San Diego: Pursuit Termination 05202024

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 5-20-24 4:00 am
LOCATION: 7500 Draper St & 450 Fern Glen
AREA/CITY: San Diego
DETAILS:
A resident called 911 to report seeing three males breaking into several vehicles on Draper St. When officers arrived, they found up to 6 vehicles either burglarized or vandalized from attempted break-ins.
The suspect’s car was described to other officers for them to be on the lookout for. All 3 males were young Hispanics. The white Volkswagon was spotted nearby on Marine St. Officers attempted to pull the car over, but the suspects fled. Once on Fern Glen, the driver lost control and crashed into a tree. All three suspects ran, but one was captured.
The captured one is reportedly on probation and wearing an ankle bracelet.
He has been arrested at least three times for burglaries. It was apparent that they had crashed at some point. A spare wheel was being used. A regular wheel was found in the trunk and cut off. The rear bumper was in the backseat.
One of the suspects is thought to have cut himself when breaking into the cars, and an alert has been put out to any local hospital to report to the police if a male arrives with the injury. Police are checking to see if the Volkswagon is stolen.
