you play or have played basketball in any form, you wished you were on a team like this.

I'm a diehard Boston Celtics fan, but man, over the years I have grown to really just be in awe of how the San Antonio Spurs do business. I am a little embarrassed to have been known to say, once upon a time, 'man, the spurs? they are so boring!' I am pleased to report that I have since come to my basketball senses and now they are my second favorite team! I have watched this video about 10 times in the past week, and every time, I have chills for virtually the entire time. It is absolutely poetry in motion, five guys moving, passing, creating...it's a wonder why more NBA teams (save the Atlanta Hawks, to some degree now) don't adopt more of this system. Of course, in order for it to be executed so flawlessly, they do have some incredible players and future hall of famers, so that is working to their advantage as well. Nevertheless, they all make it work and it is a joy. I have been staying up mad late the last week watching the Clippers series and last night was a tough one for the Spurs to lose. I am hoping they can eke out a Game 7 win @ Staples Saturday night, because I do not want to see this dynasty come to an end just quite yet. And, if there was ever a team that could win a Game 7 on the road, it certainly and without a doubt, is the San Antonio Spurs! From a fan in Boston, MA... GO SPURS GO!
@maxdurk46245 жыл бұрын
I mean, I think they actually were kinda boring before they traded for Diaw in 2012. They always had a methodical and meticulous charm to them that hardcore NBA fans appriciated, but once they traded for Diaw and supercharged their offense they became beautiful.

the most beautiful part of this video is seeing that Ginobilis smile on the face as he dribbles the ball through the legs of the opposing player... because thats what its all about, having fun while doing the thing you love, and doing it good because of that

As a young pistons fan, i hated san antonio when they beat us in 2005. Now, i have nothing but the utmost respect for this team. Absolutely my favorite team (aside from detroit). They play like a together and have imo the greatest coach in nba history. It may not be the most entertaining to watch, but anyone who is a basketball fan knows that this dynasty is one of a kind. I truly hope they repeat this year (although golden state is looking pretty good). When it comes down to it, they are what the 2004 pistons would have been if they kept everyone together.

Who’s here in 2020? Spurs likely won’t make the playoffs..... after 22 years ... Forever will remain tied with the longest streak 22 year consecutive playoffs. (SuperSonics I think did it in the 50’s to the 70’s) Spurs did it in 3 eras! The most class A basketball Team the NBA will ever know. I come back to watch the old spurs to remind me what basketball is all about and what great basketball was for 22 years (I’m 28 btw...) so that’s a long time of seeing spurs awesomeness! @Pleebian94 Жыл бұрын
Yes and no. They move the ball to generate a 3 most of the time. The way the Spurs move the basketball is straight textbook teamwork. Most teams overly rely on a iso bailout instead of moving the ball around for a mismatch down low or back door cut.

Last year my high school team's record was 6 wins with 16 loses. We struggled playing as a team, and from the time 2013 season ended we worked our butts off in the gym, learning to play as a team. Learning that this game of basketball is a team sport. Before our first game our coach had us watch this and the 2nd part to this video, as extra motivation I suppose. While we did not win the first game we can back to win the next 2. Now I know it is the begging and the season is young but I see a district and possible regional championship within this season. And within the next 3 years a state championship. I have never seen a team play as well as the Spurs and they motivated our team, just by watching this.
