San Diego: Encampment Fire Threatens Gas Station 05162024

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 5-16-24 3:15 am
LOCATION: S. 28th St & Boston Ave
AREA/CITY: San Diego
DETAILS:
A fire broke out at a homeless encampment on the embankment above the southbound I-5.
This was along the CalTrans fenceline next to the SHELL gas station and its large propane tank.
The large fire burned the brush and worked its way into a tree next to the propane tank.
Firefighters arrived and got quick control of the situation. The CHP arrived and detained the homeless male, and after questioning about the cause of the fire, he was released. No injuries were reported.

Caltrans allow people to sleep on the freeways until something happens. The next fire will be at the Southbound I-805 - El Cajon Blvd off ramp next to the 76 station, there's a little fortress there. There are a couple of guys who I recognize as shoplifters from the Vons on 30th street hanging out there. I was in the store a couple of weeks ago and I actually saw them stealing and then as I was paying for my items they ran out the store without paying. That's why I consider most homeless people, not all as scumbags.

Yup. Been seeing “migrants” there too in numbers. Carrying bags of charcoal, kerosene lamps, firewood.. straight up legit camping gear. Todd Gloria Loves You

@@TimSlowNewsDayPool Today, at the truckstop in Otay, a bus with MX plates stopped and about 20 males got out and ran through the pumps! Full on invasion! Plus, these dipwads were running in front of trucks like total idiots!

@@IMSOHIGH619 Been seeing “newcomers” in droves there too. On a few occasions, crossing BLVD carrying large hauls of proper camp gear. Same is true in many little pockets and enclaves around town. It’s not exclusively the typical tweaker trash anymore. Important to pay attn to this. Godspeed. ✌🏻
